@adamlambert "Ooooh!!!! Exciting!"
There is much speculation amongst Adam's fans that he may be involved in the production. He has expressed interest in portraying the part of Judas and has previous experience singing one of the songs from "Jesus Christ Superstar" (video of his 2007 performance embedded below). His schedule seems to allow time for rehearsal and filming before & after his Australia & New Zealand Queen + Adam Lambert concerts coming up early next year..
Soooo...hmmmm..... what do YOU think??? (It's fun to consider the possibility..).

Alice Cooper Cast as King Herod in NBC's 'Jesus Christ Superstar Live!'
EXCERPT from the Hollywood Reporter article (linked above) and in the tweet by @craigzadan
Rock ’n’ roll icon Alice Cooper has been cast as the flamboyant King Herod in NBC’s staged rock concert of Jesus Christ Superstar Live! Also joining the special, which will air on Easter Sunday, April 1, is British theatre director David Leveaux, a five-time Tony Award nominee. “Alice Cooper, whose theatricality is the stuff of legend, is the perfect rock star to play Herod in our live production,” said Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment. “Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice wrote a showstopping musical number for Herod, and we all look forward to the ‘King of Shock Rock’ taking on the King of Judea. As the casting for Superstar ramps up, we can feel the excitement building for this brand new concert experience of what has long been considered the original rock musical.”
Watch below:
"Adam Lambert performs “Heaven On Their Minds” [10-15-2007] from the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the “Valley Musical Theater Presents: Broadway Unplugged” at the John Anson Ford Theatre in Hollywood. It is a benefit for the theater and is a showcase for many of his “Wicked’ castmates, as well as many other musical theater performers.” "

Adam you must try out, you will blow them away. With a voice like that you are a true star. The people at 24/7 knew this a long time ago. Wake up people don't you see that. He should be the half time entertainment at the super bowl 2018 with queen or by himself with the band. It's always the same people. What's wrong with this picture.
ReplyDeleteI saw an interview where Alice was talking to Paul Rogers and he said he knew Adam would be perfect for Queen when he saw him on AI.....so he is familiar with his talent.
ReplyDeleteCreamtangerine...I agree. But I doubt if there will be a "casting call" for Adam to try out for....they will just pick who they want from established singers with a known ability and repertoire and approach them for an try-out if they are interested.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, Adam will get that call...if he wants it.....and his tweet/interest shown here makes me think he does. I can't believe anyone could be better. Adam has already said that he would like to play/sing "Judas" one of these days.
Strangely, the above video of Adam is the same one I introduced in comments a few days ago, when the subject of "Jesus Christ Superstar" somehow turned up. There's no doubt he could sing that part, after seeing that video....although unfortunately he does do a good bit of "showboating" in it... ah, youthful exuberance!
I suspect that IF Adam is being considered for the part of Judas, he's already been cast but has not been announced yet..
ReplyDeleteHe's been dropping a few little hints for the past couple of weeks so hmmm....
Sounds like we'll be hearing about the rest of the cast very soon. In order for it to be ready by Easter on April 1st, 2018, the rehearsals would be starting up fairly soon. Probably right after the holidays i.e. after Christmas & New Years Eve.
Adam will be finished soon with the 2017 Queen + Adam Lambert UK shows (last one in Birmingham on Dec. 16th) and doesn't start up again with the Australia & New Zealand shows until February 17th, with the final show being on March 6th. So theoretically he would have time to be involved in the JCSS production.
Very excited to think this could happen for him.. It's been his dream for a long time. So fingers crossed ....
I posted about with on the previous Chatty Man thread and I'm glad it showed up here with the photo of AC. As I said in my previous comment, I think Alice Cooper is a great choice for King Herod. Herod is cynical and sassy and sarcastic to Jesus. Doesn't believe he is a divine being at all. He mocks him and threatens him. It's a very juicy role. I love the other Herods I've seen in this role. They are very over-the-top. AC will do a great job, I'm sure.
ReplyDeletePRAYING that Adam gets his dream role as Judas. That's also a pivotal role with chorus parts as well as solos. Fingers, toes and eyes crossed!
Glitzylady....my curiousity is piqued by you saying ..."He's been dropping a few little hints for the last couple of weeks"....
ReplyDeleteWhat "hints" are you referring to? I'm all aquiver!........
BTW...just on a hunch...I checked out Youtube for "Alice Cooper - King Herod's Song" and I found it, if anyone's interested -- that is, I found an earlier version that he sang in the 1990's I believe.
