Jesus Christ Superstar...by Andrew Llyod Webber. I watched this cinema musical many moons ago; very touching song by character Mary Magdalene who followed Jesus everywhere until His Crucifixion; and it is recorded in the Bible that she was the first person who went to His tomb and discovered His body was not there...Jesus' Resurrection. Love this song. Adam can play Jesus Christ because the songs require a very powerful empathetic voice who feels what Jesus felt. Adam once remarked he could play Judas.
He sang ... Heaven on their minds ... which was the song that Judas sang in the movie & ADAM did it at a small community theater when he was about 22 years old. I found it on Ytube ... ADAM was amazing then too ...
Thanks Nanbert and Lambert Outlaw for the link. I had not even seen this wonderful performance of Adam. I think now Adam would sing even better because he reached vocal maturity.
Yes Mirela... Adam has said himself that he has pulled back a lot since those earlier days....now that he no longer feels the "need to prove himself" anymore.
But, as we can see with these tour videos, he certainly doesn't "spare" his voice...he DOES still like to "fly" it off to places most singers can only dream about....and we mere mortals can only marvel at!
Amazing! Adam's vocal technique! He "spends" that voice like there's "plenty more at home"!
Some of those "whoops" and "intermediate asides" he lets out are probably unecessary embellishments but display his exuberance and utter confidence in his voice's sustainability. In other words, he's not pacing/saving himself....because it's not needed....so far.

ReplyDeleteHe sang Heaven on their minds. He uses his lower range, which I love.

Heres a video of a very young pre-Idol Adam singing Judas's "Heaven On Their Minds" from "Jesus Christ, Superstar"... possibly from some recital.
