Adam Lambert knows the great rock stars and musicians not only of his time but also those ahead of him. It is no wonder he could relate so well to the music of Queen and the late Freddie Mercury.
During their performance, Lambert and Antonoff performed “Let’s Dance,” which was made famous by David Bowie.
In an interview before his performance on stage with Jack Antonoff, Lambert said that he is very honored to be asked to perform the music of a legend. He also says that David Bowie was a musician that was ahead of his time, notes ChicagoPride.com.
The “Ghost Town” singer cited Bowie for continuously reinventing himself and pushing not only new music but new ideas as well.
Lambert said that he believes that the 70s was David Bowie’s glam rock period and the “American Idol” alum said that he just loves how Bowie kind of pushed gender stereotypes out the window and made people really think about the difference between man and woman and kind of blend it up and confuse people.
He added that Bowie’s idea of what fame is and what celebrity is make the musician really stand out and be regarded as well ahead of his time. Like him, he said that there are also a lot of young musicians and artists that were inspired by the work, ideas, and music of David Bowie.
