Anyone who supports Adam Lambert will be happy to hear that Forbes magazine, in its annual review of the top-earning American Idols, has calculated for 2015 that Adam has moved up to #1!  They estimate his take at $10 million.  The #2 spot is Carrie Underwood with $8 million – ironically, last year she was #1 at the same $10 million figure.

Last year, Adam was in the #7 position with $2.5 million, so he has done very well in one year, with the major attribution to this rise being his concert appearances with Queen.

The piece includes both a slideshow and a video of the Top 5, although no embed codes are available for either, so you will have to see both directly on Forbes website.

Well done, Adam, and congratulations!

"American Idol is entering its final season, but the stars it has minted in the past are burning bright as ever – and, lately, none more than Adam Lambert."

Forbes Earning Methodology:  "Our estimates are calculated with the help of data from Pollstar, the RIAA, music industry sources and the teams.  These numbers reflect pretax earnings in our June 2014 through June 2015 scoring period."

This is nothing more than Adam deserves for all of his talent and hard work. Goes to show how important Tours are in calculating success, and Queen's sold-out arenas are a testament to Adam as well as Queen. As it was said Queen was a porsche in a garage without a driver............until Adam came along.

Here's to Adam being #1 again from June 2015 - 2016 from his TOH Tours ( and his moonlighting gigs with Queen)!!

Wow Adam! Way to go! @Anonymous I love the "Porsche in a garage without a driver" analogy! Very true! I love that Adam is really enjoying and learning from the Queen gigs. I love anything he does and he seemingly can do it all. Look at what he did with Girl Crush on the CMT awards.

Queen helped give Adam the chance to promote his OWN music in a bigger, more professional way. He is now able to really have a world-class show of his own. He earned his way with Queen through sheer talent and guts. Now, I hope his own music will be his mainstay for years to come, long after his days with Queen are over. So glad he's at the top of the earners' list. He worked hard to it. BTW, I love "Porsche in a garage without a driver, " too! Great line!

The headline of the article is 'misleading' - on purpose, I know, I know...

But please, Am Idol, time to let go... Adam's payed you back more than enough! ;)

Adam's earnings last year have very little to do with Am Idol, and mostly everything to do with The Man himself (his own hard work throughout the years, his new music) and him touring with Queen. Plus Adam shares very little with the other names on that list. Out of these Idols and Idol contestants in general, he is the one and only with true international star power, known and celebrated WORLDWIDE (outside US, Australia, New Zealand, England, i.e. countries with English as their major language).

So happy for Adam!!!

It's true. I think he's the only Idol alum (exception might be Kelly, maybe Carrie) who has a large international following. That's a significant thing to remember. It's a huge accomplishment.

It looks like Daughtry and PP are doing very well. They tour A LOT! What kinds of venues do they perform in? I don't know. PP had that super hit "Home," which is a great song. I know he was opening for John Mayer at one time. Don't know about now.
I just love that Adam is at the top of the heap. He is so completely different from any of the other alums. Unique. Memorable. Perfect.

Credit goes to Elton John for that analogy, which I mangled by relying on my memory - he said Queen was " a Ferrari sitting in a garage waiting for a bloody driver". Apologies!

This Forbes headline is trending for Adam, which in a perverse way will bring more attention for him here in the US where $$ is such a yardstick. He may be taken more seriously by the public and the powers that be, which will only help his career. It is actually timely as he will be a key player in the AI hype this last season. I know many are ready for the AI tag to disappear for Adam, but this last bit of AI publicity may be a nice boost for the US TOH Tour we are hoping for.

A few comments..

The article was not really an American Idol article per se, although it does involve former American Idol contestants.. Forbes.com (and magazine) reports on any and all aspects of the economy and money, from show biz to taxes, singers to retailers, politics to computers.. and American Idol past contestants. I would assume that there are people who are interested in how the various contestants are doing... When Adam is on top, I'm interested... :))

I'm absolutely beyond THRILLED that Adam is doing so well... He's definitely one of the GREAT success stories from the show and it just seems so absolutely RIGHT and deserved, that he's the #1 earner this time around..

Even though he doesn't need validation as an artist, because we know he is a vastly talented one, it does show those who may not follow his career that he's doing just FINE!!!! Better than fine actually!!!

Adam will always have a certain connection to American Idol.. American Idol has been a fixture in our culture since 2002 and the show gave us Adam Lambert.. For which I am ETERNALLY grateful!!!

I watched the premier episode of Idol tonight and while I wasn't totally blown away by anyone (there was some talent there but hard to say at this point what will happen with any of them..), I LOVED seeing the huge poster of Adam in the audition rooms, right up there with the winners AND the most successful..

This Forbes article lets people know that he's a winner and always was...

And yes, good promo for Adam for his upcoming tour...

It's ALL good!!!!

It was cool seeing the poster of Adam in the position closest to the judges on AI tonight!

@Anon8, @glitzylady
Valid points, both of you - my only point was that outside US Adam has had a Super Star status already for years, and this FACT should be more known & appreciated in his home country! This info could also be beneficial (used?) as PR for his (hopefully materializing) TOH Tour in US... My humble opinion is that Adam still is so greatly undervalued in US and clinging on to his Idol times/fame/image does not help much in today's fickle entertainment/pop/rock business...

I'm not trying to put down anyone else (coming from Idol), not trying to annoy anyone here, but c'moon, ADAM TRULY IS IN A LEAGUE OF HIS OWN in versatility, vocals/use of voice, range and WORLDWIDE appeal as the most talented, sexiest (had to say this, too!) singer/leading man/vocalist there is!

Did I mention that my love & appreciation for Adam continues as strong as ever for the 8th consecutive year... :))))) Peace & Love!
