Please remember Shosh asked us to be age appropriate for radio events.

Anonymous said...

Admin. Delete this if inappropriate. Who/What is age appropriate? Fans have invested time, energy, and money in Adam's journey/career and because a new demographic is desired, the fandom's mature members are undesirable. Just doesn't seem right. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Anonymous said...

5:33 it doesn't seem right but that is the way it goes but I do find myself drifting away from Adam because of it.I wouldn't go to a free M&G if somebody paid me. I can't help how my true feelings are.

Anonymous said...

Pretty clever making fans send in their pictures I do say.

Anonymous said...

Should be a age limit on buying Adam's music.

nancdruuu2 said...

I have no idea what this age appropriate business is, but I'm sure Adam would have none of it.

Anonymous said...

It's just keeping a distance from radio M and Gs. I don't have a problem with that. Radio wants a certain demographic. I can still text in my request to them. Radio's desire for a certain demographic doesn't stop me from liking Adam any less. I still have plenty of other opportunities to see Adam like at a concert M and G. Complainers are making trouble were there is none.

Anonymous said...

nancdruuu2, Shosh was the one that asked us to be age appropriate for the radio events so I am sure Adam is aware of it and agrees.

This is about Adam and radio, not about us. Don't take it personally.

For Top 40, under 30 years old is probably reasonable and under 40 years old for HAC.

Anonymous said...

Agree. I want Adam on radio, and what's best for his career at this juncture.

Dee R Gee said...

6:00, I couldn't imagine "drifting away from Adam" over the M&G issue. If you love his talent and his voice, then stick around. These M&Gs are only a tiny part of the big picture. If I never meet him in person, I'll be just fine. I've got plenty of ways to enjoy him.

Anonymous said...

The fans that were on a video I saw earlier were all older; and Adam didn't blink an eye; he loves all his fans. But, Shoshanna and his management is trying to introduce him to more fans; we know this. No feelings hurt here. Adam is the sweetest thing in he world.

He is so busy trying to get a footing into things, and he is very, very busy. His management is handling the radio and other promotions. I am sure if he heard anyone dissing his fans he would say something. You really don't know what goes on behind closed meetings.

Any body that would not want to have anything to do with Adam or his music because of this is acting like a spoiled child in my opinion. These people or person not sound like a solid fan at all. Where is the faith in Adam? All this is not easy for him; he needs our full support right now, and he has got mine. For those leaving because of hurt feelings; I will just have to double up my efforts to take up the empty space. Don't want to hear if you are leaving, just go; and good riddance!!!

All I'm trying to say is it is rare for an artist and management to be ashamed of their long-term fans. I will still buy his music and while I'm not upset over these M&Gs, I applaud the loyalty of Adam's fans, but feel badly that this issue has arisen, as so many fans have worked this past month to push TOH and turned themselves inside out. If the needing of the new fans is so important, then GB's should have been told from the start that the strategy didn't include them, until the date of TOH release. Then ask GB"s to be involved with the purchasing of the music. Just to give the younger one's a chance. Since I know my money isn't needed, I'll buy on TOH release date.

Anonymous said...

Adam did say to a fan that some of the music on GT was for her grandchildren.

glitzylady said...

Shoshanna's request was in reference to being mindful of the demographic preferences of the radio station... i.e. the preferred age ranges of the stations..

They weren't trying to distance the older fans so much as to help to make it clear to the radio stations that Adam has younger fans (which he certainly does!!) in addition to the wide range of other fans... So that the station will be more likely to play his music..

It's a strategic business decision in that case..And it makes sense to make way for other fans who have not yet met Adam to have access to the meet and greets..

I assume the same admonition will not be in place for any concert event meet and greets later on.. Although giving those fans who haven't had the WONDERFUL opportunity to meet Adam yet would be awesome..

Anonymous said...

The thing is if only older fans show up at the meet and greets the program directors will NOT keep GhostTown in their rotation!!! They think the older people do not really listen to their station. I honestly feel this is what happened to Trespassing. They would play Adam's songs until after the radio promo and then take the song off of their playlist. If we want Adam on radio we need to make this one little sacrifice!!!

glitzylady said...

Many stations in reality (sadly) did not play Trespassing songs at all, either before or after.. or even during Adam's promo's.. So far it's been going well this time around with "Ghost Town".. Many stations are playing it.. But we really DO need to be aware of the request that Adam's team has made re the age demographics (that I mentioned above..).. We've discussed this several times here on the blog.. We want Adam to have the very best chance in getting (and keeping) that radio play this time around.. And do what we can to help..

Anonymous said...

Many young people are not able to attend the Meet and Greets because they're either working or studying or both and that seems to be the reason there are older fans at these events because they have more free time. I watched a recent Meet and Greet interview and from what I could see, all the attendees were certainly not young.

Anonymous said...

Why organize these radio station M&G's at all?!?! Aren't these meetings a bit old fashioned & outdated way of promotion?!?!

Only a small bunch of people can get in, those the radio stations want can't be there, those that can be there, the radio stations don't want them there... lol.

Has it been studied whether this way of promotion is benefitting Adam's songs getting played and is this cost effective in any way. Plus all the TIME & EFFORT Adam has to put on this.

Funny and NOT funny is the fact that most radio people I've seen in the vids are themselves "OVER AGED" (re the radio stations' "demogr.rules"), LOL bigtime.

People threathening to leave Adam and stop supporting and listening to Adam for THIS?!?!
Really makes me RE RE RE!

I miss the "old" days when if a song was good, it was a hit. No necessary effort on the part of fans to sell it, just to buy it.

Dee R Gee said...

I miss those days, too. I was just musing this morning about Josh Groban, a singer who I often connect with Adam when it comes to power vocals, nice personality, etc. Who are Josh's core fanbase? I can't believe that they are largely teenagers, although I'm sure he has young fans, too. Josh fills huge venues, sings mostly covers, etc. Sells millions. I don't know the answer. Just trying to get a perspective on fanbase influence. I want whatever scenario that will help Adam's career.

Anonymous said...

Dee R Gee, Josh Groban isn't trying to get played on Top 40 radio so it is a moot point.

Anonymous said...

2:06 AM, What a ridiculous thing to say about the age of some of the employees. The point is the demographic top 40 stations want listening to their zit cream commercials. Over at the Oldies station they want the right demographic for their AARP commercials.

BTW you can see plenty of young people who are probably interns in many of the radio pics.

Anonymous said...

Well I don't care what Shosh or Glitzylady say, if I get a chance to go to a radio M&G I am going. The young people have just as much of a chance of winning tickets as I do. And if they can't go because of school then I am not taking their spot. Nobody showing up would be worse than ladies like me showing up. I have been a fan of Adam's since the beginning and supported him by doing voting, watching videos hundreds of times, buying multiple copies of CDs, etc. There needs to be respect for the older long time fans who have been supporting Adam and getting him where he is today.

Anonymous said...

Yes, we older folks have spent the big bucks buying Adams music and flying across the country and continents going to his concerts and are partly responsible for where he is today, BUT, we have to listen to the people in charge who know best about radio play and we want him on the radio don't we?

Anonymous said...

I agree, as an older fan if I have the opportunity to go to a radio M & G, I will certainly be going. I have friends in my age group who also are fans of Adam's one of them runs a fan club for him and we all agree that we have just as much right as younger fans to attend these events.

Anonymous said...

I don't believe that Adam's music on radio will be effected by older fans attenting radio's M & G's . Take a look at FYE, lots of older fans attended these meetings and Adam had lots of radio play with his first album. Older fans should stand up for their rights, 50 is the new 40, people are living longer and with their children grown up and moving away they want great entertainment not discrimination, if older fans succumb to this the next step may be to prevent us from attending Adam's concerts.

glitzylady said...

@Anon 7:53 AM
Not my idea.. But Adam's team know better than we fans do what this radio promo is attempting to accomplish.. I absolutely get what you're saying tho..

Anonymous said...

I think Adam's team need to find a new strategy to attract younger fans, one that's fair on everyone.

glitzylady said...

At this point, it's not about attracting younger fans per se, it's about getting him onto the Top 40 radio stations.. And HAC radio.. It's happening..

The younger fans need to be aware of him.. And with Top 40 radio play, they'll get that chance..

It's obvious that Adam DOES have younger fans, older fans, fans of all ages.. What he needs is MORE fans.. Which takes us back to radio play, popularity, music sales, etc.. Which could result in a tour supporting 'The Original High'.... All important to Adam.. And to his label and management.. And ultimately to all of us, his fans..

Anonymous said...

Adam's getting lots of radio play in my part of the world, I've been hearing GT everyday on more than one Top 40 radio station. It's still early and we haven't had many radio M & G's yet. I'm sure the radio stations know that Adam has a diverse fan base, but I believe the reason his new single is off to a flying start is largely due to his tour with Queen. This has given him the credibility he needed, radio can now see he has become a force to reckon with. They have also been making very positive comments about Adam saying how amazing his voice is, he can sing anything from classic rock to with Queen to his new pop album. I really believe it's taken time for people to discover Adam but thanks to Brian and Rodger it is happening, it's not an age issue.

Anonymous said...

Touring with Queen did not get Adam played on American top 40 radio.

Anonymous said...

9:08 AM, it is already happening. I heard they are going to pull younger people out of the lines at concerts to make sure they get up front.

Anonymous said...

Even if younger people get up the front at concerts it doesn't mean Adam will get more radio play. Most artists on top 40 radio are a lot younger than Adam so naturally they have a much younger following. Adam's 33 so not surprising he has more older fans than some.

Anonymous said...

10:18, Adam has older fans because he came from Idol. David Archuleta was 16 when he was on Idol and he has older fans.

Anonymous said...

Hello selfish people, question here!
Why it is so important for you to see him in M&G?
Is it not enough for you to hear him on the radio or concert?

He will not marry you or be your real life friend.

nancdruuu2 said...

Okay, I get it about us older fans. I will never do anything to hurt Adam and will continue to support him in every way. Gee, I hope Brian May doesn't turn up at a M&G.

Anonymous said...

7:53, 8:59, 9:08. Thank you for getting the point. To see Adam at a M&G could be a once in a lifetime event for any or all of us. About the younger demographic, none of us are keeping them away or from liking Adam's music. Most important of all, when it comes down to it, our money is what got Adam to this point and if it was not for the Glamberts spending their money, and countless hours on Spotify, etc., doing what Adam and management said to do the numbers would be a lot lower. I just resent anyone saying that the more mature fans should not be seen, but should blindly push, push Adam per management. This is not born out of not wishing Adam to do well, but if you bend down to this bs, then yes, there will be other things at which any of us will be unwelcome. Personally, I've never heard of an artist/management asking fans to be "age appro", at events, especially fans who have invested so much in the artist. Not too late to cancel those gifts, pre-orders etc., I'm not saying don't buy, sure get a copy, but wait til release date to do so. Plus how about the last roll out, where Adam was doing the boonies, didn't see too many young fans or radio playing his music after the visit. Are there any approved events where mature fans are welcome? The way it's being stated makes me wonder.

Anonymous said...

Lot of artists have old fans. This is not a problem.
The problem is the old fans WHO are stupid and can not see difference, what Top 40 radio station has as a customer. Even then they do not listen to the all good reasons not to attend these radio stations.
How many times you need to be told. Think before action.
If it's your son or daughter career will you be so stubborn too and willingly sabotage their future?

Why do not just enjoy the music? You are worse than paparazzi.

Anonymous said...

@11:11 took the words right out of my mouth.

Anonymous said...

If older fans don't attend the M&G's then it's better for the radio spins, is what I'm hearing. I'm thinking the younger fans are more into the other stuf, TS, KP, MC etc., exactly what I don't listen to. I hope this strategy works and the new fans will buy as freely as GB's have done. If TOH goes straight to the top for a few weeks, then goal achieved. If it doesn't blame the newbies. Feels like mature fans are being taken for granted by management. Is there not a way to get younger fanbase, without offending anyone? Adam will need all fans on-board, especially without alienating his core fandom. I'm just against all isms, which have always been a negative.

Anonymous said...

Pulling young fans out of concert lines and putting them up front like the rumor above said would certainly increase Adam's fan base.

Anonymous said...

I believe the request to snap a photo via tweet or instagram, as well as live stream on their I heart app tells us all that they expect a more tech savy person to respond. I would bet there aren't a great amount of "older" fans who do those things on a regular basis. It does marginalize some people, but I think they are looking for below 35 demographic as a responder. IMO. Even Shazamers and Spotifiers usually are already in play with younger people. My grandaughter has been shazaming songs for a long time. I learned how to help Adam out, but it wasn't something I did on a regular basis. Just hope his appearance on Summer series draws adults and their kids/grandkids
!!!!

For the last time this is NOT about excluding fans or even getting new fans. This is about getting radio to play the song. If the people that show up are not in their demographics , the program directors won't play the song period. The DJ"s loved the songs on Trespassing last time also, the program directors wouldn't let them play them. DJ's told the fans this last time. If he doesn't get radio spins he will not get new fans and we will not get a tour. If you hardhead old fans want to go take your child, grandchild or great grandkid with you.

Anonymous said...

Adam's new album TOH is explicit, so I certainly wouldn't go taking grand-children or kids along. His new music is for adults from age 18 upwards.

glitzylady said...

There are TWO versions of the album.. "Clean" and "Explicit".. Two songs have the F-word in them.. Replaced with the D-word in the "Clean" version.

The "clean" version of 'Ghost Town' is the radio play version.. Fans can also buy the "explicit" version.

Adam's music is fine for all age groups..

Just choose your version and enjoy...

glitzylady said...

By the way, if you click on the embedded link above, you'll see that you can also listen to win by calling in to the radio station.. It gives the times during the day to call to win..

@ 12:31, you said it best! I don't understand why people are so offended. (From a fan who took her young teen grandson to his first rock concert - Queen w/Adam and he loved it.)

I am a Mom, I practice selflessness every single day of my life ... and I'm good with that... it stuns me the selfishness displayed by some fans... Business is business. Life is tough, sacrifices and adjustments need to be made. It is very simple, this radio spins issue, those who can not see the business issue for what it is astound me, as it's quite simple to comprehend. Radio demographics rule, bottom line. I am stunned that some fans can't comprehend the business side of all of this. GT is a very radio friendly song, I hope it makes it! I will do my part to help, considering all the BUSINESS factors involved.

Be serious, by the time a child reaches the age of 10 they have heard every curse in the books. From kids at school. I wouldn't worry about the little ones won't understand. Of course I live in California.

Anonymous said...

I don't think the little ones are the demographic the radio stations are targeting, and children do understand far more than you think they do.
