The Times (UK) interviewed Adam Lambert, Brian May and Roger Taylor regarding the latest with Queen + Adam Lambert, particularly through the pandemic, as well as about Brian's recent health difficulties.  The interview was posted on Thursday, September 24, 2020 on their The Sunday Times website, presumably as an advance for actual publication in their September 27th paper edition.

“It is impossible to replace Freddie,” said John Deacon, the bassist, who last worked with his bandmates in 1997.  ...  But after watching Lambert shimmy up to May’s guitar in a red leather coat and high heels during "Turn It Up" at the O2 in London, or strut about to "Fat Bottomed Girls" in Dallas as a squadron of cheerleaders do perky formation dancing around him, you can only conclude that this breakout star of an American talent show has just the right combination of self-awareness, humility, camp humour and powerhouse vocalising to take Mercury’s spot on the stage without making it seem in poor taste.
“Adam will say to an audience, ‘I’m here to pay tribute to Queen and Freddie Mercury because I’m a fan like you are,’ ” says May, who met Lambert in 2009 after he and Taylor were asked to perform "We Are the Champions" with the finalists of American Idol. “We weren’t looking for someone when we met him, but he was so charismatic that it made sense. He’ll tell you he was scared to death when we did our first concert together before half a million people in Kiev in 2012, but he has tremendous confidence. Plus he’s a nice guy. You cannot tour the world for half a year with someone you don’t get on with.”

Bummer! I would love to read this article, but not by being forced to open a subscription to a newssource I may never access again. So much of this going on now! I find myself being constantly blocked online by newssources that immediately insist I take out a subscription before I am allowed to read even the first news article!

Thank you Broddy for posting the article, I was'nt interested in the free trial. Adam was destined to be frontman for Queen and found success with it. Sorry but not sorry to those who still to this day (eg. trolls on Brian's Instagram), want to cheapen Adam.

WOW! I never expected John Deacon to comment on Adam. I assumed his silence was disapproval. Boy was I wrong. WOW!

And yes, I know, it is only a temporary (free) subscription....but it requires all sorts of personal and financial information that I am not prepared to give...and may begin charging my credit card each month if I am not "fast enough" or attentive enough to remember and unsubscribe. In the meantime, another entity has more information about me than I am willing to give. After having been "hijacked" 2-3 years ago...and losing ALL my files and information (my life!) because I refused to pay a ransom, I now stay VERY close to home! I had always been careful before, but had no idea who/how/why I was hijacked...and therefore try to avoid opening any doors again!

Patria... try reading that again...that was not a current quote of John's, but used to contrast the writer's observation about Adam today....just handled rather awkwardly and a bit ambiguously.

Aha. I see, Nanbert, back to my original opinion.

That's scary stuff about getting hijacked. I don't depend on my computer as a storage for business. Yes I could lose some valuable stuff, but all is backed up by paper files (old-fashioned, I know). I think I'm ready to be without a computer if necessary because I know to many friends my age that have had to give up theirs for whatever reasons. I have a land line phone to go with my paper files. And a telephone book.

Good for you, Patria....stay careful. My commputer was only for my personal stuff...not business...but my bank and brokerage account (which I DID make paper copies of, thank goodness). But all my loved ones and friends... phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, birthdays and special occasions....and PHOTOS!!!! A journal I'd been keeping for a good while! A bunch of favorite videos, photos and interviews of Adam. Suddenly it was AS IF I'D NEVER EXISTED! All hopelessly encrypted and irretrievable. My computer was so messed up that I had to replace it and start from scratch!

Sorry everyone! This is no place for me to blabber about this!...I'm getting stir-crazy! but at least it might be a warning to all to be careful on the internet. There's a lot of "rabbit holes" in there!

I am perfectly happy with reading the portion of the article. I'm sure the whole thing is good but I'll take a pass at having to subscribe, even for a short time. We pretty much know the general content anyway.

I've had computer hack problems, too, some years back. A real pain in the butt. Been pretty good for quite a while. I've learned a lot about how to be careful and what NOT to do.

BTW....that's a really fun photo above of the three Maestros together. I assume Roger is pointing his forefinger at Adam...the photo was unfortunately cut off at a misleading location! Or..if not, that may explain the expression on Adam's face...heh heh.

Love that article, Patria! Such great homage to Adam and QAL in total. No rock band re-match has ever been so epic.

Yahoo! Live album shows why Lambert is perfect for Queen! 5 hrs ago. Really wonderful article. Do not know if you have it. Do not know how to post it. Please look it up it's really very complementary to Adam. If not posted already. Have not had time to really look. Also to Brian and Rodger. But really nails Adam.
