I'm very angry!!!!! How can Mark Martel organize a show with Queen music right while the real band is in the tour. I looked at the concert postings and many people make bad comments about Adam.
Marc Martel + Symphonic Queen - Live in Mexico (Nov 5, 2017)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXRlhKp2D3I
Well, Marc is the front man for the cover band, so I guess he has "permission" to do it if he wants to. As for the comments, many people just don't understand the difference between Marc's role as front man and Adam's role as front man They are very different. I'm sure the audience at this show had a very good time.
I've alway assumed this Queen musical was something Brian formed long ago. If this is happening in Mexico it would be no conflict.
Didn't Adam try out for Mark's position when Brian sent his people to California to search for a lead? The crew turned down and Adam and now years later Brian has found out, probably from Adam. He was not happy that Adam's talent was overlooked, but it's all in the past and nothing to be done. It has actually turned out as the best thing for Adam. If he had been hired there would never have been Am Idol and .... the rest is all good history for us Glambert's.
I agree, Mirela, Marc's fans and Freddie's fans are very BOTH very insulting to Adam. It's not just that they PREFER Freddie's and Marc's voice (which does sound a lot like Freddie when Marc imitates Freddie's style.... so what?)... but they disparage Adam's voice and showmanship at every opportunity! That's inexcusable!
But, everyone, I searched out this actual quote of Marc's from an interview he had with Brian Mansfield for USA TODAY on Sept.3, 2014 about the furor between his and Adam's suitability as frontman for Queen.
Marc Martel said..."In my opinion, Queen has the current best male singer in the world singing for them," Martel says of Lambert. "I went to see their show in New York, and the dude does not strain or miss a single note. He's an incredible virtuoso!"
That, from someone who has been singing Queen's songs himself...says it all!
lollymop, Mirela Gheorghiu isn't referring to the musical "We Will Rock You". This is Marc Martel (lead singer of Roger & Brian's Queen Extravaganza band) fronting a symphony orchestra & choir.
Marc Martel really likes and respects Adam and his incredible talent. There is no bad blood between them. The "bad blood" is always among crazed fans who will disrespect another singer in some sort of defense of their favorite. It's very dumb, IMO.
Marc looks, acts and sings a lot like Freddie. So he was chosen to front the Queen Extravaganza. Brian and Roger chose him to do it for that reason.
Adam was chosen to sing WITH QUEEN because of his amazing talent, showmanship and looks. And because he DOES NOT look, act or sound like Freddie.
Haters will hate till the end of time.
If Brian and Roger wanted someone like Marc to perform as their front man, they would have hired him for the job. But they didn't. They hired Adam for the best reason possible: He is the best man for the job.
Well, there would have been less tension among the fans, if the tours weren't going on at the same time. Somehow it seems strange that Marc is able to do his OWN "Queen Tour" at all.
Not only is Adam slammed and insulted by Marc's fans, but Brian and Roger are accused of stupidity because they chose Adam over Marc....as if they didn't have any sense or any loyalty to Freddie because they don't choose the singer that "sounds like" Freddie...as if that's all that's needed to front Queen.
Unbelievable how much hate there is out there. I can't bear reading some of the things that are said by those people about Adam! Or by Freddie fans also.
Guess who's back?? Just a thought ... if you were offered tickets to a Queen concert on the same night featuring Marc Martel & co. or one featuring QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT for the same price at the same time .... which would you choose?? The Freddie sound-alike but not same charisma & a group of unknown musicians sounding like but not the real deal ... OR ... Brian May + Roger Taylor + Adam Lambert ... all three ORIGINAL artists ... two Worldwide ICONS & one Worldwide SuperStar .... which one would you spend your money on ... the Wannabees .. or .. the Already ARES?? I know I'd rather see the Real Deal .. the guys who ARE QUEEN + Adam Lambert for Real Talent ... not the amateurs!! So what's the big deal?? If there are those who want to say disparaging things about ADAM .. who are they ... why should we care if they don't want the Real Queen?? Let them Waste their money ... their opinions don't amount to a hill of beans!! JMHO

BTW....I notice some of the videos from the Amneville venue were posted by Delilah Bulsara. Wonder if there is any possibility she is related to Freddie. Bulsara is not a very common name. Freddie's mother is dead, and his only sister was named Kashmira.
Hi Nanbert ... out of curiosity I went to Ytube & played one of Martel's recent concert videos ... well ... of course they like him ... he SOUNDS like Freddie .... is being backed by a FULL Symphony Orchestra & Choir ... but that's all there is to that concert ... just stands in front of the mic & PRETENDS he's Freddie!! Just made for all the Queen Purists & of course .. the Martel fans!! No fun or entertainment whatsoever ... sorry ... had to leave my 2 cents ... just so they know they're not getting away with anything!! He screeches when he hits the top notes ... Freddie didn't screech & neither does our ADAM!! These people are all just looking for a "Freddie Fix"!! They don't give "TWO F***" about QUEEN!! Save your anger for something really bad .. these are babies playing make-believe!!
Sorry I didn't make it to the stream today .. RL took a hand again .. in a good way!! If I'm back from the doctor on Friday I'll see you at the next one!!

It would be totally creepy to have Marc Martel actually be Queen's front man. Not because he's not good at what he does, but because the thought of having a Freddie clone performing with Brian and Roger would have to feel completely uncomfortable for them. How creepy it would feel. Brian and Roger know what's best for Queen's legacy. They obviously feel that ending their career with a vocal genius who "fits" the Queen identity without copying Freddie is the wise thing to do. And they are filling arenas at this stage in their career, strong as ever. That's great decision-making, IMO.
I have no idea why the Marc fans (and anti-Adam people) would think that a Queen+Martel pairing would be better. It would just look cheap, IMO.
Nanbert, haters love to spew their venom. The vast majority of fans who attend the QAL shows are loving Adam. They accept him and understand his role. No copycat, no clone, no look-A-like or sound-a-like. No cheapening of the Queen persona. I know it's hard to ignore the haters, but it will make you a lot happier if you do. I learned that lesson quite a while ago.
Re Marc Martel and the Symphony in Mexico: Symphony orchestras everywhere do concerts based on "the music of....." and invite talented vocalists to sing the music. The video linked above was posted by Queen Extravaganza, the Queen sponsored official Queen tribute band fronted by Marc Martel. To be honest, I have no problem at all with the fact that Marc Martel was invited to sing with the symphony, who was clearly honoring the music of Queen. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Side note: when Roger Taylor put together the Queen Extravaganza tribute band, which has been traveling the world for more than a few years, I was very impressed with Marc's ability to imitate Freddie Mercury. Obviously so was Roger and Brian May too. There are Freddie purists, Marc purists, and of course there are Adam purists out there. A few cannot resist slamming one or more of these good men. They are/were all talented in their own way. I personally have long since stopped reading negative comments about Adam, as it just ticks me off. Brian May has publicly said more than once that if fans don't like Adam, don't come to the Queen + Adam Lambert concerts. As we well know, Adam is Brian & Roger's only preference to front the band Queen. That's all that matters to me. Adam is an original, interprets the songs and does an amazing job. He's "one in a billion" and the "GFG" i.e. Gift from God according to Brian & Roger. Hard to beat that accolade!!
No sense being upset about people's opinions that frankly don't matter to me i.e. Adam haters etc.. Just my thoughts....
I think Martel is guilty of fueling these comments about Adam and implicitly offending Brian and Roger. One is to play a cover after a song in a club and another is to organize shows of this magnitude exactly when the real band has a tour.
Maybe the opportunity presented itself and he didn't want to turn it down. He has the right to put his own career first.
It would be interesting to know if Marc Martel secured the permission from Roger and Brian to embark on his OWN tour with Queen music....and if so, what was their answer. In other words, it's possible that they did not agree to it, but that they have no legal recourse to stop him from launching a "Queen" tour.
This is rather tacky of Marc, IMO, since Queen was good enough to give him the lead in the "Queen Extravaganza", where he became well known....in effect, they actually launched his career...then he goes off on his own and capitalized on it with QUEEN's music....in direct competition with their own tour.
According to bio information, Marc had been a lead singer for a Canadian rock band...and his voice had been compared to Freddie Mercury's for years, before a video of him imitating Freddie in a Queen song on Youtube went viral... and eventually led to him being included in "Queen Extravaganza".
He still has his own music, own albums, and own tours....but it seems that people prefer hearing/seeing him imitate Freddie singing Queen's music. I would have thought that presented a "conflict of interest" with "Queen Extravaganza" AND "Queen and Adam Lambert" which should have been covered in his contract with Queen.
Marc does a good imitation of Freddie's voice, and although he slightly resembles him, that is as far as the resemblance goes. He has nowhere near the presence, personality, showmanship or elan of Freddie ....and Adam. They are the COMPLETE packages!
We don't know what is in Marc's contract, but apparently it doesn't prevent him from doing these kinds of gigs. Singing Queen songs with a full orchestra sounds like an enjoyable concert, IMO. It was done with the Beatles' music all the time. I don't think Brian and Roger would have a problem with Marc doing this kind of thing. I think they would just call it "making a living."
Not everything you play with an orchestra sounds good. My husband who has musical studies and is a sound engineer thinks Martel's concert with this orchestra sounds bad. The orchestra is extremely mediocre and Martel's performance the same. If Adam's fans praise such mediocrity then what should we expect from Martel fans?
Just listened to Marc Martel singing some of the Queen songs. Honestly, I don't particularly like the way he sounds. There are some spots where he sounds a little like Freddie, but not enough to say he sounds exactly like Freddie. I am trying to be fair, but he does go off key every here and there. The decision as to who should be Queen's front man has been made, several years ago, by the people that have a right to pick the singer they want, Brian and Roger. The Queen fans need to respect their decision and accept that Adam is here to stay. Constantly putting him down is really tiring.

And that's the Truth!
Yes-s-s-s....You can say THAT again!... Lynn and lollymop. LOL
I am so tired of the constant Adam versus Freddie "war" & very nasty comments from both Adam & Freddie's fans. It shouldn't be an issue at all.
@fluttsup
Absolutely true..
@glitzylady .... and now there's the Adam versus Marc Martel "war" with fans on both sides being hypercritical. Nastiness & jealousy are not admirable attributes.
I realize that this constant "war of words" by ADAM & Marc fans + Queen Purists is tiring & certainly not admirable but how do we stop it? Must we always be the ones to turn the other cheek, walk away & let them have at ADAM & Queen?? Doesn't sound fair nor an easy thing to do ... especially since they don't mind saying unnecessary really harsh & hurtful things about QAL!! I'm trying to bite my tongue & view the videos on Ytube without minding what is said in the comments but somehow I feel I'm not being a proper QAL fan by keeping silent!! The only thing that soothes my wounded & savage breast is knowing that NONE of what they say matters & WHO GIVES TWO *** ... you can fill in the blanks!! As far as I'm concerned .. GOD has let me live long enough to view & experience one of the Most GENIUS Pairings of the World's Greatest Artists in my Lifetime ... QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT!! ROCK ON FOREVER GUYS!! LOVE 'n LIGHT >>>
