Why do they need personal info to vote?
@3:10 To confirm that it is a real person and to make the vote fair (so people dont just vote a whole ton). They also use it to send a text promoting the charity.
7:36 pm, they can use cookies to make sure you don't vote unfairly. As for confirming it is a real person, I put in a fake name and number to vote. This seems like a blatant grab at demographics and phone numbers for future fundraising. I've never seen a legitimate charity do this.
I voted once where I had to give my email address and I am getting so much crap now, I have to delete 20 or more junk messages a day. However I had a doozy today....from a Bank in Maylasia wanting info about my bank, code, full name, acct #, etc. I had to act before 24 hrs was up or I lost "10,5 million dollars guaranteed to be deposited into my acct.". The message had misspellings, poor English and I'm puzzled, what is 10,5 million?
That's why I seldom vote!
