Sorry, but I cannot stand nicki minaj!- I am in total shock that she is more reconized than adam! Her songs literally give me a migraine!

Actually that was the first time I watched a Nicki Minaj performance and I thought it was very interesting, absorbing though didn't hear much singing. Like what the title of the performance suggests...Exorcism. We can't really understand that in an explicit way, so I viewed it from a sort of abstract, surreal kind of angle. I thought she portrayed it with uniqueness and ferocity. Yea, liked the performance a lot. :)

I feel if you are into rap music(which I am not) then you will love her, I have never felt rap music was any kind of singing what-so-ever. It's a different kind-of talent (I guess) and the kids today love it, that is why they all shoot to number #1. So sad for the music industry and I'm not old, I just want to hear people sing. That's all.

I think rapping has a life of its own, a very distinct kind of genre and yea there is much talent and rhythm as well. The only problem is I can't catch the lyrics, too fast but I kind of enjoy the rhythm and the quick movements and tone of rap; not sure, to call it music or not, maybe a kind of recitation or modern poetry. Just my thought. :)

Seriously. NOBODY could understand that story. Adam was being diplomatic, and kind of wiggling his way out of an uncomfortable interview question, looks like.

Thought his response was diplomatic and honest. Adam of all people knows what it means to try something (AMAS) and not have it work out as how you wanted it to. To criticize her would have been hypocritical - IMO. ... Adamluv

Sooo diplomatic, Adam. I also dont understand this type of "music" personally I dislike most of it intensely. But obviously it has a big place in music today.
It is hard slog for our Adam, isnt it.
I must say he looked abolutely breathtakingly gorgeous in that clip. Have been dying to see that, couldnt get it on any VH1 site, thank you admin.

9:21 PM, I have a few friends who are into rap, myself included, and we all agree that Nicki's performance was a mess. Not a great representation of the genre but then again Nicki's got one foot in Hip-Hop, another in Pop, a hand in Dance, the other in some place that causes her to fancy herself an occasional singer and some mystery appendage in bad masterpiece theater with all the different voices and accents she uses... and that's coming from someone who actually likes a handful of her songs.
Though, I've read that wasn't even the song Nicki had in mind to perform but the Grammy producers/officials or whoever chose the song after she played it for them and they were all excited about it.
But LESS about Nicki and MORE about Adam. hopefully this year will be the breakout he needs, he racks up a hit or two, and get's to perform at next years Grammys to show'em how it's done!

Adam was just on 20/20 for a few seconds! They were talking about how the Grammy party was going on while Whitney was recently pronounced dead just a couple of floors above. Adam was having his picture taken by the media while at the Clive Davis party. They mentioned that it was a star studded party.

I'm not into rap so I didn't like that performance at all. Adam answered the question very diplomatically, the consumate performer and speaker that he is. He looks YUMMY in this clip.

Well done Adam, you thought the same as me! nuff said.

Always amazing Mr Lambert get's ripped - whilst NM can turn out stuff like this. All for freedom of expression - which should apply to every performer.

What he really wanted to say was:I didn't get a f....n thing!! What the hell did she wanted to mean??but as always he's so proper and diplomatic. Good Adam:DD

For me, it was better than watching another Gaga performance.

Adam has such tact and yes, he can relate after the ama performance.

Just because a singer does a big elaborate production number full of costumes and schtick, doesn't mean there is any substance to it. Sometimes it's just for over-the-top shock effect. Sometimes this type of thing can be cool and entertaining, and sometimes it can be just crap for crap's sake. I think this one is crap for crap's sake. If you like it, fine. Enjoy. To me, NM has the talent of a flea (and I DON'T hate all rap.) To think that she is so popular and accepted and successful with this BS and Adam struggles along with the voice and talent and charisma from heaven is beyond me. IMO, Adam thought it was crap, too, but of course, couldn't say so. JMO

I absolutely agree with the previous statement. Adam works hard to promote his music esp. now with BTIKM and the impending release of his second album, and yet he seems to have to fight for every bit of recognition and acknowledgement he gets. Today's muscial performances seem to be more about "style" than substance with pyrotechnics, gryrating dancers, and shocking presentations with little meaning. Adele seems to be one of the few performers who can actually sing without any of that nonsense in the background. Adam Lambert is the other. I would take any acoustic version of an Adam song to most of the "garbage" that passes as music today. And here is Adam...articulate, personable, polite and so charming just trying to get people to listen to his music because it actually means something and tells a story, but willgive you dance beats and a fun time also(TRESPASSING). He was being polite about the NM performance and he is always calling out other singers music or videos as something he likes. Let's hope they will do the same for him once the album is released. Sorry for caring on about this, but it really ticks me off becasue AL is the best vocal talent in the music business today and deserves to be recognized as such. I guess once we look at the demographic of the music buying/listening public, we might understand the reasons such no-talent individuals gain success. I obviously do not fit into that age group.

where in the world is Adam Lambert?

Anonymous said...

Again, you people make me spend time (a lot!) on fiddling things...like finding out who this NM person is and what our boy was talking about. So I watched that performance several times (I barely understood the words).
What can I say? It makes perfect sense to me. Don’t we love the show... busyness?!
Multiplying the meanings of 'gaga'...
New entry: Gagaism – a(n entertainment) movement of the 21st century that flouted (pretty much) everything but (money-making) instincts.

I love that he looked for "the narrative" in that...happening! That's my (confused) storyteller!! :-)

These are the days of Vision, visuals and retinal stimulation... of the human brains. Hearing seems somehow obsolete. The new rules: “watch, but don’t listen”, “touch, but don’t feel” (that is, in your heart), “feel, but don’t cry”, “move, but leave the content of your pockets”...with us.
"Go for it"! The world of the entertained limbs!

GLb

PS: That was my Saturday evening sermon. Now I'm ready to answer to... my dog's 'instincts'. :-))

Please vote for Adam on VH1 top 20.
He didn't make it on the 20 this week. Let's get him there next week. These are the things we need to vote on, not stupidd idol of the month. Come on Glamberts we can do it!!!

My 2 cents: I was surprised that it was such a mess..and in my opinion, it WAS a mess. While I'm not a major fan of Nikki Minaj, I find her entertaining, and her music catchy, as a general rule, and she's been growing on me... "Super Bass" is fun. I really just thought "Exorcism of Roman" didn't work. At all. As everyone has said, Adam was very diplomatic. As usual.

Daydreamin: thanks for the info about K101.3. I know 97.3 Alice, has been playing BTIKM fairly often as well. Keep requesting!!

Ever the diplomat. He knows it sucked. Can you see someone, anyone, getting on stage and mocking Islam, or any other faith for that matter? Why is it at all acceptable for her, or anyone to put on the spectacle she did? I'm all for expression, but you gotta wonder what she trying to express. Girl's got some demons.

Heard this on the news today:

Whitney Huston lipsynched The Star Spangled Banner at the 25th Super Bowl Game!!!

I agree with EVERY word that Anonymous at 7;05 said!!! I am so sick of seeing "no talent" singers getting air play and videos played everywhere!!! What going on with VH1? I voted and voted and voted--are they just going to play Adam's video when they want to? Does the voting have anything to do with it? Is "payola" alive and well again? Who runs this music business anyway? When a talent such as Adam Lambert cannot get played on the radio, there is something "fishy" going on! Why are there so many haters? I love this man and his music. When there is an artist as talented as Adam and he is not being recognized---there is something VERY wrong!!!

@Jak, Saw and left lengthy comment back on Sirius thread...I also thought the Nicki Minaj performance was a ridiculous mess and thought it was disrespectful and tacky to use religion in such a degrading way. I get self expression, but this was self indulgent, attention grabbing with no point or redeeming anything. Loved Bruno Mars performance and especially Adele.

daydreamin said...

@Caroline, it's nice to know that there is another bayarean on this site! Yes, I request on@Alice 97.3 regularly too. They were, after all, the very first station in the country to play BTIKM!
