I love Adam's notes much better than Freddie Mercury. JMO

Oh and remember on Idol Kara told him, you hit some notes that I don't think they have ever existed. She turns to Randy and asks him who hits those notes? Randy says Adam Lambert does. So who ever measured these vocal notes should come up with new ones and name it after Adam's.

Anonymous said...

As great as Freddie was...and I'm a big Freddie fan...Adam's notes are more melodic, and he has better vocal control that lets him bend them any which way he wants.

We've never heard anyone outsing AFL, and I don't think we ever will.

oh my lord. love Freddie and double love Adam, both are so great. We lost Freddie way to soon.

Plus Adam is cuter haha.
After hearing this again, I shake my head that Kris won AI !!

...and the picture of Adam at 2:11 is new to me and it is truly gorgeous...

Freddie was a creative master and now the world had another master of greatness!

I love the late and great Freddie Mercury, but I think Adam can give him a run for his money.;) I do think they have very different voices but great in their own unique way. Powerhouses.

Anonymous said...

Both powerhouse voices.

I love Adam's HUGE notes .... abfab. :-)

Anonymous said...

I love Adam tour jacket, emomohawk hair with makeup in first pic that's was crazy badass eneregetic Adam iloved..now he changed.

Anonymous said...

I hope we're comparing these two "powerhouse voices" in a good meaningful way, both Adam & Freddy are both fantastic vocalist! & both sang operatic music, hmm... I like the opera, with some rock n' roll!
I always thought Freddie was sexy! Maybe that was during that time in my life, & now Adam ...... sigh....... , WOW! Never , ever, ever, !! Had a singer do to me what Adam has done !! That's why Adam is sooo MAGICAL!! & I know I'm not the only one Adam has left in a state of shock, & a damn good one too!! Better yet, Adam has us hypnotized with his passion!!!!
Agree?!! MWAH!! K

When did Adam meet Pretty Kitty?

Anonymous said...

I love both of them, great singers. I am happy to say I introduce their great music to my teenager son and he constantly plays them on his mps player. But honestly, l love Adam more, he makes me think there! <3<3<3

Anonymous said...

@ MWAH K Yes I totally agree with what you are saying!I have never followed another artist like I do Adam. It is my greatest obsession and I am proud of it and happy to find others here who feel the same about Adam.I was always in awe of Freddie's talent, but Adam's voice does something more to my soul.

Anonymous said...

You can't beat Adams vocals. But I can see why Adam like Freddie's music so much.

Anonymous said...

"Adam's voice does something more to my soul."

I do agree!

Agree with posters, have always loved Queen. but Freddie never did to me what Adam does!!!

p.s where is everyone, its so quiet on here lately :(
I miss everyone..

Yes Freddie had powerful vocals and was a great showman but Adams vocals also do more to my soul!! Brian May commented on Adam's vocals as well. Perhaps someone should send this link to Brian May. I do think that Adam has to be their man when they decide to do a homage to Freddie!

Adam's voice is richer and more professionally controlled. His pitch and his ability to use that immense vocal range is impeccable. No one can touch the depth and fullness of his voice. HOWEVER, Freddie is a legend and was a great singer in his own right. I can understand Adam's respect and even worship of him talent.

Powerful singers have come and gone but as said here already nobody stirs the soul like Adam.
If you would put a tuning fork to my third eye while listening to Adam's voice it would vibrate Joy and Love.

Freddie Mercury was SOOOOOOOO unattractive, but he could sing. Adam has a lot more versatility though, he can cover every genre.

yes lizard ;yes what a great comment

I recenty read that a movie about Freddy Mercury and Queen is in the works but can't remember who has been cast as Freddy. I know that it was not Adam!

Comments:

I am both a HUGE Adam Lambert fan AND a HUGE Queen fan (I saw Queen WITH Freddie live 8 times 1977-1982).

Freddie Mercury was not a trained vocalist. In the early years (pre-Queen) he did not have the voice we all know. He was a trained pianist. And as for genres Freddie did record an opera album with Monserrat Caballé as well as rock, pop, and funk.

Adam is spectacular and is trained vocalist. I would love nothing more than for Adam to front Queen for a tribute show. It was a true moment of my life during the Idol finale with Adam sang with Brian and Roger.

Adam has a love and respect for Freddie, enough to have been asked to speak about him on the NPR show. I gave Adam the book, "FREDDIE MERCURY HIS LIFE IN HIS OWN WORDS" that Adam did say he read most of to prepare for the NPR interview (Kid Kraddock interview). Adam brings up Freddie when he as a performer, dead or alive, who he's like to interview or have dinner with (I've heard this several times).

IMHO, there shouldn't be a "vs." here. Two great vocalists from different backgrounds.

All this talk shows how even more important it is for Adam's CD to do well. He needs a larger audience that "gets" it. When all the glitz and costumes are put aside, the voice is above it all. C'mon world! (esp. U.S.) Open your eyes and ears and hearts!

HK fan, you mentioned it's so quiet here. Well, a lot of people are still without power because of the hurricane. I now many.

Agree with all the posts above. Our Adam is like no other, period.

Anonymous said...

I agree with all of the above, yes, he is hypnotic, magical and he does things to my soul that no one has done before, I admire and respect Freddie Mercury and his talent but I am under Adam Lambert's spell that is undeniably powerful and I have spent 2 years loving Adam Lambert the way I have never felt about any other artist to this date. He is the one and only.....indigo.

Anonymous said...

I absolutely agree that Adam has to appeal to a larger audience, to as wide a range of people as he can get. He is such an amazing talent who is so underappreciated and perhaps also misunderstood. There has been so much written or said about him that is at times unflattering or extremely negative that it often overshadows his stellar voice. He is the consummate performer in additin to being articulate, witty, smart, polite and self-confident. I think he is the most talented vocalist in the music industry today and hopefully with the release of his second album, Adam will gain the success and fame that he so deserves. I believe he will break down walls and open the minds of many who did not give him a chance the first time around. And when they decide to pay homage to Freddie Mercury, I also agree that Adam should be there in the forefront to lead it.

Freddy wasn't physically attractive, but his stage presence was "sexy". He had the power to pull in thousands and thousands of people and place them in the palm of his hands. Adam Lambert is physically attractive and the voice is sexy as all get out. He has the ability to seduce the pants and panties off of his audience. He has a mass appeal!

Anonymous said...

Off topic, but since it's slow on the news front... A really nice Adam fan video, lovely pictures/video clips (Adam looking gorgeous) and a beautiful song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVlTmQu1vKw

Recordings do no justice to Freddie when compared to Adam. Freddie died in 1991 so keep in my his records are more or less 20 years older than Adams who uses latest technology. Also clips chosen, very short clipses from Freddie and so much longer clips from Adam.. good grief ! Don´t understand why to compare. Adam is closest there is who can reach the high notes like Freddie did, why don´t you pick more clips from Night at Opera which is one of the best if not best Queen record of all the time. Even so what comes to stage performance Freddies voice is absolutely most strongest not even Adam can beat it, sorry i do like both performancers but R.I.P and respect to Freddie Mercury !!!

Anonymous said...

Adam's new management must step up his visibility in the media. It's their job to help him market himself effectively and show the world what we here already know. He's the best out there and is worthy of everyone's attention!

I agree A Night At The Opera is good album. My favourite song from Queen, You're My Best Friend, is on that album. The music video is my fave too. Freddie wears black nail polish and everything.

Anonymous said...

Nobody's voice, either now or in the past 60 years, including Freddy, has ever stirred my soul like the voice of Adam Lambert. Plus he has the looks, intelligence, charisma, personality, creativity and incredible stage presence to accompany that amazing voice.

It boggles my mind that the music industry and many sectors of the listening audience have not totally embraced and promoted such an incredible artist. It's doubly amazing to me that the reasons behind Adam's uphill battle for recognition and acceptance seem to be totally unrelated to his talent and performance abilities (especially in the US). Why is it such a big deal that he's gay, an Idol alum or that he had one so called "questionable" performance ages ago (again mostly related to the fact that he's gay!!!)?

I have my fingers crossed that Adam's upcoming CD will blow everyone's socks off and thereby prevent his detractors and non-supporters (i.e. some radio stations, television networks, award shows, bloggers, etc.) from continuing to hide behind feeble excuses or getting away with blatent ignorance and discrimination. I have no doubt that Adam's day will come because he is amassing a veritable army of passionate supporters that have become, and will continue to be, an unstoppable force within the music industry. I am very proud to count myself among that number. I have supported Adam totally since I watched his AI audition and I will continue to do so, because he deserves everything that will soon come his way.

- a very proud Canadian fan

If you scroll down to leave a comment with the audio on only....IMO you can hear the magnatude of Adam's voice in comparison. NO ONE sings notes like that. Remember when Queen was on AI and Kris began the song....and then Adam's voice came on so strong and so clear?Love Queen and Freddy... thought Kris was a really nice guy, but our Adam is in a league of his own.
OT I'm busy getting ready for my installation as chair for PFLAG Bellevue in a couple weeks. Just think,...a Glambert is going to be in charge!

Anon 8:27, I guess we were looking at different pictures of Freddie M. since I think he was very attractive. Especially liked the one with his aviator glasses! I didnt like the mustache but let's remember how many years ago these were taken, and styles and "looks" certainly change over time. Great video of both of these tremendously talented and gorgeous young men! ... Adamluv

I kinda would like to see duet from Adam and finnish Idols winner 2007 Ari Koskinen

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Li2ma3tUgw&feature=related

In finnish national epic Kalevala, there is a saying " laulaa vastustajan suohon " which is directly translated sing(chant) other contestant into the swamp.

I kinda would enjoy the show these guys could provide ;)

Freddie had his own magic and @ 11:49 is right the audience was HIS! He sang for over 70,000
during one concert! When I saw and heard Adam and knew of his stage experience and presence I thought.....if they ever do a biopic of Freddie, Adam's the one. Freddie was not handsome because of his protrudong teeth...but like Striesand didn't "fix" her nose, Freddie didn't "fix" his teeth. They were both afraid it would in some way change their voice!

They have announced a biopic of Freddie and (sob!) Sacha Barry Cohen (BORAT) is playing Freddie! I can only hope for the best. Freddie was an original......like Adam!

When I need a boost I go to the following link for a pick me up!.........

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgzGwKwLmgM

By the way, why compare Freddie and Adam, just celebrate both of them!.............JAK

P.S. @ lmb.......Go Girl!

Oops! Make that protruding teeth. lol......JAK

What happened to my comment about Freddie's biopic? The one where I spelled protruding wrong? It printed and then disappeared????????
JAK.......ghosts?.......gremlins?.......goblins?

Anonymous said...

@very proud canadian fan- Thank you for that- very well said indeed. I feel the exact same way and you just put it beautifully! I don't understand it either, but I live in US so unfornuately that explains alot. I do love this country but geez we need to work on alot of things FAST!

Anonymous said...

Most of us in the USA never heard Freddie that much because he was much bigger throughout the world than here. Most parts of US didn't welcome him. So we missed him and a lot of the other British groups because of censorship. Lyrics were too much for our prudish reactionary religious extremists.

So it's almost impossible to compare the showmanship of Adam and Freddie except through the videos, and as we all know, they don't really capture the feeling of a live performance.

Both voices are magnificent, and we should cherish what we have from Freddie and look to the future for gifts from Adam. They should never be pitted one against the other. JMO

p.s. Barcelona is one of the greatest most moving songs ever. If some of you haven't heard it, find it. Freddie knew he was dying of AIDS when he performed/recorded it.

Anonymous said...

Protruding teeth..Freddie? Hell, he could hardly close his lips. He didn't want to have his teeth straightened because he felt it would harm his vocals. Babs Streisand didn't have a nose job for the same reason.

Anonymous said...

all I can say is this comparison did give more adam notes and time frame than freddie. I did grow up with freddie and no one has stirred me like adam, it's crazy, so there is my answer to me- Adam is way better! (maybe it's the looks, maybe it's the personality, maybe it's the time in my life, but Adam has it all!

Off Topic: Since we are all patiently waiting for BB's new album, have any of you phantomed what it going to be like on these threads when it's released. I'm going to get me a bottle of wine chilled and spend the night here!! LOL

Anyways I'm really excited though....

Oh that sounds nice. Glass of wine and Adam. Only the concert could get better.

Anonymous said...

@anon 5:37PM Absolutely agree with you.
I understand very good that this video was created by Adam's fans and there are more Adam's moments than Freddie's:)
I still suprised who got the idea to compare these musicians. Both of them geniouses, have 4 octaves voice, have charizma, and intelligency. Actually, Freddie had bachelor degree in Art.
However, we still can't compare theme.
Like somebody said, Freddie never had proffesional training. Also, even he could could get high notes, Freddie coudn't hold it like Adam is doing.
Not so many people know that Freddie had serious throat illness. I belive, they call it throat noodles.A lot of singers with high range voice are suffering from this . If Freddie would have surgery he lost his voice forever. Actually, it was the reason Queen stoped the show few times cause Freddie coudn't sing.
Let's wait for Adam's Wembly with 100,000 people and Rock in Rio with 300,000 people.
I am sure, it is possible future for Adam. But, also, he needs to write Bohemian Rapsody, We Are Champions adn Barcelona.

Apologies if this has been discussed here before. Don't get to read as often as I want. What I don't get is why so many - especially gay men - are so snotty about Adam but think Freddy Mercury is a god when they are both SPECTACULAR (and similar) singers, both flamboyant and both very sexy men. I mean, what's up with that? I don't get it. I'll never understand all the Adam scorn. Sometimes I worry he'll never get his due. He SO deserves it!!

Anonymous said...

anon 6:08 I watched a program about F.M. and this gay guy was very mean about him not coming out when he was alive. I hated that guy. Freddie's boyfriend was very classy and explained alot. I can't remember the program but it was before I knew Adam.

Anonymous said...

@Imb , congratulations & not only do you need to make it a requirement that every Glambert need to buy the 2nd album, but please make it a law!!! Do I need to go to the white house & lobby, like a certain miss Darryl Hannah getting arrested for protesting, she's an enviromentalist? Good for her!! I'd get arrested for Adam but he has to pay for the bail bond!! Nope! Never been arrested!'knock on wood!! MWAH!! K

For the most part, the comments here are well thought out and very articulate and knowledgable and darn right interesting compared to a lot of other Adam fan sights out there, not to mention how easy it is to use compared to most other sights.
Thanks Admine for all you do to keep us happy. Hey, even SAD AL turned into HAPPY AL!

If Sasha Baron Cohen does the acting, why couldn't Adam do the actual singing? They do that on a lot of biopics. (See, your post is still there!) Adam has the better voice, but at this point, Freddy had the better writing skills. Of course, that can change as time goes on. OT; Adam listed #6 in US Weekly (on-line) as top 23 celebs out and proud.

Freddie was great, but Adam can actually sing.

For some reason HAPPY AL became ANGRY AL.
I just relised that people who made this video didn't know anything about Freddie. Cause if they would know anything they would never created such a FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF SSSSSSSSSHT
Did anybody on this blog listened just once 'In MY Defence", "Time", "Who Wants To Live Forever", "Mother Love". or "Winter Tale"?
"Winter Tale" was Freddie's Swang Song. He recorded it just two weeks before he passed away.
Sometimes people talked about something or SOMEBODY they don't have any idea what they are talking about>
Please, try to compare Adam with Taylor, Bon Jovy, even Elvis. But don't talk about person who was something very special, private, and lonely.
Nobody has any idea about Freddie, about his soul, love, and goals which he wanted to achive. And he did it.
I think it was big mistake even to make the movie about Freddie with this idiot Sasha Baron or whatever his name is!
VERY ANGRY AL
P.S. I hope Adam will never write the song like " Mother Love"

oh Al, I just wait from one minute to the next to find out what mood you are in because you are so important. I will compare and talk about who I want to, this is a blog big boss lady.

Freddie recorded that song as he was dying of AIDS. He had an amazing voice, an amazing career, and was a consummate musician, song writer, vocalist, and stage entertainer. To compare him and Adam is idiotic. They each have their own uniqueness, and even in the last stages of disease, Freddie gave it his all.

@anon 7:18 PM Thank you for your comment about Freddie.

Adam and Freddie are both incredibly talented vocalists and performers. Although they are both unique, the comparisions are understandable due to the similarities in their operatic rock voices and their incredible showmanship. Adam has a tougher way to go due to being out and proud on stage and in his music. I thought Queen as a band was great and only Adam could do a tribute to Freddie justice. I was STUNNED by Queen with Adam at the AI finale.

Anonymous said...

@anon 4:23 AM Agree with you. In one of English newspapers they said that Adam is Freddie's "stepson":) I think this is true.
But we still don't have to compare them.

Hi guys - hope you see/have this on your screen, too:

In honour and memory of Freddie Mercury's birthday (today) Google has done something nice...CLICK on Google logo and there is this nice animation of him, Queen and their music!

Freddie was regal. No doubt. And I have always loved Queen's music.
Totally get Adam's adoration for him...
To me Freddie was Queen's frontman with huge voice and flamboyant performances; I dug the band and their music, I did not "follow" Freddie (ok, back then there was no internet, social media etc, LOL).
Freddie did nothing to my heart, body, mind & soul...However, this other DUDE...AFL, The Prince of Everything Beautiful... ok, I won't start now, you all know what I mean!!!

TODAY is for Freddie - His voice and music will LIVE FOREVER!!!

GGD Gal, love & acceptance rules!
