Jive Records will end up dropping David Archuleta.

They dropped Allison and she sold 32,000 her first week. After 4 weeks of release David's album has only sold 37,000 which really is beyond horrible.

Part of it is the fact that when David was on idol most of his fans were pre-teens and now just a few short years later they have moved on and David is still very childlike even though he is 20 years old. It also doesn't help matters that David is most likely VERY VERY deep in the closet.

I think David's fanbase all move on to Justin Bieber...

Feel bad for David since I think he has a lovely voice. I bought his Christmas album last year and am looking forward to hearing it again thru Nov. and Dec. It's very good, IMO, and I never buy Xmas albums. I agree with Joshs 2nd paragraph and think it must be extremely difficult for David being a Mormom (the church was one of the 2 heaviest contributors to pass prop 8 here in Calif. - denying marriage equality). I read that Taylor Swifts total 1 week sale was the highest of any artist since 2005 or the highest for a female artist. Cant remember which one but good for her either way. Adamluv

Adamluv, it's true. I think Taylor Swift is overrated. I prefer Kesha.

David needs to get on some shows and sell, sell, sell. He is a really good singer. He just needs to be out there so people can see him. Yay Adam - I know that I always look for Adam's cd when I'm out and hardly ever see it or just one copy.

David does have a good vioce and plays the piano well.I also bought his Christmas cd last year and I'll be dusting it off for the holidays again.I wonder if Adam would consider a Christmas cd some year and he could put some beautiful Hebrew songs on it as well.Just thinking out loud.

I'm praying for the day when Adam's CD reaches the one million mark. Hope it does! As for Taylor Swift, she has an ok voice, nothing special. (Nothing CLOSE to Adam's.) As far as her songs go, they all sound pretty much the same to me. Adam is the ocmplete entertainment package from head to toe.

Country music fans are very different than others. Have many in my family and they buy albums, do not download that much. But they do get behind the artists they like. Look at Carrie's numbers, and Taylor Swifts--this is Country Music people buying them--plus cross over fans. Anyone who thinks that the AMAs did not impact Adam sale of albums, needs to think harder.

I wonder why they've put digital download numbers for Carrie Underwood, Daughtry etc, but not for Adam. I read somewhere ages ago that the downloads for FYE were pretty good.

@THE DARK SIDE - couldn't say it any better. That is exactly the case in your country and fortunately not with the rest of the world that's why it was easier for Adam to make it big in many other countries.

IMHO even if FYE has very very good materials for a debut album it had a hard time reaching milestones in America because his AI fans were probably expecting something else. They got used to hearing Adam cover songs and he did an excellent job but when Adam introduced to them the sound that he personally prefers they were taken aback. Plus the fact that the conservative Americans are still punishing Adam after the AMAs, it will really be hard for FYE to get the recognition it so deserves for now. So glad that finally it is almost there. I never wanted to sound patronizing but i have to admit that there isn't one song in FYE that i don't like. Yes, OTT but i love them all and could listen to the album even if people find it overproduced. Lastly, i don't mind the cover because i buy albums for the content and the artist. Maybe it matters to some but generally the cover should not be an issue at all and outside the USA such didn't hurt the sales. Just my personal point of view. Considering the rate Adam is getting his exposures and endorsements recently, i hope that things do get a lot better for FYE!

A couple of thoughts...

Anon @ 3:33 I agree, so the fact that her album sold a mil in a week compared to Adam is ~infuriating.~

Dark Side, sigh. =/ I guess so

Bing, Good point--> I agree with some fans expecting something else. I know it shouldn't matter but I do think the U.S. cover coupled with The AMA performance put some people off who would actually LOVE Adam's album if they HEARD it.

I just don't understand not releasing another single.. or a few more for that matter. there ARE more hits on that album. Look how well Sleepwalker and Aftermath (in Finland) now are doing overseas. More singles ON the radio would reach MORE in-between people and SELL more Albums...

As for David, if you read what his fans say you'll think he's the world's best selling artist. If there's anything to vote on they come roaring out of the woodwork and swarm like crazy to get votes in. Those #s certainly don't match...

Hard to figure out what RCA is thinking. We cannot go back in time and erase what was, but we can make certain Adam's sophomore album breaks records. He did say it would be more rock pop than dance pop, so time will tell. I can't wait. Meanwhile, no one has sold 1m records in a week since Britney did it a few years back. This is really awesome for Taylor, as she is America's sweetheart right now. I think we should be happy for her. Sorry about David's dilemna, if that is in fact what is going on. Speculation. Agree totally with Bing, not a bad song on the album, still listen every day and not tired of it.

Boy, they will be cutting the umbilical of Lee Dewize pretty soon. He is At Least better than
Danny Gokey. UGGGGGG How does AI judges let all those really good singers go and keep these duds beats the hell out of me. Speaking of duds,
Taylor Swift holds the crown for being a dud.
She is so not good. Who in the heck is buying all those CD's?

Agree with the above posts about Taylor Swift. I have listened very carefully to her voice, and honestly, there is nothing special there. I think there just is a large country fandom out there craving for a cute young thing such as her. She writes her songs about her ex's and I think that strikes a cord with many sympathizers.

As far as David, he does have a voice, but Adam has the complete package including maturity and experience like not many others at this stage of their lives. Adam knows how to sell it by taking it world-wide and thankfully his label has supported that effort.

Ke$ha, Katy Perry don't have much in the way of voices either, just catchy tunes which largely attract teens who propel the music industry.

Taylor Swift was on Dancing with the Stars the other nite, and you wouldnt think she'd need more exposure since her CD is flying off the shelves. Starbucks is also selling her CD. Why doesnt Adams management look into those 2 venues for good exposure for him? Adamluv

Taylor Swift selling a million copies in a week unfortunately, yet accurately, shines a light on the "typical American music consumer" in today's market. Kinda sad; especially since she's simply just an auto-tuners wet dream.

She is pretty, and can write a good "f**k you" song to all her beau's; her voice is just not real credible to me. Her and Justin Beiber are like the "Ken and Barbie" of the music world (if you catch my drift).
