Ever since Adam Lambert made his return to "American Idol" this season, fans have been buzzing about a possible performance for the finale show. And now, the "Idol" runner-up has finally cleared up the rumors about a second appearance on the hit Fox show.

Despite constant urging from fans, Adam has recently revealed that an upcoming performance on the "Idol" finale is not going to happen. He responded to rumors early Wednesday morning by stating, "Unfortunately not performing on Idol Finale. Guess they have plenty of artists booked. Catch me on Ellen tomorrow and Leno on Friday."

Adam provided his expertise as a performer and former contestant to "Idol" hopefuls a few weeks ago. The glam rocker took on a mentoring role, advising contestants and giving tips on how to optimize performance techniques.

While Adam won't be there for the live results show, he has already made his predictions about the winner for this season. According to MTV.com, Adam has pledged his allegiance to Toledo, Ohio native, Crystal Bowersox. "If I had to pick one out of those three, I'd probably lean more toward Crystal at this point," he told MTV. "I like her anti-establishment rebelliousness."

Too bad!
Adam was amazing on Ellen. If you buy IIHY on iTunes get it from the delux version.
Good luck to adam. Let's name it a hit!!!!!

What a monumental disappointment, but guess they were concerned that since Kris was the actual season 8 winner and it's supposed to be about this season's winners, Adam would understandably overshadow them all and they recently were very generous giving us good Adam time, which also raised their ratings for that night. I don't think too many people will tune in, but hope so for the contestants sake. funbunn40

I am so sad. When Adam was on was the only time I watched Idol after the first three shows. No reason to watch.

I have thought all along that there would be an "overshadowing" concern and a concern about appropriateness toward KA ('though I read today that Clay Aiken appeared at the finale the year after his second runner up placement, he was very popular). What I didn't know was if AI would put ratings and business and money BEFORE their concern about appropriateness and thunder-stealing issues, 'ya know?! Well, whatevs, as funbunn40 said - they gave Adam great face time this year!!

We're all so sad about this.....I was soooo disappointed that I even shed a few tears when I first read Adam's tweet. So glad there's the wonderful Ellen performance to cheer me up!

I'm disappointed. Guess I won't be watching the finale this year.

I won't be watching the show either. Very stupid move on American idol's part. More people would have watched and Kris would have benefited from the increase in viewers from Adam's performance. It would have been a win/win situation.

NO ADAM!! NO FINALE for me!! Think I'll watch LAST year's FINALE on Ytube!! or Bestarts.com or something .. anything .. ADAM!!!

Yea, but he got to mentor and that was totally unique and special. The night belongs to the new guys and it just seems like anytime Adam is in the house, it's hard to focus on anybody else. Makes me wonder how the AI Summer tour will go without 40 minutes of Adam Lambert to steam up the stage. No feather boa's, underwear, flinging jackets, wild hips - Ho Hum!!

"Beth I hear you calling, but I can't come home right now...." Do you remember the sparkling eyes and how B E A U T I F U L the man was and how he sang that song? It still brings tears to my eyes because at that time we were all praying that Adam would win. Oh well, he has won in so many other ways.

This years' finale will be so bad in comparison.
I won't watch, you can tell me about it.

Stephanie lool, I agree with you...that was hilarious! I'm glad Adam is not playing on AI (their lost!)that way I won't have to watch the show while I'm waiting for his performance.
Kris Allen needs all the help he can get so this finale is a great opportunity for him...but what song are the finalists going to play with him??
Either way, I am dying to see Adam's new music video for If I Had You!
Go glitter & glam,

Too bad. Since Adam's single and music video are being released, and his tour is about to begin, a mind-blowing performance on AI would have been a great kick-off.

Since Kris is no longer under contract to 19E, they are under no obligation to have him back ... or ever mention him again.
