The Hollywood sign is intact and all is well. This has to be another hint from Adam about his new single. So apparently in his dream Hollywood is a ghost town, not a western town as so many people thought.
I do believe that some years ago the Hollywood sign did look like this, and the town refurbished it, this is probably from an old photo. That is a really great idea for Adam's new single.
"The City decides the Sign would have to be completely rebuilt at a cost of $250,000, ten times the cost of the original.
Hugh Hefner steps in and throws a lavish fundraiser at the Playboy Mansion to raise funds for the rebuilding costs. To raise the additional funds needed to restore the Sign, celebrities and community leaders sponsor individual letters at $27,500 a piece. Alice Cooper sponsored an “O” in honor of Groucho Marx. Other letters are sponsored by Andy Williams and Gene Autry, among others."
@8:29 Thanks for the info about the restoration. Very interesting. I think this is a hint from Adam, that his Ghost Town dream is Hollywood. Wild idea.
So Adam's Ghost Town may be based on a dilapidated Hollywood sign scenario. This reminds me when I passed the Hollywood sign, on tour, the L was missing but not as bad as the pictures posted. Maybe he tracks back from his own humble beginnings to his now present wealthy, glamorous Hollywood life on those Hills...a kind of parallel.
Is that for real, or is it his site for his Ghost Town shoot?
ReplyDeleteHollywood is a ghost town. It fits that Hollywood is a ghost town in his dream.
When did this happen? I just got a photo of g'son with sign on hill behind him a few days ago.....
ReplyDeleteIt's not really trashed is it?
No it is for the video.

That is how the sign looked prior to it's restoration in 1978.
ReplyDeleteThis is a cryptic message what could UILY WOD stand for? I will confer with my Washington DC connections and get back to you.

There is a trust that takes care of the sign now.

I think Adam cropped from this pic.

ReplyDelete"I tried to believe in God and James Dean...but Hollywood sold out."

Wow! This could mean that the ghost town is a kind of decaying Hollywood metaphor. Makes sense. This song gets more intriguing by the second.
ReplyDeleteI've seen that old pic of the Hollywood sign before. It did fall into decay and was refurbished. Perfect image for the song.
