In 2008, Adam Lambert was in the "ensemble" and an understudy for the role of "Fiyero" in the Los Angeles Pantages Theater's cast of the musical "WICKED"...

He took the chance of auditioning for American Idol in the summer of 2008, gave up his steady job in Wicked, made it to the Finale of Season 8 in May 2009 ... And the rest is history!!!

Grammy nominated for "Whataya Want From Me" from his first album "For Your Entertainment", #1 Billboard Chart for his second album "Trespassing", World Tour with Glam Nation Tour 2010, multiple gigs with QUEEN, acting gig on multiple episodes of GLEE on TV, MANY honors & awards over the past 5 plus years, ...the list goes on...

Currently Frontman for the Legendary Rock Group Queen on Tour in 2014 & 2015, and soon to release his 3rd major solo album!!!

SOOO much to be thankful for: for Adam himself and for us, his fans!!!

And our thanks to @LambertizeMe on twitter for sharing this tweet below with us! We SOOO agree!

Why would it not be ??? What does it matter where the picture is placed. Adam such a beautiful talent and has really came a very long way since then.

Such a completely different image now; so polished and classy looking in the recent pic. Although he could be in a potato sack and look gorgeous!!

Thankful Adam had the courage to leave a good gig? How self centered are some fans?

Maybe it's the way that person worded the tweet that is bothering me.

I understand being thankful and grateful we get to enjoy Adam's amazing talent. But it is Adam's life and career. There would have been nothing wrong with him staying in a career of musical theater. Adam's choices in life are not mine to judge and feel whether I benefited or not.

I'm thankful I get to see and hear the amazing talent of Adam.

I suspect the author of the tweet was simply grateful that he took the next step, and for the opportunity to do so... As am I..

Self centered??? I didn't feel that was the intent at all.

Thankful for the way things turned out for Adam, yes. And thankful for the opportunity to be his fan....

Yeah it is worded a little awkwardly. LOL I guess she could have tweeted she is glad Adam dropped out of college or that his parents put him in local theatre.

I think we are all thankful we have the opportunity to be the fan of such an amazing talent and person. Simply said is sometimes the best.

I believe from what Adam said, he was at Burning man, trying out some weird drugs, when he had the epiphany to try out for AI. He has told the story a few times. I don't think he had the self confidence at that time to think he was good enough, but I am sure glad he did do it.

At the time his dad was mad at him for giving up a job that had steady pay, for some TV contest show. Obviously Eber had never heard of AI. But he was sure there for most of the shows to encourage Adam, along with Adam's whole family.

5:56 pm, actually Adam said Rolling Stone took some liberties with that story and that isn't really how it happened.

I have heard the story when Adam has been interviewed. Said he was trying "shrooms" and it he didn't like how it made him feel. He has mentioned the epiphany at Burning Man more than once. He gets asked a lot about how he came to try out for AI. Rolling Stone were more interested in telling people he was gay. But I have actually heard Adam tell the story more than once. He was at Burning Man with "Cheeks". If he didn't try out when he did, he would be too old by the next year, they have an age limit. He has also said that a lot of his friends at "Wicked" had encouraged him to try out.

Thanks - that's what I heard too.

Anybody up to finding that interview where Adam said Rolling Stone took some poetic license with the Burning Man and drugs story? I remember Adam correcting the RS story at some point but laughing that it was a better story.

He didn't have an epiphany to try out for Idol....it was more an epiphany that he wanted to be proactive and take his career to the next level, that he wasn't satisfied with what he was doing and not be afraid to go for things to get what he wanted....and the chance of Idol happened at the right time. At least thats how I understand it when he's spoken about it.

This isn't the time Adam said Rolling Stone took some poetic license with the Burning Man story but it is from the interview in Details where he tells a different version than Rolling Stone told.

"That summer, on a spiritual quest of sorts, he went to the Burning Man Festival in the Nevada desert. While on acid for the first time, he says, "I had a spiritual epiphany about the world and where I fit into it and what I am supposed to be doing. And my epiphany was, like, I can't be afraid anymore. I have to take life by the balls and make shit happen."

When he got back to L.A., he decided to try out for American Idol."

Adam has also said something at some point about not thinking about Simon Cowell while at Burning Man.

All of this is interesting on how our memories of what we read or saw on TV isn't always perfect.

All that is history though and I'm looking forward to what is next for Adam and I can't wait to hear his new music :)
