Wow! I wonder if he's gonna go on tour.

Anonymous said...

Will Queen + Adam be on stage only that night? How long will they play?

Anonymous said...

Wow many great artists will be there.

Queen needs to go away! Era 3 is for Adam's Original High

Never fear it will all work out. I doubt very much that Adam will be ready to tour with his own album until the end of the year, or even the first of 2016. It won't be released until the fall.
He can do Queen easily, and it will also help his sales, and sales for his own tour. I think his label knows what is best for him and them. It's a business, and we are not in charge.

Adam will always be part of Queen, and won't interfere with his solo album, it will only enhance it.

This festival sells out in hours every year.

1:31 PM, yes, QAL is only playing one night. All the big acts only play one night. I haven't seen a schedule for the stage they will be on but One Republic and The Script are also on that stage that day.

I suppose we can assume that each act at RIR will do a multi-song set, but probably not a full concert-length 2-2 1/2 hr. set. There are too many acts for each one do perform for that long. LOTS of big names at this show! Adam's continued performances with Queen help keep his visibility high and his cred strong. This is all to the good when it comes to TOH sales and the possibility of a solo tour. Kind of a trump card for Adam. :) Era 3 seems to be off to a strong start!

I'm extremely excited for Adam's new music, too..

But Queen is an iconic band who has generously taken Adam under their very experienced "wings" and have helped to raise his profile in the UK, Europe, etc.

Rock In Rio is a massive and renowned Music Festival.. This is only the 2nd time Queen has performed there, the 1st time being the inaugural RIR 30 years ago.. What an honor for Adam to be performing with them this year!

I have nothing but gratitude and great respect for Brian May and Roger Taylor.. I also have no doubt that Adam will make more appearances with them occasionally.

Anonymous said...

Depending on how early the shows start each act can do a full set.

Anonymous said...

That sounds like Brian and Roger are doing Adam a favor. They aren't benevolent uncles with nothing to do. It's not meant to be a platform for Adam. It's much more than that and wouldn't be happening without Adam's amazing talent and Queen's desire to tour again.

Anne Marie said...

Queen do seem to want to tour occasionally, but only with Adam. He is their front man now. I think it was Roger who said if and when they do any more tours it will only be with Adam. This is all good for Adam, and not only that but he loves singing with Queen. He is also loves doing his own music, he will make time for both, and I believe Warner will back him to the hilt on this one.

Anonymous said...

Adam is a part of Queen legacy and Queen is a part of Adam's. Nothing anyone can say will change that fact.

Anonymous said...

Rock In Rio has been live streamed in the past. Hopefully they will do it again this year.

Does anybody speak Portuguese and could find a previous schedule to see how much time they usually give the three bands on the main stage?

Anonymous said...

I'm ready for Adam's new music too. I'm OK with Queen once a year.

Anonymous said...

Someone is having a tantrum here again eh!!:). Queen +Adam Lambert will continue as long as there is a request for them to perform together!!!:) Millions of fans will decided for that!!! and we love them both!!! For the meantime, we focus on Adam's ALBUM and the first single indeed!!!:) He is also a solo artist that he needs our help!:) FOLKS let's make the 2015 awesome for Adam's first single!!! Let us make this song goes top to the chart once it's released. Rock on!!:)

He's calling it success? What else was it going to be? This selling out is as big of a suprise as Lollapalooza or Glastonbury selling out.

Anonymous said...

There was talk about a couple of other South American countries mentioned a while back, but not confirmed. That may happen too, if they are going all that way, they might as well do a couple more. None of this is going to make any difference as to when Ghost Town will be released, or the Original High album in the fall. The timing is really good, Adam won't tour with his own music, until it has been out for a few months.

4:11 PM, The Original High is coming out this summer, not fall.

Anonymous said...

3:51 things can change on a dime from year to year and he is happy presale sold out , not taking things for granted with the over touring going on now a days. Never a good idea to get too cocky.

1) wonder if ️Adam will stay in Rio for a couple more days? 2) wonder if QAL might add some shows in So Americam while there?

Depends which site you are on, I have heard it both ways, summer and fall. Which might mean the end of summer.

Anonymous said...

4:33 PM, LOL.

glitzylady said...

We've seen "fall" for Adam's new album "The Original High" on one site (that may have been picked up and repeated elsewhere unfortunately and it was a misprint... It was subsequently corrected to read "summer"... Shoshanna Stone also said fall was incorrect..

Seems like summer it is...

Anonymous said...

5:11 PM, Shosh said the article that said Fall was incorrect.

Anne Marie said...

So far Warner Music hasn't set a firm date. May be they are waiting to see how the single is going to go. Summer is from June 21st thru September 22nd, if you go by the calendar.

To all my friend Glamberts I am still in the hospital. Operation was on the 27. The next day Saturday they put me in the chair when they went to put me in bed I fainted dead way they gave me two bags of blood plus other IV. I going on ten days right now on swing bed status. May get out tues but still not great shape so will see. But doing better.
I have not felt up to texting but I promised I let you know and I had no idea be here this long.
I'll let you know when I get out hopefully sooner than later but still in lot pain. Doing therapy. So worried will. It be out by time Adam does promotion. Not lot of TV stations here. Anyway felt bit better it's been so much longer than I thought I be in hospital. To my friends I try to keep my promises. Still in hospital hoping go home next week not sure. Have a long way to recover on this. Sue

So good to hear from you, Sue! I was just thinking of you this AM. Wishing you a speedy recovery and a speedy discharge. Sending you lots of love and light! Even if you miss any Adam promotion, it'll all be archived in AL 24/7 for you to catch up at your leisure.

Sue, rest assured that you have a lot of friends here who are thinking of you and hoping for your speedy recovery. Adam has brought us together and we are here for each other. You are such a supportive fan. Hope when Ghost Town is released on the 21st, you'll be here flailing with the rest of us. Take care!

There's to be 600,000 at Rock in Rio but there mightn't be that number in attendance every night. That figure might apply to the total number of nights of the whole gig.

Anonymous said...

Hey Sue! Thanks so much for letting us know how you're doing. I will keep you and your continued recovery in my prayers. We need every Glambert at full strength to support Era 3! ;)

Like a few of the others who commented on this thread, I wonder if QAL will perform any other dates in South America around that time. I think when Adam was at the Brit Awards and was interviewed on the red carpet, when he was asked something about Queen he was rather coy. I think he smiled and said "Maybe". The Rock in Rio gig is no secret, so I wonder what IS. :)

8:43 PM, that figure does apply to the total attendance over the 7 days. I have read daily attendance has been limited in the past to 85,000 to 100,000 people per day.

As for how long the last headlining act can play, Bruce Springsteen has twice played 3 hr sets there. That sounded unusual though.

Hi Sue!!! Many healing thoughts being sent your way!!!!

glitzylady said...

Regarding additional Queen + Adam Lambert dates in South America:

We heard reports/rumors (still unconfirmed but intriguing) just before the official Rock In Rio Music Festival gig was officially announced of other QAL shows *possibly* being planned for at least 3 countries in South America, but nothing has been mentioned since then..

September is still 5 months away so it seems like it is entirely possible that there will be more shows.. It takes a lot of time, money, equipment, and staff to transport even part of the QAL stage show that distance so it would make sense to make the most of it!!!

Maybe if you're taking a close look at the picture, you'll make a more accurate idea what a Rock in Rio, Brazil concert with Queen means. I'm sure Adam is more aware that it's not an opportunity to miss, one night, about 2 hours, in no case, will it affect his work of promoting The Original High.
Hmm, "the Moor has done his work, the Moor may go"???, I don't think so.

A friendly reminder and addition to Queen guys and QAL raising Adam's profile...

It's US that needed it most, still does. US and UK are the huge music market influencers. UK needed a big push, hoping they will be onboard from now on... The rest of the continents/countries that have always embraced Adam, will be onboard this time, too. Adam is not forgotten in these countries, where he was embraced from the get go... Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, rest of the Europe, even countries where he's never toured or visited/performed.

It's US that is his toughest market to get onboard, and there are lots of reasons for that, like we all know.

@April 5 4:02 - Agree with a lot of that. Thx for post

I went to the Rock in Rio website to check out the lineup, and got to thinking....the vast majority of the headliners are from the US or the UK. I can't seem to name one well-known artist from South America, and it's a very large continent. I have a sister-in-law from Brazil; she gave me a Cheyanne CD she had in her car, and I just love it (though I can't understand a word of it! LOL). That being said, it's not rock. So my thoughts are that maybe rock isn't as popular in South America, but then why such a big turnout for Rock in Rio in Brazil? I can make some assumptions on the lack of well-known artists from SA in the US...initial thoughts are: fewer artists in the "rock" genre, less promotion $ available, and the language barrier (that is, people who speak only English may not want to listen to music sung in a different language). If you guys have other thoughts on this, I'd love to hear them.

Sepultura is a famous Brazilian band.Different genre: Heavy Metal. ;)

Anonymous said...

4:55 AM, it is called Rock in Rio but there is quite a variety of genres represented. Rock, pop, EDM, indie, etc.

Check their Wikipedia page. There are lots of Brazilian, Spanish and Portuguese performers on the other two stages.

Shakira and Ivete Sangalo have been headliners.

I would say the reason the biggest performers in the world are the headliners on the main stage is because they draw the biggest crowds. About half of the festival goers are from other countries. English is often the common language in "rock" music.

Anonymous said...

Thank you to all. Can't wait Adam single to drop. I want to be home hopefully for that. Sue

Anonymous said...

@5:20 & @5.47, thanks for your comments. Shakira! I hadn't thought about her. And I didn't realize how many people were coming from outside South America and about all the other stages.
