Can some astute Glambert give me the definition of "UNDERGROUND"? I know that the song is about obsession, but I don't quite get what the meaning of "UNDERGROUND" is in relation to the lyrics of the song. Margarita Lady

Margarita Lady... I didn't scrutinise the lyric but now that you want some deciphering, I examined it a little deeper. On the surface it refers to a person due to the pronoun 'you' which could be the case, like we say we are hooked on Adam lol! But the words 'hooked' and 'underground' seem to give the connotations of drugs. 'I'm hooked...I can't cut you off...In my blood...'

Underground is sometimes used to connote that it isn't mainstream. Like an underground artist or underground music. So maybe it means take me into that world. Adam used it in Shady as well with that connotation. But I'm not up on the hip lingo.

Another urban definition of underground is to cut oneself off from social contact, as students say they are "going underground" during exam week or working people during an important project. Adam says that Underground is the sequel to GT, so I guess "I want you to take me underground" is a plea for those feelings of loss to cease, by way of cutting off all contact.

Thank all of you so much for your comments about the definition of "underground". I knew it probably had some urban definition, but, I still just couldn't tie it in with the lyrics of the song. Adam is far too hip for me. My students said they think it means that if your love or relationship cannot be in the limelight with society to know, then take that love into a hidden place, without the knowledge of society, so the relationship can continue ... for an example, a hidden affair. And they also said that it could have the drug connotation, as "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" did. Therefore, all of you pretty much said what my young college students relayed to me. Thanks again to all of you. I just love to try to fully understand the lyrics of the songs to which I listen. Adam's "These Boys" is another song I just love, but it also has some strange lyrics. Yea, open-ended, valid interpretations; okay perhaps one more...When people want to overthrow something or someone, they go underground to gather momentum. But Adam doesn't need to do that, he's conquering city by city above ground. lol! Also, it reminds me of his FYE video, that scenario is in-tune.
