The search for the next American Idol starts… (insert dramatic Ryan Secrest pause here) on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015.
Fox will kick off the reality singing competition’s Season 14 premiere that night with a one-hour episode at 8/7c, then wrap it up with a two-hour installment on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 8 pm.
During the opening eps, Idol‘s three returning judges — Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. — will hit auditions in Kansas City, Minneapolis, Nashville, New Orleans, New York and San Francisco. [The New York episodes will feature guest judge Adam Lambert, subbing for an absent Urban.]

BFD! Idol is so dead now. Rating have taken a nose dive steadily the past 6 years. I'm so glad Adam didn't go for the permanent judging gig. The show is about to get canceled and if Adam were the new edition to the show he'd get the blame. Don't go down with the ship. Also Adam's musical talent is so far beyond that show. It's a poor use of his time and energy.

How do you know AI is about to be canceled? Unless it's definite, I don't believe it, and wanting AI to be canceled won't make it happen.
It would be no disgrace if Idol got cancelled it far out
lasted most programs.
Seeing as Ryan Seacrest signed a contract for another season and an option for an additional season as well as Idol is one of the top10 primetime shows, I don't think Idol is going anywhere soon.
The exposure on Idol is worth Adam's time and energy.
There may be an over-saturation in talent competitions, but I would consider Idol anything but dead. I think any exposure that Adam still gets on this show is great.

AI could easily be revived depending on the talent this year. There is always a chance someone special will show up......it's happened before! ;-)
