iTunes no longer counts pre-orders on their "First week sales" charts... So the recommendation is to buy the single "Ghost Town" now.. And wait to order/download the album on the day of release to get it counted on iTunes first week sales charts..

You can go ahead and pre-order physical CD's from Amazon, etc.. etc.. now..

This will maximize impact..

Even Shoshanna Stone said she will order in that way..

Preordering on iTunes doesn't affect Billboard but iTunes has changed and preordering there means it won't "chart" as high on iTunes.

If you can afford two copies, preorder CD from Amazon and download from iTunes on the album release day.

Dare I say this? Not sure I like the new song. So much dance music. I like the acoustic start but then.... yuck.

The only item NOT to pre-order is the iTunes digital mp3 download "The Original High" album..

Purchase and download "Ghost Town" now on iTunes.. Wait until day of release in June for the album on iTunes..

Pre-order the physical CD from Amazon etc.. It's fine to do that... Amazon still counts pre-orders as 1st week purchases.. (so far anyway).. iTunes no longer counts them as 1st week purchases but they do get counted in total album sales.. I know, confusing... arrrrggghhh!!!

Maximum impact for Adam this way..

Apparently iTunes gets much notice from the Music Industry for 1st week downloads/purchases.. so we'll try to pay attention to that... This was reported by Billboard awhile back..

I think we have to consider what radio is going to play too... It's not just about Adam's voice but the whole "sound" of the song, the "catchiness" of the total... Fingers crossed!!! Many in the radio industry are singing it's praises so that's a good sign..

Love the music, but I am visibly upset after hearing it. The lyrics are very dark talking about his dying, trying to get into Heaven but they wouldn't let him in, then descending to Hell. Do we know who actually wrote this yet? I have been forced after much anticipation, to face his mortality, and I hate that part. That being said, if this doesn't get him to #1 on the charts, little else will.

Adam is a singer WITH VOICE, he doesn't need a deus ex machina, a gimmick, a stratagem to sound great, he only needs a team of music producers able to take him to another level, new, different.

It's the second time I use this expression, and I use it because it's honest, I can breathe freely, the production of the song is polished, tasty, and innovative.The song has its own red thread, its sound is instantly recognizable,the bridge, the hook. I'm not at all interested how many singers "whistled" in their songs before Adam, I'm not interested at all whether this bit or that bit have been influenced by Erasure,or by Avicii or whoever, we , fans, musicians don't live in a vacuum, if I have to post about The Beatles, will I have to return to their roots, Elvis,each time?
I'm only interested , as a fan, in Adam's impressive vocal palette, I'm only interested in the heavenly modulations of his voice, I'm interested in the ability to use them to transmit so diverse feelings.
I'm forever interested in his mastery:,clear, sweet , mysterious sounds when the melody calls for it, harsher , raspier sounds in alternation.It is a more elaborate song, lusher and multi-layered, it has finally fulfilled my desire to listen to something different, much more than a simple, danceable, catchy summer song.

The acoustic part is great but I'm not keen on the "My heart is a Ghost Town" part. Maybe it'll grow on me.

The first time i listened to it i was not sure if i liked it. I mean, i liked it because Adam was singing it, but if it wasn't Adam i'm not sure i would of given it another chance.
After listening to it multiple times, it really is catchy and i can't get the tune out of my head.
But i agree with you about not showing off his beautiful voice to its full potential ...but we all know exactly how gorgeous Adam's voice is....i'm sure other songs on the CD will showcase it....

I thought Adams voice on a CD was the best I have ever heard. The song is fantastic. The more you hear it the more you will like in my case love it. I not feeling well but could not stop playing it.
I just listened to I believe the Washington station. The DJ said we are going to play a world premier. Usually Heather does this but I had to come in for this one.
The lady DJ said I never thought I like a Adam Lambert song but I am converted she also said if I can be converted to like a Taylor Swift song I sure can Adam Lambert.

That was after they played it. Before they played it he said not telling you who it is yet. After he said its Adam Lambert she said I could not believe that's Adam Lambert.

They also gave a text to vote love, like, or hate. That goes for radio play. Guess you all heard most of that. This song is a song you will like the more you hear it, it will grow on you but I loved right away.

Okay, checking in with you guys about Spotify..... I already have the app. I click the GT "view on Spotify" link.... And, though Spotify shows the song, it doesn't show the stream to play it. Anyone else able to play GT via Spotify?
And when I try and find it on the search function.... It says "no results" for Ghost Town with AL.... (???)

10:40 PM, yes, fine to pre-order the CD from Adam Official and Amazon. Its OK to buy the single from iTunes.

It is even OK to pre-order the album download from iTunes, it just won't be quite as helpful for Adam.

Adam album is no. 5 on pre orders deluxe right now. I imagine if it been ok to order now it would be no. 1

Just buy whatever you want where ever you want. It's not that big of a deal in the long term. It's going to take more than us buying the single and album for it to be a success.

Yes, the only thing we would love to help Adam with by waiting until day of release to order is the iTunes mp3 digital download of his album "The Original High" ..

Ultimately all of the purchases and downloads etc.. are counted towards TOTAL album sales but it does make a difference for 1st week sales on iTunes, which from what those who know say, does matter.. It may or may not make a difference but if it helps Adam's "numbers" in any way, it's worth waiting to order from iTunes, IMHO..

But it's true that it's really up to each and every fan to make their own decisions, once all of the pertinent facts are known..

Super yuck x 1000! I was trying to stay positive but deep down knew I was not going to like this direction. This song is really stupid. Lyrics are pointless. Hook is boring and borderline annoying. I will never listen to this. For those of us who fell in love w Adam on Idol, we will not like him singing these dancy songs. EVER!! His talent is waaaay beyond this horrible trash. A few hours later, "freed" from my initial frenzy, clear-minded, I could explore the "pattern" of this song more thoroughly and discover subtle details I missed in my first post.
The parts Adam sings like telling a story, a powerful, very personal story, his sweet, nuanced voice seems to be accompanied by an acoustic guitar, "seems" because you never know when the damn synth is around
Simple, thrilling, touching.
Whenever Adam sings the"now I know/my heart is a ghost town" part,the pattern becomes, electronically, more elaborate,the acoustic guitar is replaced by sound effects, the whistling, the echo-like sound produced by the synth and a drum machine?
Fancy, elaborate.
Listen to how beautifully "walked", "tonight" are produced!
This part , the machine, will be easily replaced by hands clapping during the live shows.

I didn't get a chance to listen to the song until this morning (4/21), and after reading others' comments I wasn't sure what to expect and hoped I'd like it. And I absolutely LOVEEE it!! The juxtaposition of the acoustic with the hard dance part is awesome! When I listen to the acoustic part, I don't want it to stop. Then when I listen to the dance part, I don't want IT to stop. When the song was over, I immediately wanted to listen to it again (then again)! I totally see this song doing well on radio. I'm beyond excited!!!

So I guess it really wasn't a big deal and everybody who thought they knew better about where to order and the charting process were wrong.

I'm not a fan of Ghost Town and I really wanted to love it. Adam's FYE and Trespassing songs run rings around this song. However, hopefully I'll love other songs on the album.

It's ridiculous the way some of you want to force this song onto those who say they don't like it. Sorry but we all see and hear things differently. I have to say I am disappointed, the song is not what I expected, I think all the teasing that went on leading up to it's release has put me off, hearing a bit hear and a bit more their can have the opposite effect to what was intended. Adam can and has done better, this song does nothing to show-case his beautiful voice, hopefully the rest of the album will help to compensate for this.

Ghost Town is currently #87 on the iTunes Top 100 Songs (USA).

My random thoughts in no particular order of importance:

1. There are other songs on TOH, several of which hopefully will be singles (and hits).

2. The song is not what I expected, but I like it a lot. After listening multiple times, I can't get it out of my head.

3. I can imagine this song being used on a TV show or in a movie or on a promo ad somehow.

4. I like the lyrics and I like Adam's singing better than I like the repeated whistle-y chorus. Too much of that, IMO.

5. I am very eager to see the video that goes with this song. It could change my perception of the song. The video will tell more about what the vision of the song is.

6. Hope GT gets the predicted radio play. It grows on me more each time I hear it.

7. I'm not going to beg and plead with people to like it if they don't. To each his own. I think it was not what many of us expected.

8. It thought it would be a longer, "fuller" song with more of Adam's "big" voice, but it isn't. It tells a kind of mystical story. It has a smaller "feel" to it than I expected.

9. I think TOH will have songs that some of us will like better. There could be some hits there just waiting to be discovered.

10. Can't wait to hear Adam do his upcoming interviews! I'm buying and GT and TOH. I have high hopes! Bottom line: I like Ghost Town and lot. It knocked me side-ways with its unexpected sound. That's what Adam does.

This song can not compete in any way, shape, or form with artists like Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, etc.. who put out real songs w/ real lyrics that don't sound like some Swedish artists' leftovers.

Seriously, is this really his lead single?? It's not good. I mean it's ok to maybe listen to if it comes on randomly, but NOBODY other than a die-hard glambert will go crazy over this song. Do not get his decisions at all. Maybe he feels bad saying no to these so-called mega-hit producers?? C'mon Adam - please tell me there are other songs on this album that are MUCH better!! I think I agree unfortunately with some of the nay sayers about this song. I expected more, something more upbeat, catchy that the young listeners would find exciting and appealing and would get radio play. Too much of the whistling and blank space when Adam is not singing. I am disappointed because of the major build up of the song that we have been teased with and now after hearing it is a let down for me. I hope I am wrong and that it does become a hit for Adam because at this point in his career, he needs something to get him recognized for the super vocal talent that he is.

Bottom line is, we have to sustain GT on the charts as long as possible. A short-term spike just won't cut it. Looks like many countries are on board with it. But it's the U.S. Billboard chart that is the Holy Grail. Hope GT can keep on going strong till the release of TOH. I'm sure there are songs on the album that will appeal to lots of people.

I think GT is too different for some people to like. It's out of the ordinary. That's one thing I love about it. Adam is not afraid to try something new. I wonder what "The Original High" single sounds like?

That catchy out of the ordinary is what going to sale it to the younger ones. It's such an amaizing club song. Love it so!

My thoughts and opinion about GT. When I heard it first time, I must say I was disappointed. I said to myself: " Oh, no, this is boring." I hoped so much that Adam would succeed. The start/beginning was promising with the guitar sound. But then the verse sounded too simple. And then that whistling, too much to my taste. What I liked was that when Adam was singing, he was in front. The voice is so beautiful.

I listened to it a few more times and it grew a bit on me. But I still don't like it a lot. The whistling is earworm but there is too much of it, IMO.

I like: The acoustic guitar at the beginning of the song, Adam's voice, the end of the song.

I don't like: There is too little Adam's singing and too much whistling sound. The verse is monotonously boring. The refrain ("My heart is a ghost town) is too repetetive.

This is just my opinion. I really hope this will be a hit. I realized I'm not a friend of house music. I like more authentic sound, rock music and power ballads.

We should be able to express our opinions here without being called trolls.

WOW, I love this song! Its different than Adams previous songs and the lyrics are awesome, U have to listen really the words, before you understand the meaning of the song. Its a interesting mix. Adams voice sounds so real and pure. I remember Adam said in AI that "some people love it and some people hate it" - this can be that kind of song... also he has told that less is more. This song is simple and thats why its so hooking. Its Exiting to wait the whole album!

Whether or not "I" like this song is of no relevance to me ... I'm of the 'old school' & I listen to the radio .. never. However, I LOVE ADAM & I respect his choices for his career ... therefore .. I will support his latest album THE ORIGINAL HIGH by purchasing & downloading the songs that are released as singles ... GHOST TOWN included .. as well as buying the album in several versions .. don't know what 'explicit' really means but no matter ... will buy it anyway because I am a Glambert & I feel that Glamberts should ALL come together & give ADAM all the LOVE & support he deserves ... that's what a true fan should do & that includes good posts about the music EVERYWHERE not just here at 24/7!! ADAM is working his butt off to show us all sides of his persona through his music ... negative & immature whining helps no one ... especially not ADAM!! So forget about yourselves just this one time & do what is BEST for ADAM!! I'm going to ... hope you will too!!

I am a huge Adam Lambert fan. I am sorry that this is the song. Until he does a ballad or classic rock, he is not going to have a #1. And, yes, I know, he loves POP.

Ive been listening to Ghost Town all day. On first play I wasn't too sure but its a grower. The more I listen the more I like. Definitely a hit. To be honest he could sing anything and I would love it. He is just incredibly talented.

Went to the GHOST TOWN video on Ytube to give it some views & it already is almost at 100K views ... mostly positive ratings ... I think we should all try to give GT as many views as we can to up the number on Ytube ... according to the comments ... it seems to be doing extremely well there!! As well as at other sites on the internet!! Go ADAM!! Go Glamberts!! THIS is our time ... give it ALL you've GOT!!

tess4ADAM....Not everyone can afford to buy Adam's music at least not straight away as you can. I think it's a bit much to try sending people on a guilt trip by making them feel as if they somehow don't care about Adam simply because they may be struggling financially. Charity begins at home my friend, if you have money to go out and make the purchases as you say you will and good luck to you, but spare a thought for those who would like to help out but simply cannot. Your attitude runs a risk of putting people off buying and supporting Adam all together, bad manners towards other fans does nothing to help Adam either.

Oh no.. the song was not what I expected.
I love Adam so much, mut Ghost Town.... not really my cup of tea. The first part was ok, but then I really changes something different. Oh, I hate myself saying this but this is my honest opinion.

Even if Adam doesn't get the support he deserves, no one could say he was doing too badly, he's a very wealthy man compared to some.

Far from it .. just get tired of reading all the negative remarks here ... as I usually don't comment that much b/cuz my words don't convey my thoughts too well. By all means .. I'm only trying to give a little 'pep talk' to those that are not quite sure that ADAM made the right choice with GHOST TOWN as the lead release for the album. I am leagues away from being able to spend a lot of money on anything in this world or capable of physically attending any of ADAM's concerts. I have to rely on Ytube vids & those that are posted on the internet to see these concerts. I'm a true Glambert & I just want to see ADAM succeed like any other fan.
