Instagram Activity Soared From Virtually Zero in 2012 to Nearly a Quarter of All Social Media Activity in 2013

NEW YORK October 9, 2013 Clear Channel Media and Entertainment today shared details of the social media engagement surrounding its 2013 iHeartRadio Music Festival, which took place in Las Vegas on September 20 and 21. This year's festival drove record-breaking buzz across all social media platforms, with more than 700K active social media users generating a total of 1.4M pieces of content and 2.3B total impressions, double the amount vs. prior year.

Facebook, Instagram and Twitter were the leading channels for conversation around the 2013 festival. Photo-sharing experienced a breakthrough at this year's festival, with Instagram posts accounting for 23% of all social media activity, as compared to less than 1% in 2012. Other statistics of note include:
· 97,202 social media posts and 1,297,909 interactions were generated about the festival, resulting in 1,440,304 total pieces of buzz
€ Miley Cyrus topped the artists discussed during the festival, followed by Katy Perry, Queen and Chris Brown
€ Social media interactions were skewed female (66% of content came from women) and young ( 48% of the social media contributors were 18-24 year olds); 83% of all people who participated were under 34 years old
€ iHeartRadio's brand partners benefitted from 38M social impressions over the festival weekend
€ The festival generated 38 trending topics on Twitter over the course of the weekend, with iHeartRadio trending worldwide both nights

This year's two-day iHeartRadio Music Festival brought to life the music of the iHeartRadio app and offered fans an opportunity to enjoy a weekend of incredible live music and surprise performances by their favorite artists. The iHeartRadio app, which reached its first 20 million registered users faster than any digital service in Internet history, delivers everything listeners want in an all-in-one platform: Instant access to more than 1,500 radio stations from across the country, user-created Custom Stations inspired by a favorite artist or song, thousands of curated digital stations "Perfect For" any mood or activity, and the new iHeartRadio Talk feature giving users access to the best on-demand news, talk and entertainment content available today.

Be careful this Ian H Watkins is an actor singer etc. There is another Ian Watkins who was in a metal rockband and arrested last year for horrific assaults on a child. Band now broken up. Easy to confuse the two

Nice fan poster of Adam in Glee:

Well, Ian H. Watkins certainly has an impressive resume, and he recognize incredible talent when he sees. Glad he's a new Glambert. The press releasse on the IHR show is very good news. Shows that LOTS of people saw Adam and Queen. The link has some good comments about Adam. I'm so glad that IHR got such a huge audience. Hopefully, Adam will remain in the memories of lots of viewers. Good news all around.

Have been a "severly bitten" fan for going on 5 years now but...have to admit, I go through periods where I get ridiculously otherwise occupied. I don't check on Adam, paw through my thousands of pictures, drool over my poster of the Rolling Stone cover, play every song(the first 100 on my iTunes are all Adam) and I think..."well, maybe I have recovered from this lovely, though consuming, addiction and my friends/family can stop looking for a psych ward for recovering Glamberts!!! Then some adorable picture or piped in Trespassing song filters over my head in the grocery store or I come across the fantasy stories I wrote about him, hidden in a drawer....and it starts all over again. Each time, I feel like a new fan, just fallen jawdropping in love. Other insignificant things in my life drift away and I am spending hours with a stupid grin on my face, his beautiful eyes in my soul and power segments from his performances in my brain. I cannot predict how long these times will last, that I go around in a cloud and wonder what people are saying in intense conversations and how I could have thought that little problems were such a big deal but....always, always, ALWAYS...as the intensity lessens, I am profoundly grateful that Adam exists and that he continues to share the undefinable, artistic nature of his whole being with a world who does not make it easy for him. He is truly other-wordly, a gift from the Universe and I can only hope that he has moments when he feels just a small part of what he means to Glambernation!! Safe and Intact!!!

3:37. You are not alone. There must be so many fans out there that know exactly what you are feeling. I don't think there will ever be a singer that will make me feel this way again. Adam is a true blessing.

I am afraid that I am addicted to Adam M. Lambert, have been since Idol; and I like it, no complaints here. He has brought so much joy to my life!

Thanks for the clarification of Ian "H" Watkins. I looked up the other one and was shocked!!!! Got to remember the one with the "H" is the good one.

The American Idol star has enjoyed an amazing year so far, which has included winning an Honorary GLAAD Media Award, becoming the first American Idol to stage a solo concert in Mainland China, topping Yahoo! Voices’s list of top ten pop singers (the judges stated “Lambert’s vocal ability has no limits and when he takes off, it’s as if a rocket has been launched. Lambert is clearly the best popular music singer the world has ever heard since Freddie Mercury”), winning a Unity Award from the We Are Family Foundation, getting a key to the city after a Gay Pride performance in Miami, landing a guest role on Glee and of course, his triumphant return to the stage with legendary rockers Queen at the recent iHeart music festival.

Glad some one bought that over. I read it but don't know how to bring it here. So thank you.
Is there an easy explanation on how to bring a link here?

Anonymous said...

When you find something to share
Click or run your mouse across the link/url to highlight it. (Sometimes if you just right click on it, it will highlight)

With your pointer on the highligted area, right click.

A menu will appear, left click on 'copy'.

The link is now in your computer memory.

Go as usual to where you want to take it. (Like in the comment box here) Right click and a menu will appear. Left click on the option 'paste'.

It should appear and your free to add to you comment in the usual manner.

If you want to quote something you have to hold down your mouse's left click and run it over what you want to highlight.

Play with it until you get comfortable highlighting.

Hope Ian Watkins is sincere and not just trying to get hits/attention from a million glamberts - it's so easy to do and seems so innocent. Even if he is sincere in his adoration (hard not to be, I know) I still wonder. This fame thing is addictive.

@3:37 I love what you said. Everything!

@colorforadam I should have said instead of anon3:37. Sorry about that!

7:06 thanks I was reading your comment and I have trouble finding links on articles, where do you find the link?

Anonymous said...

@colorforadam, yes, you are not alone. You would not believe it but Adam is included always in my prayers like family.
Without fail, praying daily for his success in all his endeavor because I think it is the best way I can help him in his career aside from everything else.
And I never forget to thank God for Adam.

@9:37 PM
The link you want is at the top of your computer screen. It's the in bar that is beside the arrow (On your left) that you click if you want to click back to a previous screen.

The link that shows for me on this page looks like this
http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=2198401713109790907&postID=7427663082121713868

For me it is the 3rd line down, from the very top, but I don't have many bars up there, some people have lots for various reasons.

@ 5:48. Are you for hire? I don't know how to "download".
Working for me would be a full time job. Computer dummy here. : ))

For anyone who has a MAC computer, easy to copy a link:

Go to the top of the window, where it shows the address of the page you wish to copy the for.

Move cursor to the end of the address, click and highlight (blue) address.

Go to "Edit" on top left of window. Move cursor to Edit, click, (opens box with options). Click on Copy.

Go to the page you wish to copy it to (for instance, the comment box here on 24/7). Go to Edit again, click and open, Click on Paste. Voila!!! Link pasted :))

***Here the link doesn't highlight when posted in a comment (unfortunately) but most other places (ie. emails, many other blogs etc.) the link will highlight and people can simply click on the link to go directly to the page...
