Adam Lambert beats out Carrie Underwood for radio airplays

Adam Lambert continues to hold onto the top spot when it comes to American Idol radio airplays. The For Your Entertainment artist narrowly beat out Carrie Underwood. According to USA Today's American Idol airplay chart, released today (Monday), Lambert's Whataya Want From Me was played just 50 more times than Carrie Underwood's Undo It. Each song was heard on the radio more than 7,500 times last week.

Underwood and Lambert, who both found sudden fame during their respective runs on American Idol, are both currently headlining North America tours. Underwood just wrapped the first leg of her Play On tour and is taking a few weeks-long break so she can get married. Lambert kicked off his Glam Nation tour earlier this month to huge success.

Ironically, neither Lambert nor Carrie Underwood are considered the most successful American Idol. Kelly Clarkson was recently named the most successful star to come out of the Fox show.

Looks like WWFM is not ready to step down yet. Maybe it's waiting for "If I Had You" to replace its popularity?

Remember to request IF I HAD YOU on your local music station!

Congrats Adam! And hey, just give him time! Kelly Clarkson has been out there for quite awhile, he's well on his way with his "hugely successful" tour!!! Neck and neck with Carrie, not to shabby, I'd say!

So happy for him. He deserves all these success.

I have been requesting it daily . I don't understand . Why don't they play it ?

7:27, they don't play it here either. I don't get it.

Everyone, take 10 minutes and vote on VH1 for Adam. You can get in at least 50 votes in that time.

I love Kelly Clarkson. Her voice is amazing. I think a collaboration with Adam and Kelly would be awesome. I know he wants Christina. That would be beyond belief, but I also think Kelly's voice would also work. Her range is up there with Adam's.

I called a local station here and was told that IIHY did not test well so they're not playing it.
I don't get that at all?? Who's making these decisions??? Or maybe the DJ just made that up. Cuz I did hear that same station play it ONCE!!
duh..??!! That so makes me mad.

Glitz and Sparkles, that's ridiculous! If they only played it once, how do they find out they didn't test it well? I bet they just don't want to play an openly gay man's song. Those homophobic jerks! I bet they'll be so willing to play songs by female artists who sing about sex or hip hop music about dominating hoes.

Argh. I am so pissed at the radio stations in the US. They don't play good music at all.

I truly believe Adam will also pass up Kelly Clarkson even though I love her. Adam's CD is just to me, so encompassing of so many styles and so many of his songs have 'hit' power. I can't believe how much I love hearing his CD even after listening to it over and over. I have NEVER listened to one CD so much in my entire life and believe me I was a huge music fan in the 70's. NOTHING has stayed with me like Adam's CD. It truly is remarkable and I think will be up there with the best albums of all time. I think we have to be patient with radio airplay for If I Had You as we did with Whatya Want From Me. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and they didn't even really start playing it until about 2 months ago. The DJ's don't get it. Maybe after he has several hits they will start jumping on the band wagon for Adam's songs quicker as they do after musical stars have proven themselves...??? Just my 2 cents for what it's worth...

IF I Had You does not have the universal appeal that WWFM did - I know it mystefies those of us who would swoon if he sang Row-Row-Row Your Boat but that's the music industry. Just wait until Broken Open is singled and Soaked and Master Plan and, etc. AND there is a new album coming next year!! (ooo, I just got chills) LOL Adam
