Interesting, insightful, and informative report concerning the music business today in regards to Global Digital Music, including marketing, subscription music, music streaming, etc..

It includes lists of the Top 10 Global Albums, Top 10 Global Singles (including Avicii's Wake Me Up at #3), and features articles on Avicii, Daft Punk, Katy Perry, etc.. and some of the reasons they have done so well globally. Interesting feature of how Avicii went from a Swedish DJ to Worldwide Star in 2013, with the release of #TRUE', and the strategies that went into the promotion of #True//

This doesn't mention Adam, but VERY interesting read for those interested in knowing where music distribution and promotion is going, and why digital music, social media, and global promotion is so important to the success of artists..

"Physical formats account for more than half (51.4 per cent) of all global revenues, compared to 56.1 per cent in 2012. Although global physical sales value declined by 11.7 per cent in 2013, major markets including Germany, Italy, the UK and the US saw a slow-down in the rate of physical decline. France’s physical sales increased by 0.8 per cent, helped by a local repertoire boom which saw French repertoire accounting for 17 of the French top 20 albums of 2013."

Back in 2009 physical format music sales was 78%. Last year was 51%. 11% less than 2012. This no. will shrink more over the coming years as more people buy their music digitally rather than physical CD, Vinyl etc. format.
