With the surprise release of his Welcome to the Show video this week, Adam Lambert is also sharing some deep thoughts about identity.

‘Sometimes it’s terrifying to face your true, whole self, stripped of any pretense. The good, the bad, the cracks, and the scars,’ the singer writes in a Flaunt Magazine post.

‘I am no stranger to the feeling of not liking myself. Once I get past my own body image issues, I realize that I sometimes also neglect my own spirit. Living in a world filled with so much hatred sometimes makes cultivating self-love a very difficult task. I have always struggled with this as I’m sure many of you have.’

Adam did not say he has gotten over his body issues. The way I read it, they are recurring and need to be dealt with over and over again. It works that way for most of us.

I was just going to say the same thing.. The headline of the article is a bit misleading and misconstrued, in my opinion. He says he has "gotten past" them (body image issues) but I doubt that he has gotten over them.. Once you have them, they are always there, in the back of your mind, and they do still pop up from time to time.... We are our own worst critics, certainly. I'm so glad that he has had at least some time to nourish his spirit, his soul, because that is so important that we take care of ourselves, cultivate our own happiness, and develop that love of self.. and I do hope that nourishment, that care of self, continues for him, each and every day from now on.. I really do hope he understands how beautiful and special he is as a human being..

His actual words:

‘I am no stranger to the feeling of not liking myself. Once I get past my own body image issues, I realize that I sometimes also neglect my own spirit. Living in a world filled with so much hatred sometimes makes cultivating self-love a very difficult task. I have always struggled with this as I’m sure many of you have.’

are revealing in that he perhaps understands himself better, appreciates himself and what he has, accepts himself as loved and valued. They make my heart happy for him.. That he is at least trying to love himself for who he is.. Words that that we can all take a lesson from.

I also noticed that he talks about his body image in the present tense, not the past tense. It's apparently a continuous struggle for him. He has talked about his weight issues as a teenager and has tied them with dealing with his sexuality at that time in his life. We look at him and see a tall, broad-chested, well-proportioned, extremely handsome man who is sexy and confident. He sees so much more in himself. Being in the public eye adds a whole other level of stress over one's looks. So many celebrities go to the extreme with cosmetic surgery, etc. Adam seems to realize that there's a balance between outer beauty and inner beauty. I love looking at that handsome face, but I love who he is inside even more.

It seems he has struggled with his body issues for most of his life, and if we are honest, we all do. Because he is in front of people and the camera, it hits him a lot more than it does us. I think he works very hard to overcome those issues, he has even worn makeup in high school, most guys don't do that, but he had bad skin, that really troubled him. I don't think it was a gay issue that he wore makeup.
OT, on some other cites people are wondering where he is, right now. Speculating , myself, I would assume he has gone home , at least for a while. He hasn't seen much of his home, or what the garden renovations turned out. Also he left AU one day, and when he got back it was the day before he left, because of the time difference. Not sure if you get jet lag from that, but it must feel weird. I am sure he wants to see family and friends, hope he has a little party this week end, and can just relax and be himself. No concerts, no interviews, no judging and no cameras.

He's been on such a hectic schedule for so long, that it must feel strange and disorienting to have free time.

On the other hand he may be just as busy doing stuff we are not aware of..yet...like working on his next album.. or doing some promotion with that MLK(?) firm he signed with.

I just hope he gets some serious down-time-- he does seem to be a workaholic. He needs to just play and laugh for a bit... and think about nothing important, i.e. "get out of his head" for a little while....do some good exercising, juicing and whatever to get himself in the best of health....do things that make him happy... and just be lazy for a little while.
