Interesting take on Adam and his songs by this writer. Not sure I agree with all of it, but i like that she is fully on board with Ghost Town. So far, GT is getting great reviews, so am hoping this is finally Adam's big break into the BIG time!

Edit: the author of the article is a man. So I'm glad that HE likes Ghost Town!

So Adam is slowly but surely inching his way into our local papers; the other day, it was The Straits Times, now The New Paper...both very widely circulated and read in my country.

Extracted from given article / New Paper:

"On Idol, he flat-out crushed titanic 70s rock tunes such as Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love, Foghat's Slow Ride and Kiss' Rock And Roll All Nite.
It got my hopes up SO MUCH thinking he might go in that direction.
Alas, he ended up playing things way too safe - Sanitised. Pasteurised. Simon Cowell-ised.
He went for middle-of-the-road, and got crushed like a guyliner-ed possum.
Then something amazing happened. Queen happened."

This above portion reflects the writer's penchant for Rock music though it makes me deduce he doesn't know Adam that well ! as it's pretty one-sided and bent on one genre of music. Adam can do hard Rock but he has said so often...his concept of singing/entertaining/music, covers a very wide range of genres which I often describe as multi-genre...and that is due to his huge voice range and skills honed over years and years. It makes him stand out, very far from being "mediocre" or "crushed like a guylinered possum".
A fluent piece of writing though.

The author of the article has an interesting perspective of Adam's career so far. I agree with most of it, and am anxiously waiting to hear the other songs on his album. I hope he learned a lot from Queen, but he actually had the album written before he went on the big tour. So it is going to be more of what Max Martin and partner have come up with. Queen has exposed him to more people world wide, and especially the UK.
I think they have given him more confidence in himself too. This is definitely going to be a wait and see game. I wish fans would quit asking him to go on tour, before his music is released. Even Adam says he has to see how it sells, before he can go on any tour. If it does not sell well, I am expecting him to tour Europe and the UK, with possibly a very small tour in the US.

I disagree with the author's comments that Adam's songs are mediocre (apart from his liking Ghost Town). Indeed Adam's songs on his FYE and Trespassing albums are the best songs I've heard in years. Clearly, this author wants Adam to be a rock star (and not a pop star) when Adam has made it clear that he loves pop music and wants to sing it, and that pop music covers a number of genres of music.

Sadly, pop is a fleeting moment type of music. Few pop songs last beyond their first year.

Pop stands for Popular Music, and there are many Pop songs that have never died. Listen outside the square.
