Pride Source "posts daily news and entertainment, with an emphasis on developments impacting LGBT and allied citizens across Michigan and beyond."  They recently interviewed Adam Lambert regarding his new EP/album, VELVET: SIDE A, his work with Queen, and about LGBTQ issues, among other topics.

"So a lot of the changes that I made were to protect and insulate my creativity a little bit more. I felt like as an artist I wasn’t reaching my fullest potential, because a lot of the things that were being done were being done where the main motivating force was money or popularity or obvious things that pop music revolves around. I think I just had to get the balance right. Obviously it is a business and I’m still playing the game to a certain extent, but the balance was off. So that was the big, important realization I had."

"One of your Glamberts wanted to know if you would ever consider doing a show where your fans could decide the setlist?

(Pauses.) Mmm. A whole show? No. (Laughs.) But I would definitely consider having some fan input on something in the show. Yeah, I think that’d be cool. Trust me, I’m on social media, I watch and look at what people are responding to and how people are reacting. On this project, a lot of this stuff was kind of for me. I wanted to make myself happy first and foremost on this project, but also, of course, I had my fans in mind when I wrote these songs.

.......

To clarify: You do trust your fans?

One-hundred percent.

Just not enough to create your setlist?

Well, it’s kind of like when you go to a restaurant and you let the chef pick the menu. Like, sit down. Let me give you a great meal.

I'm so happy for Adam that he recorded the type of music he loves. I still find it unbelievable that 10 years have past! I'm so proud to be his fan and never regretted it! Funny though about the fans deciding on the playlist for his show but he wouldn't want it to be the whole show! Hahaha

Well, I can't blame him for not giving his fans "free rein" to choose his playlist.....we'd have him singing things all over the place....without any continuity, smooth transitions, mood progression or vocal rest!

I was surprised when he described more than once in earlier interviews how thoughful and serious QAL is when planning their playlist. And the same criteria would surely apply for Adam's own music. Evidently, there's a lot more involved than we "civilians" realize.

Best to leave it to the experts! We've never been disappointed, have we?

Absolutely not. Right out of the gate it would be - Which Fans get to Choose? and would go down hill from there.
