It’s LGBT History Month and Adam Lambert has joined forces with AT&T for their Live Proud Finale event on Oct. 13, 2014. The event marks the culmination of the “Live Proud”
campaign, in which fans and members of the LGBT community were
encouraged to create memes related to their personal Live Proud moments.
As the finale event draws near, AT&T has just announced another
campaign to celebrate LGBT History Month, called “Making Your Mark” via Twitter:
Through social sharing, this campaign acknowledges the importance of
recognizing and celebrating the locations that have empowered LGBT
individuals (and those who support the community) to live freely and
happily – thus elevating the community as a whole.
It is thanks to celebrities like Lambert, who has given strength to the LGBT movement. He has used social media outlets, like Twitter, to support the LGBT community, and now AT&T has provided his fans a fun opportunity to do the same.
Think about the location that empowered you to live freely and happily. You are invited to check-in to your unique “Making Your Mark” locations via your social media channels – including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Google+ – with the hashtag #MakingYourMark.
Whether it be the location where you first came out, met the person you love today, or first interacted with the LGBT community, your personal LGBT milestone locations have helped shape the person you are today. For some, being Lambert’s fan was an introduction to the LGBT community. Maybe your LGBT milestone location was watching him on "American Idol", seeing him in concert for the first time, watching his “It Gets Better” video, or seeing him perform at a Gay Pride event.

Yes, I found out much more after following Adam. When I was first confronted with the acronym LGBT...I googled to see what it stood for. So literally, that was step 0 lwl! After 6 years with Adam who spoke up on the issue, for instance when it erupted full-blown on the AMA stage, I then realised how seriously people view LGBT. Before that, I thought it was just a kind of intolerance and that was it. Later, to add to my shock, I saw people carrying placards outside a venue where Adam was about to perform; and I was so impressed at how calmly, he 'faced the music'. He simply walked out and signed some autographs unfazed by the placards with terrible words written on them, like 'F.....s go to hell'. Yea those were eye-openers for me. And in Adam's Outlaws of Love, he sang those words. By the way, that is my favourite song, not because of the gay implications; rather, I felt its depth and meaning, above all, he sang it so well, the vibrato and the slight oriental lilt in the music.
