I just saw/listened... I think "Ouch" is pretty descriptive....

Making fun of a hugely successful singer when you are not is just not smart, you would think he learned his lesson from the les miz disaster

Somebody elses comment was pretty good about this. "Kanye up for murdering Bohemian Rhapsody, charges will be brought, for this heinous crime"

Rufus Taylor said MUCH more on his Instagram acct. than Adam did.... He's much more closely associated with the Queen legend than Kanye and didn't mince words... (I posted this above but thought I should PG it down...)...

"Watched your "set" last night on TV. Single s******** performance I've ever seen, hands down! Used about 6 tracks that weren't even your own! Not a single correct note sung on the songs without auto tune (about 2). Endless amounts of mistakes, re starts and generally looking like an unprofessional t***. Awful tinny, distorted sound. Basically your still a talentless p**** and also the worst live act ever to do Glastonbury! Boom! Ahh, that feels better! "

glitzylady said...

Here's the performance.. I do have to say, to his credit, I think he was trying to honor Freddie and Queen but still....ouch.....

I wish he would keep his mouth shut once in a while too , I won't

have his back on this one.

Ha Ha, glitzy, I was just now coming in to post the Rufus comment. To bad Rufus doesn't tell us what he really thinks. LOL!

Anonymous said...

Rufus had way to much to say about Florence and The Machine before Glastonbury too.

Anne Marie said...

Such an odd song for Kanye to attempt. Made me wonder if he is jealous that Adam got the prize job of being the front man for Queen. May be he thought he could do better, or should have been picked by Queen. Regardless when I saw the video, I noticed the audience all sang too. Could have been to drown him out. I have also read some comments before the concert, that people were not pleased that Kanye was doing the concert at all. I enjoyed Rufus thoughts about it.

The Dark Side said...

No one has more a right to comment on Kanye Bo Rap mess than Adam the new frontman for Queen. That is scared ground, especially in the UK. Gotta wonder what Kanye thinking?

Anonymous said...

I think Rufus was commenting on the whole set that Kanye did, not just the Bohemian Rhapsody.

Anonymous said...

I'm not a Kanye fan, but after watching the video snippet that glitzylady posted here in her comment ... to me, it seems as though Kanye may have chosen BoRhap for it's significance and meaningfulness to this Glastonbury audience. Perhaps the song is also a musical inspiration to Kanye as well? It is to many artists.

Anonymous said...

Rufus is commenting on his instagram where he has under 7k followers, most of whom are probably glamberts. He is not really a public figure and his comments are not going to get media attention or bite him in the ass as someone who is jealous of another persons success.

Anonymous said...

The Dark Side, ha ha, I think you meant "that is sacred ground" not scared ground, although Kanye should have been scared after that, Queen fans might revolt against him.

Anonymous said...

Kanye chose it because their was criticism that people wanted to hear rock songs at Glastonbury. Obviously he isn't going to put it in his regular set. He was just giving the audience a chance to sing.

Anonymous said...

I'm taking the Kanye BoRhap criticism from Rufus and Adam to mean (perhaps)....
"If you can't do it well, don't do it at all".
(or something to that affect)

Perhaps there is a wee bit more to the situation, maybe? It's not like Adam to just publicly criticize another artist's performance (even a Queen song) on a tweet. (Unless he found it offensive?) Many a popular artist has covered Queen songs and done it poorly. Wondering if Kanye offended any Queen (and/or Lambert team) folk - particularly as it relates to this Glastonbury gig - behind the scenes?
Speculation of course.

Anonymous said...

Kanye misses his mom really bad. The mama part of BoRaph is probably an inspiration for him. But OUCH for real.

Anonymous said...

Now that Adam is close with Dr. Brian, Roger, and the band, I do believe he would have felt this was a slap to even an attempt at a tribute. If anyone is allowed to make a critique, it definitely is Adam and Rufus. That said, Adam kept it short and to the point! "Ouch" indeed. As he said in "There I Said It" "I'm not going to apologize anymore." (for his opinions and thoughts.) He is entitled to them and I don't think Kanye is so thin skinned he gives a damn what Adam thinks.

Anonymous said...

Adams comment was about BR, Rufus comments were about Kanyes whole set.

donna w said...

Excuse me but Kanye is an asshole. He deserves ALL the criticism thats coming his way.

He ought to stick to rap....Anyone in the music industry has always said that BoRhap is one of the most difficult songs to sing.

It will be interesting to hear what Kanye has to say about all this. I'm sure he's heard the comments and will say something...he's not one to keep his big mouth shut. Plus, he thinks he walks on water.

And who cares that he misses his mom really bad?? Cry baby.......he's so obnoxious i can't even stand it.....HATE him!

Anonymous said...

The fact that Dr. Bri has expressed his desire to play Glastonbury again with Adam says a great deal about what it means to Queen. Not sure about this venue. Were there other acts? There was a huge crowd! Kanye can't be waking up and saying, man I killed it!" Or maybe he is saying, "Man I murdered it!" Either way it's an oxymoron.

Anonymous said...

I don't know why people are against Adam on this, even his own "fans"? Nothing against Kanye, but honestly, he wasn't that great. Yeezy can slay a rap. but he's not an experienced singer, so he really shouldn't attempt to sing one of the hardest songs ever written. Before you lash out at Adam for stating the obvious; (1:50,1:24) think about it, was he lying?

Anonymous said...

The fact that after he disrespected a masterpiece then proceeded to say "I'm the greatest living rock star" seriously pisses me off.

No doubts in the entire universe that QAL should be the act headlining Glastonbury, and the group performing BoRhap. It's almost crazy, really, that they aren't a part of Glastonbury this year. I don't know who makes those decisions, but whoever they are screwed up. QAL deserves to be there. They're a perfect perfect fit, they would have made history (in the finest of ways), and the reviews and comments here today and on many other media outlets would have been very very different, and certainly a whole lot more fun. I have no idea why they aren't there, performing their OWN music... And Kanye is. Maybe that's the rub. And what has stirred up Rufus and Adam. The fact that Kanye didn't put a bit more fanfare into such an important musical contribution (seemingly) might be a little taste of insult to injury?

Anonymous said...

Ok I love Kanye west and adam lambert but kanye west is a music genius, with 21 Grammys and over six number one albums.lets not forget he's friend with jay z and queen beyonce..... Adam please don't pick a fight with kanye west please please please.i hope he delete the tweet.

For any who find Kanye's performance of BoRhap offensive (and his placement at Glastonbury) no worries..... Queen fans will rip him to shreds for this and sell the pieces on eBay. ;)

@adamlambert This was my reaction. pic.twitter.com/2GBU4dbRC4

We certainly have clever people in this fandom. Lightens the issue up a bit, I think. :)

glitzylady said...

I suspect that Kanye is aware that his cover of Bo Rhap wasn't spot on.. and listening back he may cringe a bit.. and may very well agree with Adam and others..

As I did say in my comment above, I think he was genuinely paying tribute to Queen and the audience seemed to enjoy singing along.. But he really was pretty bad.. No denying that...................

It's always something..

As for the media, well, the media weren't kind to Kanye anyway... This should be interesting...

kanye performed for about two hours. One queen song wasn't significant, one way or the other. In true form he did a bunch of strange things and some loved it and others didn't.

Kanye West should practice some self criticism, do some soul searching and definitely stay out of classic rock, especially ICONIC Classic Rock such as BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY!

Does not matter how many prizes he has won, he ain't no Rock Star and he can't sing. And he's acted like a DB so many times... Doesn't the use of the original Queen BR in a performance of this scale require a permit or some form of a consultation from The Queen guys?

There is probably more to this than we know, hence the strong reaction from Rufus?
Maybe we'll hear more...

Anonymous said...

The diehard Freddie fans will prob act like KW was a wiz kid compared to Adam just to diss Adam.lol ohhh what a world, what a world, what a world .

Anonymous said...

Brian said they could not do Glastonbury, because Adam was not available, I think he is doing promos for his album or something. At least that is what I heard, LOL.
Brian and roger have said that they will not be using anyone else, but Adam for their front man. It just shows that if Kanye has won all those awards, then some people have no taste. But apparently he has many more fans than Adam, and is 100 times richer. There is no accounting for taste. He is probably quite powerful too.

Anonymous said...

I'm sure Kanye was paying tribute to the fact of where he was and sang a song that everybody knows and that is significant to the audience. It was a great opportunity to do a call and response with the audience.

Gabi said...

Kanye likes the attention and the best way to disapprove would be to completely ignore him. Of course BoRap wasn't sung well, but the audience filled in the gaps happily and so be it. I think "it ain't that deep" and Adam himself might be well advised to take his own words to heart sometimes. No, I'm not a Kanye fan, but we need to get over ourselves.

Anonymous said...

2:58 PM, yes, there were other acts there. It is a 5 day festival with over 150,000 people attending. There are hundreds of acts on dozens of stages.

Anonymous said...

Ok, well, it's not about the performance for me. Who cares really. He copied JayZ with his Glastonbury intro, opening with an a beloved song in the UK (Jay did it perfectly with Wonder Wall) getting the home crowd going and all that.

It is the comments that I read here. Really? Adam better "keep his mouth shut" "Adam, please don't pick a fight with Kanye, please, please, please" and "oh my god the media has picked up this story, not good". Boy, the Kanye cool aid must taste very good!

So there is that, but lest we forget the not one, but TWO times Mr West felt it was his artistic right to express his opinion by publicly, televised around the world, humiliate two kind and deceiving artists. OK, well he waited until after the Grammys to REAM Beck publicly.

So fear not the almighty Kanye West and go forward without anymore of this b-------!

Anonymous said...

Meant kind and deserving artists! But you knew that!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Adam wants media attention . That's all

donna w said...

Well, according to many of the reviews...they all said that Kanye was horribly off key and murdered BoRhap.

However, they also said that the audience seemed to love him......

So you're right. Theres no accounting for bad taste. However, i don't EVER want to hear a critic reporting that Adam was bad or off key...........SERIOUSLY???

Anonymous said...

Well Adam wasn't the only one saying ouch to that others in UK did as well. They are in public eyes according to Rollingstone. There is a video of Kanye/Adam performance of BR in that article. No big deal. There I (Adam) Said It.

Anonymous said...

It's not about Kanye, it's about adam dissing another srtist publicly and Implying that he is better. That kind of thing does him no good. When he did it over the singing in Les Miz the director of the film was very offended and said some nasty things about adam. Others just said adam was jealous because he couldn't get a film role.

In this case Kanye is an incredibly successful musician with something like 60 grammy nominations and 21 wins. He has apparently sold 11 million albums in the states alone and millions and millions of singles. His last album was regarded a masterpiece. So what if he didn't do a good job singing one song in one concert? No one was there to hear him sing queen songs. It's kind of funny that he attempted it but it's certainly nothing to make a big deal over.

Anonymous said...

Those of you all "skeered" of Adam voicing his opinion for fear of all this bad reverb....We live in America and we should be allowed to give our opinion. There is nothing he said that Kanye hasn't heard before and worse. At least Adam doesn't run up on stage and try to steal somebody;s award because the Almighty Kanye thinks the world got it wrong. He doesn't get embarrased even in front of millions or thousands when he does bizarre stuff. He likes the attention, so believe me, this does not give him a second thought to who or who doesn't like his performance. Like one poster said, Kanye won't even notice because his ego is way too big to give a damn what anyone has to say. He didn't even bat an eye when the iconic David Crosby called him a poser and a no talent. Adam is unabashed with his comment. Considering all the positive and supportive comments he has made over the years to deserving artists, this jackloop won't miss a beat from Adam's honest observation.

Anonymous said...

Hahahahaaaaa that tweet made my day, lol.

At least you tried, Kanye, lol.

Anonymous said...

Rolling Stone Mag. even did an article where a bit of Kanye's performance was shown, and then Adam's performance. Twitter was going wild last night over how bad Kanye sounded, never mind changing the words. We all know there's a lot of untalented people out in the music industry, who sell a lot, but can't deliver a live un autotuned song and some mess up even then. If Adam hadn't sung BR as well as he has done from AI til now, perhaps I can see something being said. Thinking it made the UK quite happy to have had Adam doing himself and Queen proud. The issue is it's an iconic song, by an iconic band, who themselves have always respected the song and it's composer FM and to try to rap badly over BR is an insult. Adam has a right to express himself about music and to criticize those doing songs badly, the same as anyone else can. Most of the UK expressed themselves, so why can't Adam? Think we're a bit too touchy over what Adam can and should do. Overinvestment.

Anonymous said...

Hey 4:46. Adam wants media attention, huh? Something Kanye never wants? Actually, I believe if he gets media attention it will be in favor of his comment. Anyone watching it can see Kanye murdered a classic iconic song. Even Rolling Stone knew to put Adam's version next to it to show how ridiculous Kanye's version was. The only people that will go after Adam are Kanye's fans. Trust me, Adam's fans can push back just as quick, so let the games begin. There will be no fallout for Adam other than some saying (believe me many people other than Adam's fanbase hate Kanye)way to go Adam for telling it like it is. You can believe Adam when he speaks out becuase it is few and far in between when he does find anything to critique against. Most people know what a humble and decent MAN Adam is, and in comparison to the wannabe greatest rock star ever, Adam comes out far and above Kanye. Adam is a "grown-ass" man and can take care of himself and his opinions. "There I Said It!" And Adam won't apologize or live in the shadows! Get it?

Anonymous said...

Well said, 5:01. Acute observations. Reasonable conclusions, and until we learn more.... Possibly closest to the reality of the situation from the larger perspective.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Anonymous said...

Well, it's a good thing he had the audience join in. At least THEY were on key. Makes me wonder if all of his songs that might have singing in them have been auto tuned completely. What DOES he do in a live performance if this is true?

Anonymous said...

Thank you for the free (and effective) publicity for Adam you did, Kanye!

Adam doesn't have to have "perfect" opinions, or "perfect" behavior at this point in his career.... He simply needs to stay relevant and highly visible in the public eye.

His talent will speak for itself. Many more potential fans may be curious ab Adam if his comments are noticed and outlets like Rolling Stone keep up what they're doing.

I don't think there is any reason to be concerned for Adam over this. He'll be more than fine. And most likely, even better.

HK fan said...

I watched the video a couple of days ago after reading Rufus'tweet......and all I can say is that Adam was extremely polite and restrained with ouch....he could have said a lot worse, a whole lot worse...that was embarrassingly bad, not one word on key, the wrong lyrics...he performed it to try and appease the festival goers who were angry that a non rock act was headlining, and it was supposedly one of his favourite songs...obviously not a favourite enough one to actually learn the words....any 5 year old could have sung it better.
I've also read the RS article and all the comments...only 1 positive 1, the rest are very negative.

Top 40 single, hit album. Sold out Arena filling, critically acclaimed, multi - million dollar world tour with Queen, Appearances on the Ellen show, Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America, Glee. Grammys mean absolutely nothing. In fact Queen has never won a Grammy, yet still are one of the most sucessfull groups in music history. Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Bob Marley, all never won a Grammy, but are still more relevant and popular than Kanye. Beyonce is not queen, you know who is? Queen. Beyonce and Jay-Z don't help your argument, all celebrities have famous friends. Adams friends with Brian May and Roger Taylor. Rock and Roll Hall of fame legends not with 6 number one albums but 14. 300 million albums sold, along with the biggest selling Uk album album of all time. Bohemian Rhapsody often referred to as the greatest song of all time. Kanye a musical genius, funny. Brian May: a composer, a writer, plays electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, vocals. Adam, has an undeniable talent and an amazing personality. I love Kanye West trust me yeezy is talented but he's more of a producer and less of a performer love them both tho.(:

Just watched the video. This is simply Kanye at his egotistical, self-promoting worst. I know, I know. He's won all those awards, etc., and he has million and millions of fans, etc. I just think he has no concept of the limitations of his capabilities. I guess he had no intention of actually performing the song. He seemed to want it to be just an audience sing-a-long. If that was the case, he should have said so up front. Then he wouldn't have gotten such flak. He seems to think he walks on water. This time he sank. I think Adam's comment was extremely mild. Lots of others agreed with Adam, too, so he certainly wasn't alone. I don't think Adam will get any major heat for his comment. God knows, he has the cred to have an informed opinion on how Queen songs are performed. BR is truly a sacred song in the rock world. It shouldn't be messed with too much, IMO. Looks like Kanye crossed the line this time.

Lam-My said...

Just watched the Kanye West BR video. The Queen chorus started off very beautifully, brilliant harmony, every note; and that could have spiked the expectancy of what should have followed. But the whole thing took a 90 degrees nosedive and that exacerbated the disaster, from sooo high to sooo low in terms of singing performance.
I tend to feel KW may be a little tone-deaf, could be due to being a rapper who does not really sing; couldn't hit any note let alone those huge Mama notes. Adam seldom says anything about other artists' performances as far as I know, but Bohemian Rhapsody is very close to his heart and also his love for Freddie and Queen.

krismidas said...

The Queen chorus started off beautifully because it was Queen on a backing track. Kanye didn't start singing until Mama.

Isn't that what I stated? Queen chorus means sung by Queen, obviously taped. They are a very distinct pinpoint-perfect choral group.

If he didn't know who he was; I bet he does now. Adam better make sure that if he ever wins an award over one of Kanya West's friends or him; he better make sure that Kanya doesn't run up on stage and try to grab it from him! That would probably be a sight to remember! The results of that attempt my go very, very bad for one person; and it would not be 6ft 2inch well built; unafraid Adam Lambert!!!

Kanya has no shame; at the BB awards he just cursed all throw that rap what ever it was. I thought it was ridiculous.

The magazine cover he and his wife Kim were on; was campaigned for over a period of time. This respectful man as some believe, said that if Mrs. Obama, the First Lady of the United States; why not his wife; because after all Kim was more of a fashion Icon. That is what he said!! Low and behold he and his wife Kim landed on the cover with baby! This man respects no one unless it is helping him and his wife! He is rude most of the time. Just because you are famous, does not people have to worship at your feet. I have never heard him sing; don't know if he can; but he is doing something that his fans like.

No one here owns Adam, he can do and say any darn thing he wants; about KW or anyone else. He can handle whatever comes his way; so who ever is worrying about it; don't, known of your darn business. He told you that he was, "A GROWN ASS MAN",
so just shut up with the instructions and warnings to him! His back is covered by Glamberts all over this big wide wonderful world! "THERE I SAID IT"! You go
Mr. Adam M. Lambert, with your bad ass self!!!!!!

I'm curious about the anonymous' comment/s above claiming that nobody knows Adam or KW doesn't know Adam!? If nobody knows Adam then why all your comments that Adam shouldn't voice his opinion? Why are you worried so much about all the things he does with his career or personal life since in your opinions here and in various threads, articles and blogs he is unknown?

Anonymous said...

I would wager to say that Adam is fairly known in the music world; especially considering his highly successful and publicized collaboration with Queen, and their recent world-wide tour. This is a significant event in the music world, and the monetary, ticket and attendance standings of the tour's success placed QAL's tour up there in the top tens along with other highly artists of "today". Just because Adam & Queen are contributors within a different genre doesn't mean we can assume that Kanye doesn't know who Adam is and somewhat familiar with what he is doing. I think it's more likely that Kanye knows about him than he doesn't. They both know and have collabed recently with the same people as well. In fact, the two may have met before for all we know.

Anonymous said...

Now as to whether Kanye would even care squat about Adam's opinion is another story...

Anonymous said...

There are unwritten gentleman rocker rules that are not broken, things that are not tampered with, a code of conduct...all things that this gangsta is clueless of. Period. Plus he can't sing.

Most of the time this site is SOOO quiet, even with the best Adam news, the number of comments stays low, but alas any slight chance of something controversial and/or negative, bickering or dirt slinging, suddenly those threads gather commenters like honey gathers bees...

Commenting is good but what is really puzzling is the general vibe on these kind of threads....like you are NOT allowed to say things that anyone with eyes, ears and love for music sees, hears and feels. And even ADAM is NOT allowed to voice his opinions but is hushed by so called fans on a fan site bearing his name.

Here the comments should be (allowed to be) PASSIONATE for Adam, a wide range of range of issues and feelings, thoughts and discussions evoked by Adam, his persona and part in music & entertainment business. Not to be skeeerrddd of saying your piece or sushed or bullied by some Anon or pretending to be Anon commenters, PC enthusiasts or 'fans of others'!

To take a stand should be allowed, as long as it's made in a civil manner. As should be unconditional love for Adam Lambert, the reason so many started coming to blogs like this. Kanye like any other big name has their own fan sites and blogs. If you're more concerned about KW or more of a fan of anyone else, please state your business in those places.

Here on an AL fan site I as a fan should also be allowed to voice my opinion of Adam being better than someone else or that imo Adam is The Best Singer in the whole world; that's not mocking anyone else, that is just a devoted AL fan stating his/her loving admiration for the one and only Adam Lambert! And that should be okay with anyone else here (whether you similtaneously are a fan of how many other performers or not).

Unnecessary to bring Robbie to this, he can sing and keep tune.

It was not just the bad singing but taking one of most iconic classic rock songs of all time and molesting it.

And it was "the incessant cursing" during his performance (live broadcadt!) that aggravated people and made even BBC subtitling people go bonkers. And there was more....
