Adam Lambert: My Wish Is For Gay To Become Less Of A Label

Openly gay singer Adam Lambert says the music industry is quickly becoming more accepting of LGBT artists.
The 33-year-old Lambert made his comments in a wide-ranging interview with glossy Hunger TV.
“It's quickly changing along with society,” Lambert said of the music industry's acceptance of LGBT artists. “I'm thrilled. We have entered a time with a much more level playing field.”
“You've been credited with advancing gay rights in music, which definitely needed to happen. Do you feel a responsibility to continue to do so?”
“I think there's a simple power in being unapologetic and open about who and what you are and not letting it prevent you from getting what you want,” Lambert answered. “In that way, I think I've made a statement. My wish is for gay to become less of a label, and more of just one of many great colours in the collective box of humanity. I'm not a separatist. I'm all inclusive.”

"I'm not a separatist. I'm all inclusive."

How many of us here can say the same?

Wow...........

AMEN, 1:41PM. Thank you.... Premium reminder.

This is NOT even really a gay issue. It's not just a call to action to benefit gay persons.

It's a heart & mind issue within US.
.... Around us.

Thank you for inviting me to look inside my self and do some checking. I need to make progress just as anyone else.

Blessings to you! Well done. :-)

I thought he said he was proud to be gay, so why object now when he is labeled gay. If you like his music , buy it. May be he is being sensitive about being gay, I don't know why, he has shouted it from the roof tops, that he is gay, so what? He will still be gay, with or without the label.

why wouldn't he want the gay label? isn't that what he is?? or maybe he is bisexual and not wanting a gay label stuck on him. I still think he has laid a woman. just my theory

Adam understands the nuances of being gay more than just about anyone here. He's been honest from Day One. He doesn't have to go around talking about it and explaining it all the time. He did that for a long time after Idol. Now, finally, being gay should just be a natural thing, just like having blue eyes or big feet. You shouldn't have to discuss it; it's one of many things he is.

@4:49 PM and @6:04 PM

You two are unbelievable! Are you sure you are not the same person? If you are straight; do you want people walking around talking about how straight you are every time you are interviewed. Why not? aren't you proud to be straight?

Or, if you are Gay; do you want people asking you about being gay all day?

I understand what Adam means; he is proud to be who he is; if he were straight he would be proud. All he is saying, is that one day it will be so excepted it won't even be a subject to talk about all the time.

Just like any other human being with differences; they can be proud and the differences can be accepted without thinking about the differences.

A person's sexual orientation is not all that a person is. Everyone knows that Adam is A young Gay American! NEXT!!!

@6:04 PM: Right after Idol when Adam appeared on a special interview about him on national Television, on a program called Night Line; he was asked if he were bisexual and he said that he was not bisexual; that he was Gay. He did say he thought that women were beautiful and that he was bi-curious and had made out with women at clubs and usually drinks were involved he said laughingly.

I choose to take Adam at his word. One of the most endearing things about Adam; he is honest some think to a fault. Your theory is crazy. I would believe Adam always over anything others may say about him! He is definitely not ashamed of being who he is.

I am so proud of him. I agree with everything he said in that wonderful interview. He was so honest and can accept the truth; all of it about himself.

Our Gift from God, Is One In A Billion; both quotes from Brian and Roger of Queen; and I agree 100%!

Good Night all; have a nice evening!

you missed the whole point , as usual. He was so proud to be gay and out, now he doesn't want it to be a label for him. Gay people will always be labeled, because it is different from the norm. Who said he was ashamed, you are lying as usual. I take Adam for his word he is not lying, like you. He said he is a proud gay person, but now he doesn't want the label. Adam said that , not me.

why did he mention laying a woman in an interview for RS called "emotional rescue"? was that a little lie???

He said he has never had sex with a woman. He got quite cozy with Ke$ha one night after drinking, but that was all. He was asked once by an interviewer if he ever had sex with a woman, he sort of gave an affirmative answer, and he was asked if he liked it, and he answered and said "it was nice", but you could tell from his body language and voice that he wasn't telling the truth.
In my opinion I see nothing wrong with him not being turned on with a woman, it is natural for him to be only interested with a guy. He obviously not bi-sexual. All these types of questions seemed to be after Idol, when people were learning for the first time that he was gay, and they were trying to understand about a gay person. Thankfully he is not faced with these questions any more. He says he is an open book, I don't think he should ever been asked such personal questions in the first place. There are some questions that are strictly off limits.

Nice piece Adam! Would like to offer a little suggestion...Since you mentioned 'colours' how about follow up with....in the crayon box of humanity. All the crayons serve a different purpose and give different shades to make a wholesome beautiful picture...'collective' is fine too.
Labels are for wines, clothes, even groceries...people should never have to carry a label ! Who gives you that authority anyway to label people?

he crushes on women all the time. so he is turned on in some sort of fashion. he says women are beautiful, so he is attracted. I still think he is bi in his thinking.

Actually he has said several times that he did have sex with a woman. It seems to have happened during the glam nation tour. Why do you people here never know anything about adam? It's kinda bizzarre. He has even said it during a Twitter party.

I recall Adam saying in an interview that the sex he had with a woman was oral sex. I won't go into the reason he said he didn't consummate the liaison - it would be somewhere on the internet.

Live for the day when 'all inclusive' is the new norm - or better yet, when the word 'norm' is abolished... :)

The posters fixated on Adam's sex life, please try to educate yourselves some more, maybe then you will get what Adam's talking about.

When I read his statement I thought that he meant we should embrace all people, that their race, religion, orientation, national origin should not matter, we are all voyagers on planet Earth. A very small planet in a great universe.

At present we should not be fighting, we should be worrying about existence with polution killing our oceans, fresh water supplies drying up, air so thick some countries have to wear masks to breathe, glaciers melting, etc.

And that is my rant for the day !!!
