Tried to think of some new superlatives, but I've just run our. I'll just stick with super. :)

OT: Just watched a quick segment of GMA (or maybe it was The Today Show). Jennifer Hudson was performing live in front of a huge crowd. She did a medley of songs from "Aretha." the film she is starring in.

They might just as well give her the Oscar now. She's amazing. Aretha was very wise to choose her to play the role.

Jennifer has an amazing voice....but I wonder if she's actually singing in the movie....or is she syncing Aretha's voice? Or...maybe a bit of both?
Surely Aretha's "hits" should be in Aretha's voice.

I pretty darn sure that Jennifer is using her own voice in the movie. She certainly has the voice for it. I can't imagine the film using lip-syched Aretha for the song parts. JHud was chosen by Aretha herself, and Aretha had heard J's voice. I'm not an avid JHud fan, but I sure respect her vocal talent. I think the universal love for Aretha may give this film an edge when it comes to the Oscars. The love for Freddie helped the BoRhap movie become so popular and also gave it an Oscar edge, IMO. JHud no longer focuses on albums and touring. She's been very successful with acting. She already has one Oscar under her belt.

I hope Adam gets his own shot at a role that suits him perfectly. He's got the talent for sure. We know we'll continue to get new music from him. Hopefully more albums and tours. I'm glad he's got himself involved in others projects, too. Diversifying helps a lot!

A bit off topic, but since we're talking about Aretha....I hope her movie will include one of Aretha's most triumphant and iconic moments (IMO) in her and the Grammie's history....when, at the LAST MOMENT, she stood in for an ailing Pavarotti.....and sang his signature aria "Nessun Dorma" with his full operatic orchestra and choral group... still arranged in Pavarotti's key...at the 1998 Grammies!

She was MAGNIFICENT!!!!!! That ending!!!

Aretha was truly a vocal tour de force, just like Adam is. I've never followed Jennifer as a fan, but she sure has proved herself worthy of the accolades she receives.

Adam says he took opera lessons in high school for about a year. He replied in a recent tweet that it was a lot of work. He sang a well-known aria at one of his private party performances, right? It was lovely. I'd love to here him sing a full-out aria and let loose that powerful tenor voice for all to hear.

Dee R Gee....that partial aria Adam sang at that private party was "Nessun Dorma" from Puccini's opera "Turandot", the SAME aria that Aretha sang while standing in for Pavarotti at the 1998 Grammies....which I gave the link for in my comment above.

BTW....on second look, I realize that Adam's sweater in the photo above was knit from a metallic yarn...and looks very much like a sweater I had in high school, flowers and all. That metallic yarn was SO scratchy against my skin that I only wore it once! Couldn't wait to get home and get it off...whew! It went immediately into the trash! I wonder if Adam has found the same problem with his sweater.

I'd like to see the Aretha movie. I've seen the trailer for it & Jennifer Hudson is definitely singing. Her voice is incredible.
