Queen guitarist Brian May has described singer Adam Lambert as a "gift from God".
Speaking to Classic Rock, May said that Lambert – who has performed live with the classic rock band since 2012 –was the only performer they had found who was capable of filling the shoes of iconic frontman Freddie Mercury.

"Adam is the first person we've
encountered who can do all the Queen catalogue without blinking," said
May. "He is a gift from God." His bandmate, drummer Roger Taylor, added:
"He's incredibly musical, and we certainly take anything he says quite
seriously."
Lambert, however, is less eager to compare himself to Mercury. "There's never going to be another, and I'm not replacing him," he said. "That's not what I'm doing. I'm trying to keep the memory alive, and remind people how amazing he was, without imitating him. I'm trying to share with the audience how much he inspired me."
Queen and Adam Lambert are set to embark on a UK arena tour this month (January). The band will play 10 arena dates in total, starting at the Newcastle Arena on January 13 and ending in Nottingham on January 24 before resuming with the newly announced shows. Dates in Glasgow, London, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham will take place inbetween.

Adam is overly modest, so I'm thrilled that Brian and Roger are more bold in their statements. No disrespect to the musical genius of the original frontman, but I find Adam as a performer way more exciting. I have a feeling I'm not the only one. Yup, I said it. Apples and oranges, I guess.
Adam is a gift from God. So we all can enjoy him. We are all so honored to be a Glambert. And be part of this site 24/7.
@Gabi
I don't think Adam is way more exciting than Freddie - not a chance. Obviously you've never been to a Queen concert when Freddie was the frontman - no comparison with anyone - but Adam is fabulous.
To each his/her own. :)
Freddie had the crowds in his spell, they throbbed with eagerness for more, more, more. He was electric and made you tingle. Nobody has ever been like him.
Not even our talented Adam. Freddie had an indefinable
magic and a bombastic style. That's why many of his fans find it hard to accept a replacement, even one as super as Adam.
But most have now seen Adam has his own kind of magic.

as you say...each to their own. I'm with Gabi, I prefer all aspects of Adam over Freddie, his looks, his stage presence, his moves, his sexiness, and above all, his voice.
Thats not to say Freddie wasn't great, and I can see why millions loved him...but give me Adam all the way,

Let's not think (for anyone else). Let's say 'I find' or 'imo' - we are all entitled to our opinions re Freddie and re Adam. It is perfectly ok to like/love either one "better" as long as you state your opinion in a clear & civil manner.
Let's not compare. There is no VALID way to compare these two great singers/performers, so why constantly try to do it? And since there is no way for those who have not experienced Queen LIVE while Freddie was their frontman to do so NOW (videos are not enough!), let's just be happy that we all can still enjoy Queen's iconic music with Brian, Roger, the rest of the talented current band members with the best possible frontman!
If you find Freddie to be the ultimate performer, that's great. But there are Queen fans who have seen Freddie perform, love and respect him tremendously as the original frontman, musician and a stunning performer, and yet find Adam more to their liking as a performer, as a singer (voicewise), who find him more appealing, more intriqueing, more sexy.... That should be allowed. And vice versa re Freddie.
Finally let's stop using the word 'replacement' (at least here!).. although most journalists/writers probably never dare or will (*sigh*) - you can't replace a dead man and a legend, Adam's not trying to do it, that has been clear from the start (for those who have been willing to listen to him and Brian & Roger). There was an empty slot in the band called Queen, a vacancy and now that slot is perfectly managed by Adam F. Lambert, the man who has brought much more to the table (so to speak), to the LIVE shows than his own shoes!
Love & Respect to both!
I'd be glad to stop talking about Freddie vs Adam and Brian and Rogers superlatives about Adam - but - we keep getting thread after thread about the same thing!
Must we discuss it ad infinitum?

It's Adam M. Lambert, NOT Adam F. Lambert. That's not just my opinion, it's fact. :)

Sorry dear, in my book - and in that of many others - it has been Adam F. Lambert or AFL from the very start! And I mean this very lovingly! :)))
