Music Adam Lambert ably fills in as Queen frontman at the Joint!

Queen + Adam Lambert July 5, The Joint
Freddie Mercury is irreplaceable, and to their credit, Mercury’s former Queen bandmates Brian May and Roger Taylor seem to understand that. Whenever they’ve performed live in the years following the singer’s 1991 death, they’ve always billed Mercury’s fill-ins separately rather than as members of Queen, and the band’s latest tour is credited to Queen + Adam Lambert.
Mercury’s presence loomed large over Queen and Lambert’s show at the Joint on Saturday night, and not just because his face frequently popped up on the video screen. The last person to front Queen for an extended period of time, Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers, didn’t have much in common with Mercury, but American Idol alum Lambert is an avowed Mercury devotee, and his flamboyant, glamorous vocal and performance style (not to mention his fashion sense) echo Mercury closely.
Which means either that Lambert is the ideal person to perform Queen classics, or that he makes the show into too much of a tribute act. For the sold-out crowd at the Joint (most of whom were probably old enough to be Lambert’s parents), the distinction didn’t matter, and for his part, Lambert never seemed to be pandering to Queen fans. Not surprisingly, he sounded best on the band’s more bombastic tunes (especially ballads like “Who Wants to Live Forever” and the reworked Freddie Mercury solo song “Love Kills”), and got a little lost on hard rockers like “Stone Cold Crazy” and “Tie Your Mother Down.” But he nailed the theatricality of “Killer Queen” (lounging on what looked like a Victorian fainting couch), and the crowd enjoyed his addition of somewhat tiresome Idol-style melisma at various points.
May and Taylor were augmented by three additional musicians (including Taylor’s son Rufus on percussion), and they nearly matched Lambert’s energy. Both took respectable turns on lead vocals (with Taylor taking the David Bowie parts on “Under Pressure”) and gave proper deference to Mercury, whose own recorded vocals filled in at various points. Lambert took the stage for the encore wearing an actual crown, but there was no question who was still the Queen.

Love reading all these complimentary...and accurate!... reviews. Adam looks and sounds like the superstar he is.

"Love Kills" is so catchy. The first two stanza's are so beautiful and unique. Would love a whole song that continued this sound and feel. The beginning runs thru my mind all the time. Absolutely Hypnotic!

Well they re saying adam is ok, but freddie is still king. And 3 out of 5 stars is just a mediocre review.

Anonymous said...

The only review I will take note of is one that refrains from mentioning that "he's no Freddie" (I am so completely sick of reading that)..and one that praises Adam correctly for the major vocalist he is..can we not just forget about Freddie for a moment..this is a new century and Freddie Mercury is dead!! lets give our precious Adam his due!!!

Anonymous said...

Adam is broadway. And luckily that works for some of queens songs. But he isn't rock. People miss the rock edge freddie had. You really aren't reading the reviews if you don't notice most reviewers commenting on this.

@2:57 - to my, admittedly uneducated ear, I think Adam is able to sing almost any genre of music, including rock...he has an amazing voice - not to mention his good looks, personality, humble spirit, etc. no one else in popular music today can compare to him on any level...yes, I adore the man and I make no apologies for that..

Ok grannie.

Adam has been vocally trained for 8 years during his schoolyears (of which one year is operatic singing) and after that did musical theater profesionnally for another 8 years. So no wonder he will sound different than the other rockers out there who had a different background.... We can discuss until the end of time whether his voice is pure rock... My untrained ear would say it is a mix between rock/pop/opera. At least the article acknowledges that Adam did well on the more bombastic numbers like "Who wants to live forever" and "Love kills"... Most articles who were less favorable to Adam, leave this part out.. so still kuddo's to this reviewer... Funny note about the American Idol melisma by the writer... But then again... that is one thing that made Adam popular during his American Idol and it is something that can make him distinct from Freddie .. So why change it...

Stupid response; I am not a grannie and I feel absolutely the same about Adam Lambert and his unstoppable talents! You also don't know if he or she that you are attemping to respond to is an older person, which you seem to be implying; if that is the case, it does not mean that they don't know more than you do about music. You sound very immature; no matter what age you happen to be! Grow up!!

Anonymous said...

@3:31 You're trying to ridicule someone who has positive things to say about the person whose fan site we're all on????? Give me a break!!!!!

Anonymous said...

It is an OK review; just another reveiwer expressing their opinion. The most important reviewer is the audience that attends these Queen+Adam concerts. Considering all the audience responses so far; I would think that most of the audiences are the best reviewers out there, since they actually are attending the shows and responding to Adam overwhelmingly; and are spending the big bucks to see him over and over again. This unpresedented response includes Queen fans who have been tweeting and responding in person to their delight and pleasure in enjoying someone so talented as Adam.

In light of all the adulation that I am hearing about Adam from all the people attennding I would say Mr. Lambert is equivalent to a 5 Star Entertainer of the decade!!

Anonymous said...

I don't like gritty rock voice. I prefer operatic rock voice more. Freddie was more of the latter. So is Adam.

Didn't I hear Adam sing: Cryin', Whole Lotta Love, Slow Ride, Barracuda............wouldn't you call that rock????
Can Adam sing R&B and Soul, like Red House, and Tracks of My Tears, and get a standing ovation by ?Smokey Robinson? Ii believe he also killed a Mettalica song, Enter Sandman. This guy can sing anything and sound great!!!

Anonymous said...

Freddie's memory is sacred to many. I think some people feel it would be disrespectful to say Adam is as good or even better at times, than Freddie. Also Adam ?Lambert is Smoking Hot. Sorry diehards , but that's the truth and you know it.

Anonymous said...

Amen to everything you just posted! Also, he did a hell of a job on every performance.
In other words our man killed it!!

Anonymous said...

Freddie was then; and may his beautiful soul rest in peace. His music and memories will be here forever, and so will his fans.

Adam is here now, no need for apologies and no need to compare. Adam is a beautiful talented man who is giving us so many wonderful entertainment events to enjoy. Freddie was a great entertainer of his day. Adam is a great entertainer of this day.

I bet Adam and Freddie would have been in admiration of each other; just as Roger and Brian and Adam admire each other. Brian always says that Freddie would be so proud of Adam!

I love reading all the positive comments and great reviews of Adam with Queen. Watching all the vids that are posted after each show is just amazing for someone like me who is unable to go to any of the shows. After all the comments about Adam's voice(whether it's rock, pop, operatic or a combination), it will be interesting to see what the focus and the style of his next album will be. How much, if any, will the iconic rock songs and working with Queen influence Adam as he puts together his third album? I know that he has already been working on the album from what I have read, so I guess once the concert series is over, he will go back to it perhaps with a new energy and perspective on the music he wants it to be. I just think he is the best vocal talent in music today and can't wait to hear what he gives us in the next album. I know it will be something special.

Anonymous said...

Adam isn't going to get back on radio so he shouldn't waste his time on an album that will only be sold to a handful of diehard fans.

I have not seen the show in person, but it look and sounds sensational .It has so many poignant moments.
I too am sick of hearing and reading Adam is no Freddie. duhhhhh. Freddie lives on in these songs and it is no small feat that Brian and Roger have kept his legacy alive for future fans.
Freddie had the most unusual voice and his phrasing of songs is what made him so unforgettable. He also played piano and wrote some of these songs so he knows how he wants to sing them.
Adam is incredible in voice and charisma in that regard he has no peers in music today. He also has courage on stage to deliver some of the most recognizable songs in his own way without straying from what made them popular.

I was so filled with emotion when I left the Vegas concert last night that I really wanted to cry. It was just perfect. Adam was badass when he needed to be, playful and sexy when he wanted to be, he was charming during his little banters, and he even allowed himself to show his vulnerable side when he talked and sang about love. It felt genuine and organic. I can't imagine what Adam could have done better. May be put "Don't Stop Me Now" back on the setlist? Btw., originally I thought that Vegas would have a higher proportion of Glamberts, but that didn't seem to be the case once I got there.

The review is just okay for me. I guess some writers have a hard time to wholeheartedly acknowledge how legitimate a new frontman Adam really is.

Anonymous said...

Adam isn't a member of queen. He is a guest vocalist singing someone else's songs. Huge difference.

Anonymous said...

There are zillions of talented vocalists working today in every genre of music, in theater, opera, chorales. Saying he has no peer is just ignorance pure and simple. It just says that you live in a little glambert bubble.

Anonymous said...

I was surprised to see this reviewer bring up Adam's Idol style over singing. That cost him a lot of votes because many viewers referred to it as screaming. Even if you are on key, over singing is not always pleasant to hear. His die hard fans refer to it as his wailing.

It worries me that he is doing it on so many songs on this tour. Pushing the voice. Even knowing better, a lot of current day stars have been treated for vocal cord nodules. It's not always successful, it ended Julie Andrews career. Mariah Carey, Adele, and many others have been lucky to recover.

Anonymous said...

I was in LA and LV concerts. Adam was out of this world amazing. I'm sad that it's over. Back to real life. Wish I had the means to attend a lot of them. The crowd roar for Adam was something to be seen and heard. I don't pay attention to these reviews. I even doubt they attended these concerts to have any opinion for the magnitude of epic ness of this once in a life time tour. It's must see and hear event. Fans videos and pictures are fine but truly don't do the real live concert any justice.

Gabi said...

Due respect to the legendary Freddie Mercury, but I certainly would have not moved heaven and earth to see him live. I really liked the music that he created with the band and he sure could sing, but for me Adam is the one who's fascinating, electrifying and sexy, and he is just as incomparable as Freddie was. I too am sick and tired of the same old same old "he's no Freddie". Time to get over it - the guy died 23 years ago! - and acknowledge a new front man who is stepping up to the challenge just splendidly. Adam must get very tired of defending himself too. Luckily he gets pumped up with roaring applause during each of the concerts. That's what counts.

Anonymous said...

Sorry, 6:40. Guest vocalist? You are in a delusional bubble. This is a full tour. Roger and Brian aren't looking for another guest. You just can't can't stand that be is fronting for Queen, can you?

I like this fan comment on this article:

LMAO "Idol-style melisma"??? Oh dear Josh you need to move your musical vision beyond television talent shows and into the real world of music where "melisma" is a legitimate vocal &/or instrumental variation that aims to add color and tone to music ranging from Handel & Mozart, to Led Zeppelin to Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley, Whitney Houston to various country music singers, Freddie Mercury, Stevie Wonder, Pink even Gaga when it suits what she's performing. It's almost never used by mediocre singers or celebs who can't sing at all and rely on autotune (such as Kesha) (because it makes it too hard to disguise the limitations of their vocals) who have enjoyed popularity for the past decade or two but are now losing ground as people look for something a bit more interesting and genuine - such as a powerful, raw & real vocalists like Lambert. But if you find proper vocal technique "tiresome" you can always stick with Kesha & that Rebecca chick who sings something about "Friday" & other "cutesie" singers like Katy & that Justin kid who spits on his fans, keeps getting arrested & wears his pants round his ankles. I'm gonna stick with Adam, Bruno, Adele,Frank Ocean, Prince, Pink & the rest of the melisma singing mob myself.

I think He is having the time of his life, he is enjoying every bit of the tour.. He seems to be getting more and more relaxed with Brian, and they tease and play off each other. It is obvious that Brian thinks Adam is the best thing since sliced bread. I would like to see Roger get more recognition, he is such an important part of Queen, but gets overlooked a lot by the reviewers. When Adam finishes his album, I hope he sells well, but he will certainly take it on tour. Hope he comes up with a catchy single, that the radio might pick up, but if the US ignores him again on radio, then overseas will have him on radio, and be demanding tours again.
Remember this is a tribute to Freddie, which is why people are nit picking how Adam is singing certain songs. He will never sing like Freddie, because he is Adam, not Freddie. Reviewers are sure dissing Paul Rodgers.

7:22pm ... you forgot the "n" between the "A" and "other". Don't be too embarrassed.

Some of you have absolutely NO idea what it takes to achieve what Adam has achieved. Even with his huge talent and gorgeous looks, he's had to fight for every radio play he gets. If he was straight I bet we would have heard many more cuts off his last two albums. There were a number of incredible hits recorded there.

Change is coming, but it's still a process of overcoming hurdles that other performers haven't had to deal with. Freddie didn't feel free to tell the world he was gay. And at that time it probably would have crippled his career. Things are changing, but it is still such a topic of conversation in the industry it's astounding.

But, to be totally honest, I had hidden prejudices. Adam's personality and humility during Idol totally won me over. I've had many gay friends and still found this defect in my brain. Ingrained from society and ignorance.

I would venture to guess that reviewers who must degrade Adams ability to front this band never saw Freddie, and very likely just did a quick catch up course on old records and videos. So to give then some Queen cred they need to find things wrong with Adam. Interesting those attending these concerts, including some hard core Freddievfans are being far more complimentary. I hopecAdam realizes that they are stepping on him to,hide their own shortcomings. Fans are keeping the faith.

Wondering if "Love Kills" (with Adam on vocals) will be featured on the Queen release later this year? Thought I heard Adam mention that the new version will be heard on the music to be released later this year? Need and want DVD of these shows like yeaterday. Well well well...I'd just say QueenBert has taken on a life of their own; QueenBert blossomed like the efflorescent sunflower or red rose assimilating all the accolades in the sun. To me, QueenBert surprising has carved out it's own distinct identity; no doubt keeping much of Freddie/Queen material intact because like Adam stated in his tweet it's "sacrilegious" to change it too much.
Just half way through their tour and they have evolved into this distinct QueenBert identity not quite the same as Queen+Adam Lambert. Wait till it ventures eastward...they will never say, like the last line of the given extract: "but there was no question who was still the queen". Because the easterners know Adam a whole lot closer than Freddie. This is not in any way to diminish Freddie. It's reality. So it does depend on the audiences and their music background. Also, all voices are unique, it's when they sing, that's where the difference lies. Adam is singing with a world renowned rock band. Anyway Adam's voice is quite undefinable; I'll just venture to say it's operatic glam rock oooh-la-la!

8:34 majority of reviews were all positive, thus far. The LA Times review was more of a slam towards Queen now without Freddie and reviewer wanted to hear something new and not CLASSIC ROCK. That's why Adam tweeted about it. I went to three QAL concerts and in all three the crowd were roaring for Adam. Which QAL concerts will you be going or you went already if you are an Adam fan?

Anonymous said...

Are there any plans at all that Adam would be on the Queen record. I think not.It will be the M.J. duet and other songs of Freddie. As much as Queen appreciates Adam and the love they seem to have for him, it sounds like this tour will be the end of the road, for Adam to be Queens front man. This has bee a great gig for Adam, but it will end. He can go forward with his solo career, as he always intended.

Anonymous said...

8:12 pm, it has very little to do with Adam being gay.

Very sad to hear you still had prejudices so that it took a singer you don't know personally to open your eyes. Don't assume everyone thinks like you did.

Anonymous said...

I have a sick feeling that for all his hard work on this tour it still won't make him known the way most of his true fans do. He better get some new music out there as soon as possible while the stove is still hot. I really don't think him being gay is his real problem. It's miss management and not making music to attract the masses. What do you want from me did well. Go figure. I really hope something good comes out of this tour and he isn't just making money for others. Let's all pray he does well.

Anonymous said...

He didn't write what do you want from me. It was given to him intact. Being gay is part of the problem, there are still a lot of suits that just won't except it. Ryan Seacrest has been giving him accolades lately, and I think Seacrest might have some clout with iHeart radio. He might be able to turn the tables, if iHeart radio starts playing his music, then he is in. They are all over entire country. BUT he has to have a single that will attract the public. The average person doesn't care how good your voice is, as long as you have a catchy tune, that they will remember, and find themselves humming. Early 2015 he says, we will see. Do we have a label?

At this stage of Adam's career, if he comes out with a hit like what u want from me or FyI (catchy tunes) he will be a hit, gay or not. Frankly, very few people will spend their money on songs that isn't catchy or funky.. (thats what sells).
As 4 d comparison ( re Queen), Adam and Glamberts has to deal with it, this is what happens when a new person comes in..die hard fans feel they are disloyal when they appreciate the new person..lol, remember Fergie of bep? She sure went thru hell from the core bep fans..(despite d fact that she changed d game). Let Adam roll with it, do his best and hopefully get more and relevant new fans!

Adam rarely takes advice, which is why he is not on the radio, and why he does not have a label. He goes his own way, which is not always the wisest way.

Anonymous said...

We criticize when someone else sings one of Adam songs. We never say they sang it better than Adam.

Gabi said...

@anon 10:02, I feel similarly. The Queen gig is another great platform for Adam, but it only seems logical to me that Adam uses this momentum to re-establish/affirm his musical identity as a solo artist. As of now we don't know what else Adam has planned for 2014 and contrary to what he said in an earlier interview the new album will come out in early 2015 now. Wouldn't it be great if a successful single preceded the album release? I think ideally it would have to be a song that has "Adam" written on it and is irresistible to the masses. For now I am still overjoyed over the success of Adam's tour with Queen though. It IS a big deal.

Seriously? Comparing what Adam does with his voice so effortlessly to what Adele can do with limitations? Completely different artists. Adele has a beautiful voice,no doubt.... however, she's an artist who stands and delivers. Great if you're not expecting any pizazz or theatricality in a performance. Are you in any way insinuating she could do a better job on stage with Queen? She could sing a couple of Queen songs and do a nice enough job (certainly better than most female artists... most can't sing their own songs well....lol!) I suppose, but that's about it.

Glamberts call a review lousy, say the reviewer wasn't even at the concert, if the reviewer isn't praising Adam to the max and beyond. Ridiculous. And to make matters worse, there are Glamberts who fight with each other online.

Dialogue

Minzi : Hey did you hear that? A couple of idlers are saying Adam will not make it after QueenBert is over.

Ruby : What...That is absolute nonsense!

Moya : Yea total rubbish! Don't pay attention to such nincompoops lashing out baseless assumptions.

Dodo : No it's based on what I know...he's still not getting sufficient radio play so how is he going to sell his new songs when they come out?

Mooni : And also, I've not heard about any label he has signed on to.

Dodo : I don't think he has signed on yet.

Ruby : And how come you are so sure? Please substantiate.

Moya : Well he says his new music will be released early next year; if he doesn't have a label, he won't be able to specify that.

Minzi : Good retort, Moya.

Ruby : Well isn't he doing just fine right now...QueenBert is a smash! As for radio play, even without that, he took his 2 previous albums round the world in sold-out concerts.

Moya : I think his third album will make a splash worldwide! His worldwide fans will snap them up, with or without radio play. A lot of fans and Glamberts follow him closely on internet.

Ruby : Somehow I feel rather optimistic that his third album will get some amount of radio play on home ground. QueenBert has helped publicise his phenomenal singing and voice.

Dodo: You all bettter face reality, Voice is not what the younger demographic is interested in. They just want those auto-tuned pop music. Also they are not so into a gay singer.

Minzi : Well maybe they are getting tired of listening to that kind of jingo jango lol! and Adam brings a wisp of fresh air; and as we know, once you are hooked, that's it...like when he sings...when I'm in, I own your heart...

Ruby : That's my favourite song, you know!

Moya : As for being a gay singer, he can't change that and won't; I've always entertained this notion that if Adam were not gay, he might not have this vast-range voice especially the highs, crazy! shattering!

Rebecca : Hey what are you people so excited about? I just got back from the QueenBert concert...Whoa! Can't believe it...Adam extraordinaire! A class of his own! Still swirling among the clouds. lol!

Lam-my : Hey pals...I'd just say this...Adam will eventually go down into the history records on the same page as the all-time Greats in pop/glam/rock music.

Today's music scene is one crazy, indefinable mix of performers and songs. I guess because the tweens and teens buy most of the music and fill concert halls for those boy bands that pop up every 5 minutes, whatever new song comes out has to appeal to them. Sometimes I will hear a fairly good song on the radio and think to myself: Adam Lambert could have recorded that song and it would have sounded as good or better. I am not in the music business and am not of this younger generation, and my music tastes are so varied than what's out there today. I guess Adam has to record a single that will get radio play and appeal to the masses. Promotion of a single is also an important key to its success. I hope the momentum from his Queenbert concerts helps open him to a wider audience and that it reflects this in the acceptance and sale of the third album. No matter where his career may lead, I will continue to be an Adam Lambert fan because he is such an amazing vocal talent who has this mesmerizing stage presence that captivates me every time I see a performance.

When all is said and done, Adam is a tremendously talented guy, a wonderful person, and a hard worker. That IS a combination for success. Sure you need luck and timing, but look what has happened in the last year. Adam will do very well and we have and will continue to love him as he journeys on.

Has anyone wondered why the 3rd Adam has been pushed forward to 2015? He made a very definite statement that if it wasn't out in 2014, then something was very wrong.
My belief is that he knows now that a time issue has come up, that he didn't know about previously this year. He had already known about the tour months before he went public, so it can't be because of the tour.
Glee I read has been contracted for a 6th season, I am pretty sure he will be on it, with a bigger role. Also he just might have something else up his sleeve that he is not ready to tell us. He said something would be very wrong if his album wasn't out in 2014, well now it won't be according to Adam, so what is very wrong? I think he has some gigs, he is not at liberty to make public, or he wants to change up some of the music he has already recorded for the new album. Could be Roger and Brian, NOT Queen, may have something up their collective sleeves for him, that they are thinking about. I don't mean this new Queen album, that has already been in the works for many months, but something different. Seems odd they would drop him like a hot potatoe after the tour. Just my thoughts

His album is not coming out soon because he hasnt come up with good enough songs. Simple and obvious and exactly what adam has said. He said he needs more material.

Glee cast for the upcoming season has been announced and Adams name was never mentioned. He said himself it was unlikely he would be back. The show is going to be only 14 episodes and based back in the high school, not New York.

@2:38 A.M.

Not sick of hearing Freddie's name. It will always come up with respect to Queen. Sick of reading the almost obligatory 'he's no Freddie Mercury' comments...unnecessary,imo. We get it. We know already. And just for the record...believe it or not, there are people who prefer Adam's voice (look, stage persona) over Freddie's. I'm one such person. I don't apologize for it.

It's those who can't give Adam his fair dues and make up all the stupid nonsense in order to somehow diminish his talent.

Anonymous said...

The more material , was what he was supposed to work on in Sept, when the tour is over. Which is why I understood he was going back to Sweden, but I was shouted down over that. I don't believe he said he hasn't come up with good enough songs. He was very excited about the songs he was working on in Sweden and has been in studio with them. I do believe he needs more songs for the album.
So what are the possibilities that he will collaborate with Brian and Roger?

Anonymous said...

This reviewer may not have trashed Adam but he did give Britney a concert rating of 3 stars as well....so his credibility is completely out the window for me. How can you reward someone who doesn't sing live and can barely dance with the same rating as an iconic band who plays their own instruments and has a front man who doesn't miss a beat vocally while singing LIVE throughout?

Anonymous said...

How many songs, has Adam written all by himself. He has written songs about himself, but always collaborated even with those.
He has to have other people to sound off of, he has said that. He has been telling us he is working on this album since the 2013. I think Adam's strong point is his singing and performing, not writing the songs.

Anonymous said...

Sweden was his best bet, to get anything done, because he worked with teams of writers, Max Martin set up a thing like a workshop, for people just like Adam, who have great talent, but need other hugely talented people who write and sing. I hope he goes back there, he said more than once how he loved Sweden.

He doesn't have a song good enough to be a single or have any shot at radio. Otherwise he would not say he needs more material. He isn't holding up things because he wants a couple more filler songs to round out his album.

Which proves he doesn't have any max martin songs.

I would humbly suggest that none of us here know when Adam's new album is coming out, how much music is ready to go, etc.. I'm personally looking forward to it, whenever it is finally ready for us to hear.

Anonymous said...

Adams best bet is to take over the broadway role of Hedwig in the fall when the role will be open again. There aren't that many crazy gay roles he would be considered for.

Anonymous said...

He is not ready to go back to musicals yet, at least so he said.

Anonymous said...

I agree with glitzylady, Adam has no idea when his album will be ready. He promised 2014, unless something was seriously wrong. Well I guess something is seriously wrong, maybe he was counting on having a label by now, that hasn't happened. As good as Adam is he is a very small fish in a humungous pond. We may never see a 3rd album, because he might get into some other field of work, like acting.

Anonymous said...

Adam can do anything. To define and put limits on his talent is ridiculous. He is the most versatile artist today, imo. Can't think of one artist who COULD do theater or Broadway, and pop, rock, jazz, etc.

P.S. If Adam does in fact decide to do a Broadway play in the future,I will be the first in line (although I'm pretty sure there will be thousands ahead of me).

See, thats the kind of dumb statement that makes glamberts look like idiots. There are a zillion musical artists who have successfully done broadway and movies. Pretty much all the top idols have been offered or taken Broadway roles.

And Adam will never compete with enormously talented triple threats like NPH.

Anonymous said...

Adam at this time is not even thinking about his album, it is on the back burner, until after the Queen tour. He is also not going to even give us a clue as to what he has in mind for after the tour. He know his Glamberts will back him in what ever he chooses to do. He is keeping his mouth completely shut about his future, which probably means he has several irons in the fire, but no signed contract yet. We are not going to see or hear anything until he is good and ready to tell us, or it leaks from some source, which sometimes happens. So for now just enjoy the concerts, and rest easy on what Adam plans for 2015.

Let's just be clear on what I said: WE here who are commenting on this blog don 't know any details re the music, the release dates, what is ready, what is not, but I would assume Adam knows and has a schedule of events leading up to the finalization of his new album.

I personally have NO doubt in my mind there WILL be new music , in addition to whatever else is in the works for him in the future, be it acting, etc. He's pretty darn busy with the Queen tour now so not much time for anything else until September.

Anonymous said...

Well, we heard Adams interview and he sounded very vague and certainly not like someone who had a schedule or timeline for release of his album. So, assuming that really makes no sense. / i am not 8 55

Anonymous said...

I think adam will be open to whatever offers come along at this point. So whether its more queen, or acting or hosting he can't really afford to turn anything down.

Anonymous said...

Touring with Queen isn't going to get him new fans, especially the younger generation, what he needs is a catchy single or luck out like Pharell's 'happy'
oh God no! No new album with queen please..it will definitely flop.

Anonymous said...

Of course, but how likely is that?

@9:14 A.M.

Give me a break.

Your comments are so offensive....I am not an idiot, nor is anyone who think the world of Adam.

I THINK Adam is extremely versatile. I'm not interested in too many artists. Wouldn't pay big dollars to see them.

Quit hovering over every person's word. I don't give two hoots about other Idols/performers who can multi-task. For me...Adam can do things with his voice that is rewarding to me.

Just back from Vegas, exhausted and happy. I got to meet Marqarita Lady (you looked fabulous). Looked for Glitzylady but there was alot of glitz there. Thank you to the lady the first night that gave me the Queen beads to wear and I enjoyed talking with the lady I sat by the second night who has seen Adam over 12 times. The first night we were 8th row from the stage, along with everyone else we stood the whole time. I was with 8 people one 25 year old girl after it was over told me " I never knew about Adam ,now I want to know everything". There is not anything I can say that hasn't already been said. Adam is beautiful , Brian,Roger, Rufus wow!I thought the second night was even better even though I was further back and mostly watched the big screen. I wish everyone could see this concert. You tube is good but to be in the same room is amazing.

Yeah, it's obvious you are not interested in the world around you and that's why you can't think of any other artists who are talented. No need to flaunt your ignorance.

Anyone else considering whether or not Queen will be content without more shows or what the market may be in the UK for Wembley? That may be the ultimate test for Queen, site of their greatest triumph with Freddie, would be sensational. Wonder if "Love Kills" would be Freddie's Disco or Adam's ballad take on Freddie's song on the upcoming Queen cd offering?

Anonymous said...

Woah LOL is turning into a basket case over this QAL tour ,sooo funny . What nut cases is she repping?

Anonymous said...

@10:53 A.M

Why am I 'ignorant' if I'm not interested in too many artists?

There aren't enough talented (on my scale of Adam which equals the whole package....look...charisma...stage presence...and of course vocals. ) enough,IMO,to be worth my time and money.

And why do you have a problem with me focusing on Adam? I don't tell people who they should enjoy. If you love 'every' artist out there....knock yourself out.

Anonymous said...

Brian said it would be Freddie, for Love Kills. I would be surprised if Adam is on that album at all. It is a Queen album, planned on months ago, and Adam is not a Queen member.
I mentioned a collab with Brian and Roger, NOT Queen, for a couple of songs that they might write, but Adam sing. Brand new songs written after the tour.

esther macha said...

@10:49 I'll bite this one time even thou I know that's what you want. I knew her age because guess what I know her. We traveled together from Texas to Vegas 8 of us I must not have made that clear. You are a nuisance but the one thing you do right is prove the power that Adam has over people.

JAK here......Hopefully Adam and Queen will part company after the tour. Queen to get their album out and get started on the biopic which will star Ben Whishaw as Freddie. I'm anxious to see who will be cast as Brian, John and Roger..... (Rufus?).

Adam needs to finish up his album and get his solo career back on a fast track.

Perhaps in the future, he and Queen could come together for a special occasion performance.

Yes Darling, i HAVE read EVERY review and sorry, but i do understand what i've been reading. I have a feeling you're the idiot here......

EVERY review has been good except for Jim Harrington's which is no surprise...and his was borderline. The rest have all been glowing......some do say that Adam is no Freddie, which we all know...but that he is an incredible frontman and does a remarkable job considering the shoes he has to fill.

Now please, drop it and move on to harass someone else. Why are you on this site since you obviously don't like Adam?

Anonymous said...

Wrong. There were also bad reviews in Vancouver, LA, calgary and now Vegas. They probably don't get posted here.

One said Adams voice was nothing special. One said the show was no better than a tribute band, and things didnt add up whenever adam took the stage. But go on living in your bubble honey.

@1:45 P.M.

Just because these particular reviewers entered the concert with predisposed views....one reviewer wasn't even aware that the BR multi-layered harmonies were never done live....doesn't mean the concert wasn't a smashing success.

By the looks of it....if you were a reviewer...I doubt you would give Adam the time of day. Perhaps a couple weren't even at the venue. Judging from the audiences reactions at these venues, the concert has been a huge success.

Now about that 'bubble' comment....hate to burst yours.

Excellent points! Why not tweet, contact the reviewer and ask him! You don't the answer from anyone here...

Not one of us here has any inside information about Adam's third album. We all want to offer advice and our thoughts about what this third album should be, but Adam wil record the type of music he wants to include in this album. We all agree he is a multi talented performer with loads of personality and charisma and the looks to go with it. This doesn't necessarily lead to a successful single or album as witnessed by all the "crap" that is out there now passing as music by many untalented, inarticulate, self-centered individuals. I love the recognition and success he is having with Queen during these summer concerts. Will it translate into record sales and a larger audience of listeners and Fans? Who knows. All I know is that I hope we hear some new music from Adam by late 2014 or early next year and that it brings him the success as a solo artist that he so deserves.

Anonymous said...

@3:30 P.M.

Excellent sentiments. So reasonable...sound...articulate.

@1:45 P.M. will for sure have something to contribute because what you wrote makes too much sense. And he/she does not take kindly to sensible and logical contributions.

Brian hasn't actually said Freddie will be singing Love Kills on the new record....

I have been wondering about it too...Freddie recorded 'the disco' version.....but Adam has said at every concert that the 'new uodated version' will be the one on the album....how can Freddie have re recorded a new version of the song that was only come up with this year?

and Gabi, agree with your comment....

"1:45" ~ You are beginning to annoy me.....i've had a house full of company all weekend and a new baby to watch.....i don't need your aggravation. HOWEVER, i feel i must stick up for the choice of Adam as the singer for a respected band that's been around a veryyyyy long time.

BTW, i've loved Queen much longer than i've respected and loved Adam. I lived in the UK for many years and saw them live numerous times.

I NEVER read reviews on this site. I Google the newspapers from the cities Queen played in the day after the show. ALL the reviews have been overwhelming positive except for the one i mentioned.......can YOU read? Or do you just get your info 2nd hand?

You said he got bad reviews from these cities...really? These are some i came up with....

VANCOUVER
"Vancouver Sun"~ "Adam Lambert~a guy with serious range and requisite glam...the singer was "on". ......."The show was far better than the perfunctory cash grabs many of their peers are presenting."
"Yahoo Music" " Adam Lamberts "memorex vocals" were pristine......... There will only be one Freddie Mercury. There's only one Adam Lambert too. He's NOT Freddie, he's not a replacement, BUT~ he's absolutely the right man to front a new and different version of Queen 2014~and that's pretty fabulous"

L.A.
"San Gabriel Tribune"
~~Headline~ "Queen & Adam Lambert THRILL Fans at Forum"
"There will never be another Mercury~but Lambert paid him tribute while successfully shining in his own way"
"Adam took the tunes on as he did ALL that followed with vocal prowess"

CALGARY
Calgary Sun
"Lambert is certainly good enough that he has to be taken seriously. He has the charisma, attitude and vocal chops to not only stand on stage with Roger & Brian but to front the band"

Have you heard enough? Now leave me alone and go and Google the reviews yourself instead of making up imaginary critical reviews. Two of the greatest rockers in history thought enough of Adam to chose him to sing their songs....i do believe that's good enough for me!

Mmm Adam back on Glee after QueenBert...I like the idea 6:45. He might take on one of the main roles. I really like that because he comes on my tv on Glee 3 times with re-runs. Yea I stopped watching Glee since Adam left; he'll definitely be able to shore up the ratings, fallen drastically. Handsome Elliott gelled with everyone on set and Adam once tweeted he loved to be a guest star on a tv show. Adam has quite an array of choices...Any way the wind blows...suits Adam.
