B.Z. BERLIN: The Queen Legends missing the Mercury effect
by Lena Maria Ackermann
via Google Translate

The original musicians are legendary and modern: Stage Selfie, acoustic songs, video screen. But they do not achieve the status as once Freddy Mercury.

Large crowds at the O2 World - and it goes straight to the point with "Fat Bottom Girls" and "Another One Bites The Dust".

Brian May is as great as ever on guitar. Roger Taylor on drums carrying a mirror sunglasses, animated in between to clap and then sings a haunting version of "It's A Kind Of Magic". May is dedicated Freddie Mercury an acoustic anthem and makes a Stage Selfie.

He and Taylor are already in a legends, their mere appearance on stage the fans would probably suffice here. Trying to inspire the audience as Queen singer is hard, Mercury can already reach no.

Paul Rodgers, the last singer was too rocky, the greatest hits he could not sing. The New Adam Lambert wants supposedly not compete with Mercury - a good purpose which he may keep.

Lambert, a young guy who got to know during the talent show American Idol, the queen-old rocker, easy to sing, and he does pretty well. His falsetto, the theater show, costume changes, all top-notch. In addition to the original musicians, costume changes, a velvet sofa, light effects and video screen Lambert fits perfectly into the show.

Hits like "I Want It All", "Radio Ga Ga" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" make the Queen Revival evening as perfect as it can be without Freddie Mercury flat.

Wow! 5 reviews from Germany so far plus the one from Croatia. Thanks very much for finding and posting them.

After reading the title of this review, I was expecting a so-so review. But this one was very good and very supportive of Adam. Nice way to start the morning.

One more thing. I just read the other Berlin reviews posted here. Is it my imagination, or is Adam the only very successful Idol contestant to suffer the "stigma" of being on that show? What other AI alums are described in a somewhat sarcastic and negative manner due to their having been on AI? I'm not saying that it happens all the time. I just wonder if Adam is the only one.

Dee R Gee, I have to agree that it continues to come up over and over with adjectives like runner-up, second place, and I guess that's fine but I don't remember Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson bombarded with the adjectives. However, what Adam always found more disturbing was the constant referral to gay singer. He just wanted to be called a musician. I think Europe at least leaves that alone to some degree, but it is difficult considering he is filling in for Freddie Mercury and the band is called Queen. LOL.
His history is sooooo much more than Idol, but that is the one item picked out of his brilliant career.

Ok I just noticed the picture on the big screen makes Adam look like Christopher Reid hair cut, (Kid and Play) House party movies.

I guess I'm not so bothered when he is called "runner-up," etc. But what does bother me is when he is considered second-rate because he was on the show in the first place. Seems that the UK and Europe are pretty hard on the whole singing competition show thing in general, as if anyone on those shows is automatically inferior. That's what really gets me mad. Especially when Adam is standing there singing so brilliantly. Seems like other AI alums are referred to in a derogatory way just because they were on that show. Maybe I'm wrong. That show can be a blessing and curse.

Its just my observation but other Idol contestants know matter how good they are are popular here in America. Little is known about Adams history elsewhere and they are just discovering him on a larger world wide scale. Googling his name, checking out You Tube and purchasing his CD's. When this tour is over they will not be able to deny that Adam sings brilliantly.

Actually, in my post I meant to type "Some other AI alums are NOT referred to in a derogatory way..." Changes my whole point. At any rate, I vented. I'm done. :)

Spoken about Europe and reality shows as Idol (It is usualy called Superstar here) and X-Factor - there is too many different languages and almost every country have it´s own competition. There is too much of those winners and alumnuses so it takes a little bit different view of point. After that every contestant have to proof he is worthy. Too much competition and too little markets. Our country has just 10 milions of people for example. We are doing that withe our past part - the languages are similar and it togeather contains just 15 milions. But it is sad that the reviews usualy didn´t mentioned his other activities.

@Anon 3:48 PM - I agree with you totally! "He does pretty well". Okay, compared to who else in the universe? Very shady comment.
