Info: Adam was doing an interview for @ABCNetwork today for the documentary "The Show Must Go On: The @QueenWillRock + @AdamLambert Story" that will air April 29. AdamL_Daily 3h
Can't wait to hear that interview about the doc! Hope it gets a lot of promo. I'm really looking forward to seeing it. It will have a real focus on Queen and ADAM!
I'd entitle it: The Show To Go On The Adam Lambert Story...rather than The Show Must Go On, because the latter implies desperation reminding us of Freddie's end which is portrayed in the song: Empty spaces, what are we living for? Abandoned places, I guess we know the score On and on, does anybody know what we are looking for?
I do think it a great title as Adam takes The Show onto a new level but on second thoughts, Adam knows what he's looking for! He just stepped into the big league arena taking on the big boys in the business. Okay, reality check: he needs Queen to help him climb that great big hill to reach his destination. Perhaps a more forward-looking title: The Show To Go On Adam Lambert Story. He did resuscitate Queen. How about it Dr Brian May?
Love this fan art by Sharka except for one thing ... the red hand ... I prefer the flesh colored hand with a black glove & black nail polish ... just my preference ... otherwise it is lovely ... so handsome ... ADAM!! Soul searching stare right at you ... only a painting yet so realistic!!
Lambert Outlaw...I agree about the red hands/long nails....especially as in the printout underneath there is a reference to @majestyblackgloves which Adam often advertises. Also, that hand seems to lead people to see a "black" or evil character in Adam's costume.
In fact, as I said earlier, Adam has more likely taken the title of his costume from the "The Scarlet Pimpernel" book/play/movie/musical....as a play on words by shortening it to "The Scarlet Pimp".
I read the original book eons ago, but was not aware until I recently checked it out that "The Scarlet Pimpernel" was made into a movie in 1992, and a broadway musical in 1993....both using that same name.
Actually, in the story, "The Scarlet Pimpernel" was the name assumed by an aristocratic folk hero during the French Revolution to keep his true identity secret. A pimpernel is actually a plant with red blossoms.
So, everyone, maybe you should stop thinking of Adam as a Dracula-like character, and instead consider him dressed as a 1790's BATMAN....and a master of disguises.
Who knows, maybe Adam would like to resurrect the musical "The Scarlet Pimpernel"!
As far as "The Show Must Go On"...that phrase is SUCH a "mantra" of the theatre.
The obviously disillusioned, and possibly broken-hearted, actor laments that he must play his role no matter his inner feelings...."my heart may be breaking...my make-up may be flaking...but my SMILE still stays on".
I've often thought "The Show Must Go On" is a deliberate modern interpretation of the same sentiment in a famous Aria from the Opera "Pagliacci"...in which the clown sings of having to make people laugh while his heart is breaking ("Vesti La Giubba"). I suspect that most of you would recognize having HEARD the Aria at some time during your lifetime....but unless you speak Italian, you wouldn't have understood it. Check out Pavarotti singing the Aria on Youtube...magnificent!
I would love to hear Adam sing "Vesti La Giubba" one of these days. His gorgeous tenor voice has become richer and fuller since we first "met" him on AI.
Nanbert ... I agree with you about hearing ADAM sing some of those classic arias from some of the operas ... I'd also love to hear him do a love duet from La Boheme or Madama Butterfly ... two of my favorites ... maybe he & Lady G. could do them ... I think she would make a perfect partner for ADAM ... but nobody is interested in the old classics I'm afraid so that's going to be just another dream that won't come true!!
Lambert Outlaw ...I think you have probably already seen Adam sing a portion of "Nessum Dorma"...from the opera "Turandot" by Giacomo Puccini...which he sang recently at a private performance in Italy. As you know, Puccini is also the composer of your two of your favorite arias, "La Boheme" and "Madama Butterfly"....and has the amazing ability to reach the deepest levels of emotion in his poignant arias. Adam does him justice.
If you haven't seen the video yet, just Google...Youtube - Adam Lambert - Nessun Dorma. There are several cell phone videos available there....of verying quality. I originally posted one that I considered of the best sound quality, but removed it after I realized it took one to a facebook account, which the owner may not have wanted.

He's beauty and the beast all in one. And I mean beast in the best possible way.
Black heart on beautiful face; that's a contrast.
