A 4.4-magnitude earthquake shook the Los Angeles area on Monday morning, jolting some people awake just before sunrise but bringing no immediate reports of serious damage.
The quake, centered about 6 miles north-northwest of Westwood and about 15 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, happened at 6:25 a.m., the U.S. Geological Survey said.

It wake me up before my alarm. That was a crazy few seconds jolt. I thought it's gonna pick up momentum like Northridge quake back in 94 but it was seconds of crazy quake. Thank goodness no damage.

Apparently you haven't experienced an earthquake and/or you don't realize that most of the people Adam loves live in LA.

There was a very large earthquake in the early hours of the morning in 1952 that set off the air raid sirens at the local fire station less than a mile from our house. The earthquake shook both my brother and me from our beds and we were terrified with the sirens going off. My parents quickly gathered us under our massive dining room table as the earth was still shaking. We could hear dishes and cans falling out of the kitchen cupboards. It was the first and only time I ever saw my father really frightened.

We went through so many different earthquakes in Southern California that I finally became
kind of used to them. My husband and I retired to a state that has had 2 earthquakes in fifteen years and they were both less than 2.5. However, when I hear on the news that there has been an earthquake in California I always hold my breath until I hear the magnitude and location, then I either relax or get on the phone and start calling friends and relatives who still live there. If you live in LA, you are always aware that the next one could be the BIG one that's well overdue.

5:14 pm, as it could be in San Francisco or Seattle or Tokyo but none of those quakes will be reported here unless Adam happens to be there at the time.

5:14, if you lived in earthquake country you should know to stay off the phone lines so they are available for emergency use. I know a family whose dad died because they couldn't get through to 911 after an earthquake because the land line and cell phone systems were swamped. Please stay off the phone after an earthquake unless you are calling 911. In memory of Marvin.

7:08, it's true though. Have you seen any reports here of the earthquakes in Japan since Adam was there or any of the ones along the west coast of the US? No. Are you saying Admin has a cold heart?

Anonymous said...

7:34 no I am saying you have a cold heart trying to stifle a few well-meaning stories from these people.

5:57 was Adam in LA during this time? He sure gets around.

8:12, I hope Adam is safe and wasn't affected by the quake.

Probably Admin lives in SoCal and she felt this morning quake. Have you thought of that? Cause this site is set to west coast time. What a heartless creature. Obviously you never experienced any earth quake in your life.
