Thank you, Scorpiobert! I didn't get the book so this is good to know about.

Clark Gable was declared the King of Hollywood and Elvis the King of Music.....both were correct....they each had a kind of magic!....JAK

Two of my favorites-Elvis and Adam, different eras, different types of music, but both very special in their own ways.

JAK correcting myself....Elvis was the King of Rock! I knew better, but my left hand didn't.....!

It's really awkward to train a 78 yr old hand! :-(

Elvis the King of Rock n Roll.

Lambert is a modern day Elvis. He brings the grit and the glamour. Lambert has a better voice in my opinion. No one can rock sideburns like Elvis though. TCOB

I purchased the Shades of Elvis book tho pricey but with both of in it ( that would be Adam and Elvis) I couldn't resist! I love the book...so many interesting photos in it.

Adam sure has a supportive, loving family. No wonder he turned out so great a person. Also, that's how he can be so generous in his praise of others.

JAK here....Elvis was a phenomenon , his first RCA single came out in January 1956, Heartbreak Hotel. He then appeared on the Dorsey Bros. Stage Show, on Milton Berle, Steve Allen, Jackie Gleason, and Ed Sullivan. Some of these main steam tv shows as many as 6 times each......by November he made his first movie Love Me Tender. All during the year he turned 21. He was a heat seeking missile that scandalized half the country and poured molasses and stardust on the rest. We stuck like glue.

I waited in long lines every time he put out a new single. My mom said "he's a shooting star" I think she was right, some time later he made a movie called Flaming Star.

If you are an avid fan you may know that the song Black Velvet was written about him many years later. The Canadian artist who recorded it won a Grammy and it was #1 on Billboard. if you like really bluesy rock check out Alannah Myles.....Black Velvet. It's a keeper..... whew, worn out...bed for me, it's past 'the witching hour'...

JAK - I loved the song Black Velvet, but I don't think I realized at the time it was about Elvis. A long time ago tho, so my memory may not be as good as it once was. sigh ...

Thanks, JAK, for the Elvis tidbits, appreciate it.

Though I love Adam's tenor voice, I'm in love with Elvis' baritone which has no comparison to any other.
elvis can go so low and to highest notes, all in head or chest voice, no falsetto and so powerful.
Adam has the same power and both he and Elvis don't sing much in any falsetto.

Not a fan of Elvis ever but I'm a huge fan of Adam. :)

Black Velvet is SO SEXY . It's too bad Elvis never heard it. It's a great tribute, every line of lyric describes him perfectly. And that beat!

Maybe someday a songwriter can capture Adam as well in a song.

Not this Elvis comparison AGAIN!!

5:27 Did you notice the thread was about Adam discussing Elvis? Maybe that's why we are discussing Elvis. Ya think?
