QUEEN ADAM --- From PR-pasha Randy Alexander, who was sitting front-and-center in Philadelphia: “Thrilled I decided at the last minute to pick up tix and take my son Harrison to see the Queen and Adam Lambert concert last night. Never much paid any attention to Lambert before, nor have I ever had any desire to consider even semi-seriously following him. But after seeing him last night fronting Queen, he's got a new fan right here, certainly in this vehicle.

Holy Moly; the truth wins over bull crap!

A great review from a man who came to the show totally ambivalent about Adam and left as a new fan, enthralled by Adam's talent. This guy just absorbed the magic of the evening and let it happen. He discovered a performer who deserves all the accolades he gets. Yep, Queen and Adam did indeed kick MSG's ass!

I just knew when Adam started getting the right exposure that his earth shattering talents could not be denied!

I hope that he can ride this glorious vehicle as long as Queen can handle it and wants him to continue joining them in this amazing ride that seems to know no boundaries. All hail to Queen and Adam M. Lambert!!

Wonder why everyone assumes that Freddie is looking down on the Queen show, I would assume from his lifestyle he is looking up.

Anonymous said...

4:51 that was really mean, why do you think he was a bad person, because he was gay? You are a bitter judgemental person, that needs to get off this site.

Anonymous said...

4:51, Just a little judgmental, are we??

Anonymous said...

You mentioned being gay, jumping to conclusions as to what I meant. Had nothing to do with being gay.. He was a druggy and an alcoholic, and slept around with who ever gay or straight. A total sinner in all degrees.

I hope this partnering with Queen provides other opportunities for Adam as a solo artist in the music world. All the positive comments and accolades for Adam with Queen make me smile every time I see vids from the latest show. He just keeps getting better and more comfortable on the stage. The audiences love him. Let's hope once Adam decides to pursue the production of a third album, that all those fans who saw the Queenbert shows will show the same interest in his new music. Adam seems to be enjoying himself so much performing those iconic rock songs in his own special style and he is making a ton of money as he does so. Good for him.

Freddies lifestyle killed him in the end.

I am floored by the honesty of Mr. Randy Alexander admitting that he never bothered about Adam before. This inimitable collaboration between QUEEN & ADAM LAMBERT is simply magical and a gift from the Universe that non-followers could not resist.

I knew in my heart the moment i saw them at the AI finale that this was somehow gonna happen but never in this magnitude.

With all the covers the he did in his season in AI, he has proven to everyone that he has an unparalleled ability to interpret songs almost making them his own. He showed the same strength in his tours whenever he would cover Metallica, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, etc. making me instantly like them even though i'm not familiar with those songs. What an exquisite artist.

I sincerely thank the universe for rewarding Adam with this extraordinary opportunity to give joy once more through his craft. I am just an extremely proud mother whose heart is full because Adam is able to do what he loves most in all his gloriousness.

We don't know if the opportunity will present itself again after this tour. Of course i am eagerly waiting for his 3rd album. But i believe that this thing with QUEEN will not hurt his solo career but rather boost it. So i wouldn't mind mind should there be some more in the future. After all, it is written in the stars as everything happens for a reason.

Whenever the face of Freddie Mercury would appear at Bohemian R., something pierces my heart. I couldn't thank him enough for his legacy that is now Adam's vehicle to share his incomparable genius to the world. ADAM MITCHEL LAMBERT doesn't have to prove anything else. ALL HE HAS TO DO IS SING AND ENJOY EACH MOMENT BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE HE SHINES MOST!

Adjectives in the dictionary will never be enough to describe what i feel now that is why i am no longer affected by the negativity spewed by someone here. I have learned to scroll down and simply ignore. It is worth it :D

Thank you 24/7, Glitzylady and to everyone sharing all those much awaited links to videos and reviews. You are all doing a fantastic job for those who can't afford to witness this religious experience. Have also learned to accept the negative reviews
because there are really things in this world that we cannot change like personal opinions. I believe that i now have the serenity to just let them be.

@DRG thanks for an old shout out! We will be here for the long haul, one in our awesome flailing :D

Love thru Adam,
Bing

@5:24 PM Everybody's lifestyle kills them in the end.

Anonymous said...

He did it to himself, not everyone dies of aids. His lifestyle killed him, because of how he lived. That does not kill everyone else. He lived the wrong way, he might have been alive today, like Roger and Brian, if he had not been so careless with his drug habit. I see no reason to glorify him because he died of aids. I hope to God Adam has seen Freddie as a role model, and see what that kind of lifestyle will do to a person. It has happened to many others, and still does to this day.

By virtue of being born you must have a life style and you will die.

Just an update: Glamberts won in Round 2 of the Billboard Fan Army Vote with a total of 52.05 percent, probably the highest percentage Adam had. Must have had lots of vote in the last few days. So a shout out to all of you who took the time to vote. You are awesome (but you know that, huh?)!!!!

4:51 - typical religious intolerant ass.

Anonymous said...

Of course we will all eventually die. Don't be silly. Freddie hastened his death by his lifestyle. He didn't mean to die that soon or that awful way. Aids is a horrible way to die. NOBODY said that we are not going to live forever, but we all will eventually die. You are missing the point on purpose, or just stupidity.

I'll probably drop over dead perfectly healthy.

said by a typical atheist. I feel sorry for you if you think drinking and drugs are a good lifestyle. Keep religion out of it. Just talking about common sense.

Anonymous said...

@6:29
The only way you will drop over dead perfectly healthy, is if someone shoots you, or kills you in some other way. People who die are not perfectly healthy. Even in a car crash, they die of their wounds.

What is a pan head? Who are they fans of?

Is this the one that Tokyo Hotel wins every year ???

Skillet

The Panheads are fans of Skillet. They beat Iggy Azalea by 65%. I'm a great voter. Each evening I put my Mac on my lap and just keep voting all evening while I'm watching my TV programs. They haven't stopped me yet, or said that I'm voting too much.

Anonymous said...

who's Tokyo Hotel

Anonymous said...

I don't think Freddie is being glorified because he died of AIDS, rather I think he was glorified because he was the electrifying frontman of an iconic rock bank.

I was fortunate enough to see the Chicago show with two others and we really enjoyed it.

Anonymous said...

LOL - that should be rock "band", not bank. :)

Speaking of Aids, the crash that was in Urkraine had 118 people that were going to the aids convention and the top scientists , drs ect in the world that were trying to find a cure died on that plane! Aids cure will be set back for sure over this senseless murder. Why do the best of people always die young?

Anonymous said...

Random responses to this thread:

Straight people die of AIDS, too, all over the world. It's an equal opportunity killer.

Looks like we'll be voting for Adam vs. Skillet. Skillet? Yep, Skillet.

So happy that the MSG show was so great! It's a true milestone for both Queen and Adam. Read on another thread that people are hearing more of Adam's songs in stores, on radio, etc. Great news!

Now, on to my favorite town, Uncasville, CT. Uncasville? Yep.
Adam takes us to strange new places! LOL.

I like the last part of this article that the guy mentions Adam's voice is even better than FM. Honestly that's how I feel when I listen to HD fan videos with my BOSE headphone. Listen to good recorded BR, STL, TYMD, WWTLF, UP, SCC. Wished they had Dragon Attack as part of their setlist. My another Queen song fav. performed by Adam back in 2012.

BEST comment ever about this Killer Queen!

Anonymous said...

This isn't the perfect vehicle for Adam. Adam's own music is the perfect vehicle.

Anonymous said...

9:04 PM, he didn't say Adam's voice is better than Freddie's. He said Adam delivered his vocal acrobatics more effortlessly. He goes on to say there will only be one Freddie Mercury. Adam fans have a way of twisting facts to support what they think.

"More astounding was how effortlessly he delivered his vocal acrobatics - dare I say even more effortlessly than Freddie himself, as was proven each time the video screen gave us the chance to compare/contrast against vintage Mercury clips. True, there was and will only be one Freddie Mercury, rest his soul. But with Lambert out front, ya gotta hand it to him - this version is a greater tribute than ever imagined. It's Killer Queen.”

I've read the NY Times review. ...
Let me firstly say that I am a genuine Adam Lambert enthusiast. I have a high regard for his undeniable talent, stage presence, his extraordinary vocal ability, tonality & technique, as well as his music.
I am also admirer of Freddie Mercury as well. One can be both, and recognize the unique and iconic placement and timing for both men and their contributions to music and history.

I, too, wasn't pleased with the things I read in the NYT review, disagreed with his opinions.

There is something that he did mention that I thought was worth considering, but within context. It's a concept the reviewer brought forward that I'd even objectively considered before myself. It was in reference to (toward the end of the review) Adam's "authority" in performing/stage presence with Queen. Although the reviewer was way off in implying that Adam demonstrates NO authority (as this is not true at all), and certainly, there was no need to compare Adam to Freddie Mercury (I know, many of us are tired of hearing it)... Yet, there is a valid reasoning as to why this reviewer mentioned it and perhaps a few things to consider as to why the "authority" concept may have a bit of merit.

Here's my to cents....
ONE: Adam does, indeed, demonstrate definite "ownership" of the stage, a strong connection with the audience, and leadership with Queen, and undeniably in delivering Queen's songs (as his own).
Yet, there is an authority, as displayed by Freddie Mercury in those same Queen songs (no comparison! ONLY reference for understanding - no need to feel offended, please. It's just that for many, Freddie's style of delivery IS their reference for the Queen songs - synonymous with the songs themselves. It's a fact. Not recently a pleasant one, but a fact. So, please, indulge me for a bit, if ONLY for reference. NOT comparison. The REVIEWER made the comparison. I am simply citing the comparison)... that comes from within a singer who is singing his OWN SONGS - his OWN music. And, THAT, my fellow AL enthusiasts, is without question something Adam certainly shows, indeed, with his own music on stage.
TWO: The reviewer compares Freddie's older more mature demonstration of "authority" to Adam's current stage presence. Realistically, Freddie was in his late 30's, early 40's when he demonstrated the prime of that "authority" that legendarily commanded an audience to which the reviewer is referencing. In truth, Freddie wasn't always as commanding in performance in his earlier years, and likewise, Adam will demonstrate that more and more with time and maturity as an artist.
Finally, there is the consideration good ol' personality difference. Not BETTER, or WORSE. Just DIFFFERENT. Freddie's stage persona was naturally grittier, harder, edgier. Adam's is a bit more sensual...very confident, classy, playful...And powerful, nonetheless...not unlike the Elvis genre. (thus, the salivating from both genders, ample bra & panty throwing).

Two different styles - both powerful and authoritative in their own right.

Tokyo Hotel is a band, German I think. The lead singer is Bill ? And Adam likes them. They seem to win a lot of fan army awards.

I was at the Philly show with my 39 year old son who loves country music. He had a great time watching his mom love every minute of the show. He bought me two shirts and a poster I now have hanging between pictures of my two wonderful sons. I be always felt like a proud mother when it came to Adam. My younger son had some wonderful moments in musical theater playing the lead in many shows. I can only imagine how his mother felt in N Y. I saw a clip.of him saying hello to her in the audience. I just smiled.

@1.40am
I have seen a couple of reviews that mention Adams lack of confidence (bulls**t), or lack of authority. One said he was always looking for cues from Brian and Roger.
I think they are just misreading him....Freddie was out at the front, he made it all about himself, he was the lead guy. Adam goes over to Brian/Roger even Spike..not because he is looking for cues but because he knows its not all about him, he tries and brings the band into more prominence, and to make it about them as a whole...
Probably not explaining myself very well...

Our 32 year old daughter died in her sleep 4 and a half years ago. She left a greiving husband, two precious children, her heart broken parents, three siblings and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She left a hole in all of our hearts that cannot be repaired. She did not smoke, drink or do drugs. She jogged daily, ate a healthy diet and loved life. Four months after her death the coroner ruled the cause of death Undetermined. My husband said "She had to die of something, what killed her?" We went to our family doctor and showed him her death certificate with tears running down our faces. He told us we would never be able to imagine the number of people who die and there is no medical reason found at autopsy. He went on to tell us that children under the age of 4 die in their sleep because they 'forget' to breathe. He was very kind and gentle with us as she was a patient of his as well and he knew how healthy she was. He said sadly it was just her time to go.

I come to this site because our daughter told us we needed to watch Adam Lambert on American Idol and we immediately became fans. She would be so proud of Adam fronting Queen.

I am disgusted by the obnoxious posters judging people by how they live and die. Some of you should keep your opinions to yourselves until you've walked in the shoes of others.

On a lighter note: I don't remember who said it but here's the quote - "It's a great life, too bad NONE of us get through it alive."

Even other reviewers took issue with the NYT's review. They are STILL talking about it!

Great excerpt here. After quoting from the NYT review (making poor references to Adam's performance), Mr. Hueber (the reviewer) had this to say:
"To be fair, the reviewer(of the NYT) goes on to say that Queen, one of the biggest rock and roll bands of the 1970s and 80s, is simply a studio band with overdubbed vocals and guitar riffs, which immediately calls into question the reviewers credentials to judge a rock show."

- BAM!
