(popmusiclife) Adam Lambert says the only thing his new single, "Ghost Town", and Madonna's current single, "Ghosttown", have in common is the title. Issued just two weeks after Madonna's, Lambert explains his shock at discovering both artists were releasing singles with the same title at the same time.

A Ghost Town depiction
The Hollywood sign in dilapidation
A far cry from its film domination
Out swoops a black Raven, perches
Atop a solitary pole...looks left and right
Nothing much in sight, rubble
Adam walks in...downtrodden
Perplexed at what happened
Wanders aimlessly the abandonment
Tries to believe in God but life sold out
Caw! Caw! Caw! ...Raven cries out
Dives into the convoluted Canyon
Enlightened by its resilience
Adam picks up the remnants
Cut ! That's the wrap for the Ghost Town action
Lam-My
That's certainly something that would make you want to dance.
I wonder why Ghost Town was selected as the first single to be released from the new album. And then to have it come out around the same time as Madonna's Ghost Town is just strange. I would have thought that a song more upbeat, more positive, catchier would be the first release to catch the listening audience. I am ambivalent as to whether or not I like this song. I just wanted something so special, so dynamic to come from Adam to really get him to the top of the charts and have the younger generation into his music and talking about it. But maybe we have to wait until the full cd is released in June before final judgment is made(at least by me). I'm waiting to see the video for the song and how it relates to the lyrics overall.
To 6:17AM: Interesting comments...honest opinion, nothing cruel in your reaction to Ghost Town. Whatever you feel about Adam's new single, I would hope that as a fan you want nothing but success for him in this next phase of his career with the third album. I agree that we should wait for the complete cd to be released, listen to all the songs and then make a final judgment as to what we think of it.
I love Adam's description of his own Ghost Town. Existential dance goth rave. Hah! 6:17, even though I do like Ghost Town, I think you have a point. I was expecting a bigger sounding song with Adam using his "big" voice. Maybe something with a less somber tone. But it has certainly drawn lots of attention. My own guess that it was chosen because it is so different sounding. I assume the second single will be much different. Hope it shows the diversity of music on the album. He says there is something for everyone. I don't think the title issue with Madonna's song is really important. Two entirely different songs. Can't wait to hear the entire Ghost Town!
I've just listened to both songs back to back to compare. They both have their niche. They are both disturbing and foreboding in their own way. I like the beat and the whistling in Adam's song and it is different from anything out there that I've heard. But as I said on an earlier thread, it has forced me to face his mortality, and I hate that part.

I hope his next song is a beautiful power ballad.
I need one. Something to caress my ears, soothe my heart and curl my toes. I really need it!
I would wish for a soft, gentle song....but that would be too much to hope for. Not selling today I suppose.
Conflict may occur if one of the songs becomes immensely popular....(hopefully Adam's). The song is nicely crafted and I love the husky/rasp of his voice in the 1st frame but....there is SO much competition .... who knows what will strip the charts ... unpredictable, even by music experts/critics who seem to like and respect Adam but .... who knows! He has a solid following and we isn't goin' nowhere!!!
elloThe vibe on this site on many threads is sadly rather telling...not about Adam's new music but about the outdated and jaded expectations of many of his longtime more mature fans. His first single is barely out, still unheard by the majority of music listening world and you already wish for the next (more to your liking) single and talk about JUDGEMENT day re the album... The undertone of it all is so depressing and tells you did not read or hear what Adam has said about his new music, how it will be different... You just want what is familiar and safe...what you already know of him...on repeat. There will not be more singles and more touring unless his 1. single and the album sell well - and his fandom grows and changes with him! I love and follow Adam cause he brings something new and different on the table and in to my life. I trust he does that in the future too. Keeps his fans guessing and surprises the heck out of them. I'm talking about his music and professional life. So please look a bit further than your noses reach ---- Adam gets acknowledged and reaches new heights, HE NEEDS US ALL and LOTS & LOTS MORE ENTHUSIASTIC SUPPORTERS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE!
Hello! sorry, above, don't know what happened, why my post looks like that, I wrote it in paragraphs...sorry for mistakes too!
I do apologize for being "mature".....I had not thought of it as being a condition to cause perjorative comments and the feeling of disgust.
But, as I said "I apologize."
Since the opposite of "mature" is "immature" then perhaps those who are immature will also apologize for assuming that mature people are dusty dopes.
