Awww, congratulations to Tyler Glenn of the Neon Trees for coming out! Extra sweet of Adam to bring attention to Tyler's OUT.com interview.

(Tyler's a cutie pie - wow.)

Adam is waaaay more gracious than I am.

Thats one of the great things about Adam. Its good to be gracious. Neon Trees gave a free concert in the park performance a couple of years ago near me. I have been a fan of Tyler Glen and Neon Trees. They put on a great show.

“The fear surrounding coming out went away,” Glenn, who grew up Mormon, explains. “It was just as simple as saying this is what I want and I want to be happy.”

In a matter of six months, he went from telling his producer and songwriting partner Tim Pagnotta that he’s the gay man mentioned in several new songs on the band’s upcoming album, Pop Psychology, to coming out to the world via a Rolling Stone interview. And the overall reception has been positive. Glenn says that Neon Trees hasn’t lost a single fan and even received vocal support from active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

While he doesn’t feel pressured to take a stance on certain gay rights, it’s something he wants to eventually do. “I do want to choose, at the appropriate times, to be a public supporter of LGBT issues,” he says knowing that there’s still ground to be covered when it comes to changing the perception of the Mormon Church. “I feel like I do have a fresh perspective.”

But the first issue he wants to address is Adam Lambert, whom he failed to mention in the Rolling Stone interview when he complained the industry didn’t have an out musician to balance out the success of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

“I didn't want him to think I was leaving him out. I'll use Out.com to say that I enjoy him,” Glenn says.

All I can say is I love Adam more and more each day......nancdruuu2

Adam isn't a relevant artist, that's just a fact. Tyler was trying to be polite to him.

Anonymous said...

12:35 and your comments aren't relevant, that's just a fact. We politely ignore you. For real!

Anonymous said...

Adam is multi-faceted artist. Remember his interview on AI Top 36, he said he can sing anything and everything. That's why I love him.

Tyler said there were not any out artists but in fact there are many. Semiprecious weapons, sam sparro, gossip, scissor sisters, mary lambert, and adam to name just a few. Not to mention legends like Elton John, Ricky martin, melissa etheridge, kd lang. What he meant was there are not any hot artists getting radio play and awards ie relevant to the current music scene.

Some fans were offended by his comments but in fact it was polite of him to mention adam at all since he hasn't been relevant for five years.

You should educate yourself and stop being nasty to fellow posters. For real

How Omniscient you and Tyler are. Neither of you are likeable, tho.

My comment at 1:36 PM was directed at 1:22 PM

12:35PM & 1:22PM

Adam Lambert is very relevant, ask the Glee producers, crew and cast; and his over 2 million twitter followers; ask Roger & Brian; Nile Rodgers; ask P. Willilams & so many other celebrities who are always singing his praises. Too many to list here.

Adam Laambert is a worldwide super star with millions of fans. Adam Lambert makes a comment and it goes through the media like wild fire. Remember his comment about
La Mis., the movie?

Your negative comments do not hold water. He is so relevant that you follow him and his fans around the internet, trying to convince people that he is not relevant.

Not only is he relevant; he is one of the most gorgeouos, talented men in the world. Sorry to burst your bubble of denial; but facts or facts. No matter what you say; the facts have a funny way of slapping you right in the face!!!

2:27 PM/ Correction here:

I accidently typed (a) twice in Lambert/2nd paragraph first line. Sorry about that.

Tyler Glenn's lovely response to Adam just now:

@tylerinacoma: .@adamlambert ur welcome, You've helped "pave the way" so to speak, for modern gay entertainers. I was remiss to not mention in RS! X

Anonymous said...

1:22pm now you see how nasty your comments are!? I reflected your nasty comment at 12:35 back at you. Try to educate yourself not to say nasty comments to Adam when you are at this website which uses Adam's name created for Adam's fans.

Also Glenn could have mentioned the other openly gay artists you named, but he gave a shout out to Adam instead.

Anonymous said...

2:41pm here...cause Adam "paved the way for openly gay artists" as tweeted by Glenn himself in his recent tweet that Glitzylady posted above.

Anonymous said...

Adam exudes love from every fiber of his being. ♥

Adam Lambert is indeed relevant to so many people, including Tyler Glenn, for SO many reasons. "Irrelevant" ?? Hardly......

Awww Tyler followed Adam. That's nice! He wasn't following him :)

However anyone feels about, musically or personally he is now in the history books relating to music and the LGBT community. He has made his own unique mark that will always be in the literature and lore of music history. He took a huge risk to come out so early in his career. The impact of that move is always with him. We haven't yet reached that "post-gay" society that he has spoken about. But he is playing a part in making it happen. Kudos to Tyler for making his move. He is already pretty successful, so maybe he won't be as hurt in sales as another might be. He seems to be very relieved about what he did and is ready to move on with his life.

Just have to add, Adam, you are a gift.

@April 8, 2014 at 1:22 PM

We've moved on to good news, GREAT news... but please allow me to pop back in quickly and say that I feel that I do understand what you were getting at, I really do. Your position does have merit too imho. But, to me, the uber relevance of Adam's role in this matter is how risky it was for him to be so open right from the get-go (something which Glenn, btw, did not do. And another btw I'll add, as far as relevancy, it that it's not like Neon Trees is the most relevant band to grace the U.S. charts in the last 10 years ;)). Anyway, I do believe I understood your position, but, in addition to some of the other credits from the last 5 years of Adam's listed here by other posters), Adam did have a Top 10 hit with WWFM and a Grammy nom, and half decent radio play for a bit with IIHY, and that in and of itself makes him relevant enough to have been acknowledged WHEN PARIED with the most important reason he should always be acknowledged in this discussion, and that's his being out right up front (which I do not believe even Michael Stipe can claim, right?). I know the Glamberts were the primary reason why Trespassing got that #1 BB debut, along with a weaker field of releases that week, I know, I get that, but it still is a relevant fact to be added to this particular discussion! I got what you were saying 1:22, right from the start, I just don't think your argument holds water. Peace.

Anonymous said...

Regarding Glenn's recent tweet, I guess I should be a good sport, but if Glenn is going to say "MODERN gay artists", well then - Adam did not "HELP" pave the way, Adam DID pave the way.

Listen, I am not one of those fans that thinks Adam walks on water, I really am not, but as far as being OUT and Proud right at the inception of his career, that was a big step in terms of this issue imho!

Your post is totally ridiculous! Adam is not relevant to the current music scene, has not been relevant for five years!??? hah hah ha!
And you are nothing but always belittling Adam on a fan site bearing his name. Would not have bothered to comment your post, but when I saw post @5:23, had to say this: Get off from this site, go spread your 'relevant music scene crap' and constant anti-Adam fan comments somewhere else! Fuckin n_mn_t!

@6:45/6:49
Oh, gee, thanks for the correction... because "numbnut" needs to be corrected, and, more importantly, blanked out to begin with, for... what? For the sensitive and squeamish, after you've dropped the F-bomb preceding it! Whaaa??

On a more serious note, maybe if you approached someone else's position and POV with just a little bit of willingness to absorb and digest it, you might be served well. I am not saying I am on board with 1:22's opinions, I'm not really, but they are not crazy or outlandish, and honestly, don't strike me as troll-like. If 1:22 is 12:35, then that poster took a rather abrupt original post at 12:35 and elaborated on his/her position in the 1:22 post a bit more, and I'm not so sure they did so to no avail in my view. I am not that person, but your posts at 6:45 & 6:49 would be more frowned upon by Adam himself than 1:22's I bet, just my perspective, I hope I've stated it respectfully.
