Darn good review of the concert last night (9/27/19) in Toronto from the Toronto Sun.  This is followed below by a feature video piece by the Sun interviewing concertgoers as to what inspired them to attend the concert.

"He’s a killer Queen. That would be Adam Lambert, who hit all the right notes – big, high and thrilling ones at that..."
"Honestly, it’s hard to imagine anyone else now other than the big-voiced American Idol 2009 runner-up following in the gigantic footsteps of the vocally gifted Freddie Mercury..."
"For all his fancy dress attire ... Lambert was really all about singing in the extreme.  He excelled on (the) Queen classics..."

Very complimentary to Adam, but would have been happy to see the identification of him as..."American Idol 2009 "runner-up"... FINALLY omitted, or at least, changed to "alum".

And the reviewer might not have described Adam as "extremely humble" if Adam hadn't said
..."I'm not Freddie. I know, it sucks!"

IT DOESN'T SUCK, ADAM! DON'T BELITTLE YOURSELF LIKE THAT! People will believe what you say...and it is wrong! You're fantastic! You're One in a Billion, a GFG! There's nothing to be humble about!

I whole heartedly agree. Nothing about that phenomenal talent Adam Lambert
Sucks. Every concert attendee is damn lucky to be there in the face of greatness of all these men. By their own admission they would not be doing these concerts if not for Adam. I just read a great review very complementary to Adam.

The runner up crap needs to go as well. Most of us know the questionable voting deal that went on that year. But no matter what Adam sure is tbe winner in career from that year among other years. Not winning as he should have hurt him zero. According to the recent documentory it was the best thing that ever happened to him.

This reviewer gave a very positive write-up. That's great! But it makes me laugh out loud that he gave the show three and a half stars instead of four. The guy just couldn't bring himself to give that last one-half star. How ridiculous is that? Struck me as very funny.

And as for the runner-thing, I do find it irritating when Adam is described like that, although it's technically true. I like "alumni" a lot better. Adam's just not a runner-up kind of guy.

Well....I guess we all agree on THAT subject.

Now a charming and humorous change of pace that I discovered while browsing the current concert season on Youtube. Watch Brian run across the stage to hug Adam after he has thanked him and Roger as icons, after "Killer Queen", and before the "Speech" in Toronto.

https://youtu.be/c3xGQOEOiP8

This must have been cooked up between Brian and Roger, because at about 3:34 you'll see Roger lean over and call to Brian...and a couple of words are exchanged before Roger nods and then runs over, open armed, to hug Adam! Enjoy!

SO funny...SO touching! You gotta love them!

I've gotten past that "runner-up" BS .. I counter in my comments with "ADAM wasn't given the title but he certainly was the WINNER of Season 8 & anyone who watched the show would tell you that .. even the one who was given the title"!! I feel better after I get that off my chest feeling that Season 8 there was no "runner-up" ... only one unproclaimed WINNER ... I think AI has been trying to make amends by having ADAM on every season since then till they closed & even now that there's a new AI!! ADAM's the Best Contestant EVER & they know it!!

I think it's sweet that ADAM wants to tell the people he isn't trying to replace or imitate or replicate FREDDIE in any way .. just to acknowledge the "pink elephant" in the room!! It puts everybody in a better frame of mind so the fun can go on & his respect for Brian & Roger is something he really wants to convey with every performance ... ADAM is that humble .. I really LOVE him for doing it!!

Now I'm off to check out the videos from Toronto .. can't wait ... wonder what is going to happen 9.28.2019 & what landmark are they referring to!! I can't even begin to imagine!!!

I wish they would leave out the "Idol runner up" thing too, BUT to be fair, not everyone knows who Adam is.. And Idol is an identifier, certainly not necessary for us long time fans, but I still run into people who have no clue who he is.. And of course many who love him. Perhaps someday it will no longer be necessary to have that phrase in there somewhere when discussing Adam in articles, reviews etc.

I don't see Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, or Kelly Clarkson very often described as AI alums.. I suppose I would like it a little more if he was at least called an alum... and we do occasionally see him described as an AI winner, which is nice in my opinion :))))) And boy was he EVER a WINNER!!!!

Considering the fact that Adam is considered to be the #3 richest Idol alum (total net worth for this year as of June 2019, with clearly more coming in every day this year..)... I also suspect that Adam isn't particularly concerned with being labeled as an AI runner up.. He's doing just fine.. And appreciates Idol for giving him the chance to prove himself to the world. Which he sure did!!

Bottom line, I don't really mind as long as the praise in the reviews is effusive and wonderful. Which it nearly always is.. Because that's what is most important to me.

I heartily agree with all of you. Do Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Daughtry, et al, reviews all start with "American Idol winner" or "runner-up"...? 10 years and several Top 40 singles have gone by, but these writers insist on sticking with this line -- do they have no clue how BORING they are getting..?!?

I mean, how about "Grammy-nominated recording artist"...?!?!

He # 3 riches Idol. Think Kelley Clarkson has over 7 years ahead of him on Idol making money and around 4 more years Carrie Underwood has on him. Betting 7 years from now he will be worth more than KC is now. Not that he trying to make it a contest he is not.
