On Queen site, there were couple of comments from Queen fans who attended iHeart radio concert in Las Vegas last year and they said that Adam felt like a walking concrete on stage. They liked Nate from Fun band more when he performed STL.
Honestly I always thought Nate had a good voice, and he does for his music, but STL was embarrassing. The only people I have ever heard sing that song and not murder it, of course except for Freddie, was Adam and George Michael. My only comment is I hope Adam doesn't wear those high-heeded boots as it hindered his movement.
Voice wise Nate's performance of STL was inferior to Adam but he sure mastered at bringing the audience on stage in unison with that performance. I watched tons of Freddie's videos and he was an ultimate God of engaging with the audience in huge stadiums from all the way from way back to the front.
I will always give Nate credit for saying something to the effect that Adam's voice was the best he ever heard the night he performed with Adam and Queen! Not too many big stars would humble themselves in that way. And, of course, Nate was correct, there is no voice like that of Adam Lambert!!!!!....nancdruuu2
Sounds like those two self acclaimed Freddie fans that you said you read about on the Queen site; who said that Adam seemed like a block of concrete on stage; were displaying a bit of jealous sour grapes in my opinion; with such an extreme negative comment.
From the videos I viewed from I.heart; Adam connected just fine with the audience, so much enthusiasm was given to him and his performances; people were singing along, dancing and enjoying themselves.
Thank goodness Adam did not get up there trying to imitate Freddie. Also, Adam received quite a few comments from Freddie's fans; I am one of them. So no need to focus on the negative comments. The overwhelming thunderous applause at the end of Queen/Adam performance said it all! Many media outlets said it was the best performances of the night. Hence, one of the reasons of the upcoming Queen/Adam concerts this summer!!!!
In my opinion; no one alive today, that I have heard, can do justice to the song "Send Me Somebody To Love" like Adam Lambert; he knocks it out of the stadium!!!!
A few hours ago I watched and listened to the IHeart video - and please don't jump on me for saying this... Straight after Adam's voice to watch & listen to Nate's performance...was very difficult... Queen songs are no piece of cake, and you could see he does not have the lugns nor the pipes to do this or any other Queen song justice. I'm not out to bash him, please believe me, but you could see he was struggling... Still wishing Adam would have sung that song, too.
I feel just the opposite. A segue was needed between the very dramatic WWTLF and Adams exit .... Brian's greeting and intro of Fun was just right. Nate came out and engaged the audience in a fun song which became a sing along and led into the amusing song duet Fat Bottom Girl. The director knew what he was doing. IMO

And I was there, too!!!!!
and there was that poster that said that he doesn't connect with his audience...
They loved him in England. Not enough people got to see him on the stage with Queen.
Doesn't connect with his audience. That is a lye, Adam often talked to the people and makes them laugh. He is a real people person.
