Wonder if Queen and Adam Lambert will be available to go. I think they would try if they can headline.
Being that this is a HUGE and prestigious and legendary festival in England, AND Queen has never performed there, AND IF they are asked, AND if the festival makes it worth their while, I would suspect they'd make themselves available.. for sure!!!
I really am hoping this happens... and have a feeling it will.
Fingers crossed..
It would be such an accomplishment for Adam, major recognition for him (and good promo for his album, indirectly) and I suspect Dr. Bri and Roger would love it too... One more REALLY big MAJOR gig for Queen....
As an aside, I don't think the European tour will be the end of it for Queen + Adam Lambert.. It could be a recurring occasional "job" for Adam for years to come.. As long as Dr. Bri and Roger are up to it..
Glastonbury would be another fantastic opportunity for Adam! Keep 'em coming!!!!! (Keeping fingers crossed)
Don't understand quite, how they would be paid, as I read that this gig is partly for charities. But I think it would be a very prestigious event to headline for.
Brian did say, that he thought that he and Roger would be able to perform here and there for up to the next 5 years.
Thanks @Ann Marie for bringing up the artist compensation and charity subject. You tweaked my curiosity and I found this article that discusses just that!:
"The festival itself has, in recent years, generated upwards of £27m per event, although he is quick to highlight the sharp escalation in running costs incurred at present. Talking with ThisIsMoney, Eavis expressed his worry at “astronomical” costs that “eat up everything”, culminating in last year’s negative balance sheet – the first time this had happened since the festival’s inaugural £1.5k loss in 1970."
"Is it the case that fees commanded by headline acts are jeopardising Glastonbury’s long-term sustainability? Not so, says the doyen of festivals: “I paid £200,000 for Paul McCartney and for Coldplay, and although it sounds a lot, they could have charged me far more.”
In actuality, McCartney’s regular asking price is a cool £4m, but the goodwill generated by Eavis’ commitment to an unorthodox philanthropy drives artists’ fees down. Provided the festival is profitable, which for 2009 is a welcome certainty, all proceeds generated will be distributed equally between three charities: Oxfam, Greenpeace and WaterAid."

Sorry @Anne Marie (I misspelled your name, and apologize..)
glitzylady, no apologies needed, just thank you for the info. So I was right about the charities, but actually no moneys to speak of for the performers. If Queen were to perform with the now existing props they are using on the tour, it would not be a good financial move. If they performed as they did at the iheart Las Vegas gig, it would be better.
I just read that the trucks they used, of which they had 17, run between 100,000 and 200,000 alone, plus huge expenses for all their other equipment and man power. The Queen tour is out of sight expensive, have no idea what kind of money Adam is earning
not as much as we once thought. But the exposure is PRICELESS.
Adam is probably making pretty decent money with Queen, but yes, the exposure is beyond any price tag. I would assume this Festival gig includes lots of acts doing fairly short sets. I don't think QAL would be bringing all their staging anyway. It's very interesting to learn how all this works. The costs of touring are huge and apparently the payback isn't as much as we thought. Adam's doing fine, though, making very good money.
Another VERY big plus would be the incredible press, and the professional, multi-camera, HD filming they would get...
Glastonbury Festival is featured on BBC, and eventually on cable music channels like Palladia, etc... Who knows, perhaps HBO, etc... Imagine the possibilities! Huge promo!
As for whether they'd bring all of their tour staging... hard to say.. But I suspect they'd bring along quite a bit of it..Similar to the staging in Las Vegas (due to smaller venue and stage) and the music festivals in Asia.... Minus the Q, etc..
As an example, here's a professionally produced video from BBC... Arcade Fire from 2014..

Looks like an amazing venue...
All in all, we probably won't know for a while if they've been invited.. but it's fun to think of the possibilities.....
