Those pre-tax income figures were just published on Forbes.com and include the top 10 American Idol incomes. Adam was tied for 3rd highest at $5 million. It's just what happens when you are in the public eye. There was a thread here a day or so ago about that information. Right or wrong, it's all out there. And good news for Adam certainly. He's doing we'll :))

He won't do well next year. The timing was good for him because it included both queen and wag. He really hasn't done much at all since then.

One of his managers said the trajectory of his career is up and building. His growing star power and influence belies your negative prediction; the money made is not always a reflection of an artist's true worth, e.g. Justin Bieber.

I'm not worried about the next Forbes list. Adam had some great gigs these past couple of months and he has a couple of Glee episodes left and then whatever else we don't know about yet in the next six months. I'm looking forward to seeing what else he has in store for us.

I have never once said anything about Adams income. Not once. I am not surprised by these numbers due to the way the year was cut to include his queen and international concerts. I have always assumed he made good money on those.

I think this is great publicity for Adam...top 3 just behind CU & KC and mentioned on the Today Show? It's all good.

I was surprised to see Taylor Hicks in that list at no. 5. I know he won a Grammys Award last year and he is current resident performer in LV. He also has his own restaurant. That shows that selling millions of albums and singles and being played on radio every fifteen minutes isn't the only way to be a successful artist. There are tons of other ways to be a relevant successful artist.

@1:01, here here re your post. I saw Taylor Hicks on a food related show talking about his restaurant and GOOD FOR HIM. And regarding his actual singing (aside from his apparent business prowess), he is uber talented and intriguing and downright fun to listen to still!

To be looking at many avenues for a career path is an intelligent thing to do, ie Hicks. Not only is Bieber having trouble, heavy weights like Gaga and Britney Spears haven't had huge huge sales with their latest albums Artpop and Britney Jean. Of course they have anough dough in the bank and perfume deals etc etc to last them a lifetime if they spend wisely... I am js that relying on chart success is a bad move in the entertainment industry in this day and age, and good for Adam for keeping options open and working the industry and its players best he can and I have every confidence he'll be able to "pay the bills" by doing what he enjoys.

Well regardless of what Taylor made, in no way is he seen as a relevant artist. His Grammy was for some contribution to jimmy fallons comedy album. No reflection on his music. He has been doing a 100 seat lounge act in Las Vegas. Maybe his restaurant does well or maybe he did some fancy footwork with his numbers. I don't know.

I'd follow KA if he was exciting to me, but he's not. Nice guy, nice voice. Doing well, too. But Adam is on a whole difference level of excitement to me. Makes my heart leap while others do not.

It's correct ot say that selling millions of albums and filling arenas each year is not the only way to make a good living in show business. I have a good vibe about this coming year. Just because he's on a ski trip doesn't mean he's not going to record new music this year. Quite the opposite. He says he will, and I believe him. I see him doing other things also. We'll see. I hope he gives us some new news near his birthday. He's a versatile performer.

I don't mean to be a d-bag to you for posting your opinion on an open forum, I'm just sayin my own POV. It's a rough road for these AI alums. Katherine McPhee must have been on Cloud frickin 9 after the first season of "SMASH" and look what happened. (Glad to see Megan Hilty and some others from the Smash cast already back at work. And speaking of Megan Hilty, her cd didn't make charting records in the Pop or HAC genre's... a good, talented artist moves on and is happy to being getting a check doing what they love and not waitressing or what have you {not that waitressing is a bad day's pay, because it certainly isn't!} ).

1:18, I like your post. Adam has been a good networker. He manages to meet a lot of people in the business. As talented as he is as a singer, that may not ultimately be his biggest income ticket. He may try to diversify to ensure an income over the long haul. I also read about Gaga being upset about the poor sales of her last album. She's been blaming a lot of her "people" for the lack of high sales. So even she is seeing a change in her momentum. Britney's had the same problem. Slow and steady with good planning is the key. And poor Biebs. He's a train wreck right now.

Adam has a good chance to record music and sell it successfully. He probably won't fill areas single-handedly, but his talent is true.

Are you going to all of Adam's fan sites trying to recruit fans for Kris Allen? You know what is really sad; you are. I don't think Kris Allen would appreciate you running around different fan sites tearing down his fellow idol contestants; and especially his friend Adam, to try and rack up fans for him.

I am pretty sure that when Kris's next cd comes out; Adam will probably play it and tweet it to his over two million twitter followers; and that will be of great help to Kris Allen.

Adam is a very generous human being; and a very successful entertainer who always reaches out to help fellow entertainers get exposure from his fans when he hears a cd which impresses him, and something he thinks his fans may enjoy.

My understanding is that Adam's trip to Aspen will be more than just a ski trip, although that sounds fun too. One of the events happening during that time is an Equality event. Thinking hell be involved in that somehow as we'll. I'm sure well be hearing more about it later.

What surprising to me is that the Power's That Be; are actually keeping their eyes on Adam. How many Idol Alum have be invited to host a major show like Diva's; that was no small task. He went on many TV shows in New York and elsewhere advertising it. I was very impressed by his interviews; people were very impressed by him when he spoke. Those interviews can be seen on youtube, take a look if you have not seen them; including the Wendy William's show; very impressive. All of this was great exposure for Adam!

5 million is not Adam's salary. It is what he has earned for the fiscal year. If it was his salary for each gig, concert, etc., his wages for the year would be 100 or more million.

@1:13pm I really enjoyed watching live stream of one of his concerts, couple of years ago. He is very talented.

I usually like to find out what's happening with other top Idols when we don't hear much about them on mainstream radios and TVs or after mainstream mean machine big corporation AI doesn't care about them any longer once AI takes half of their earnings in earlier years of Idol winners careers. That's crazy and unfair!

Maybe negative people on this website should channel their negatives towards AI for exploitation instead and not complain about why Adam isn't making music to sell millions of album....js.

Adam is doing just great. No complain from me and I'll support this one in a billion artist forever. There are tons of other unfairness in this world that people should worry about.

The point is just that with the same amount of time that adam had kris worked hard, wrote new music which he has played on recent gigs, and has put together an album without a label. I actually had the show on when they discussed this story, but I already knew about it from reading the blog entry yesterday. I bet a lot of people were surprised to see him on this list because if you are not a fan and following his career esp. on this blogsite, you would not really know anything about his recent projects, appearances and concert events. One or two of my friends have mentioned his name to me and want to know what is happening with him and his recording career. I guess you are only as successful as your last single or album and people hear your music. Come on Adam. Hopefully you have a record label and are working on the third album for release this year.

Sometimes I wish we didn't know so damn much about what a celebrity is doing. Sometimes, ignorance is bliss.

Mainly because, I donot think you are a fan; I think you are just here to pit them against each other and you don't particulary like either one; but, I think you really can't stand Adam Lambert.

All I will say; is that Adam Lambert is an international Super Star; with over 2 million worldwide twitter followers. As Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen so often says, "a one in a million voice". They will hopefully be doing more gigs with Adam this year. That is what they have been hoping for.

Don't you worry; I think that Kris Allen and Adam Lambert will both fulfill their dreams; I certainly hope so. The main thing is being able to make a living while doing the things they love. Wish them both the best.

I could say it takes a dumbass to know another; but that would sound rather juvnile; so I just won't go there. I will just say you seem to be hung up on Adam to the extreme; talking about his potential sex life and such. I am pretty sure that adam does not need to go on a ski trip just to get drunk and laid as you so delicately put it.

You really seem a little overly invested. Perhaps you should spent more time invested in your own personal life; and you won't be so upset from your obsession over Adam. I am pretty sure that Adam will be taking care of charity and other business and has been said in previous post. Hopefully he will find time for recreaction too. Adam may be financially invested in some of the things. But, the good part is Adam keeps his personal finances to himself. That is a good thing. Don't want to know. If that is the case; he is very wise about not telling what he is an investor in.

I'm sure Kris Allen is lovely and enjoying his life, he's certainly doing better than he did before he went on Idol....But I hardly think you can compare him to Adam....yes, he's working on his 3rd album, but do you know how many he sold of his 2nd??? it sold 15,000 in its opening week, don't think its much above 30,000 even now. And yes, he's playing regular kids, mostly around his home state for a few hundred people.

As for Taylor Hicks, apparently only half his income comes from music, he has interests in several other things including a restaurant.
