Adam's soliloquy er wisdom has a kind of innocence and you don't have to ponder too much over it to understand its underlying meaning.
So AI hasn't let him off the hook, perhaps they should have done better with regards Adam...ah things weren't lined up properly. lwl!
Adam's soliloquy is true, but most times it's sheer human error or misguided 'wisdom'. And so says the proverb, a bad workman quarrels with his tools. lwl!

Even the heading proves my point...wise on Wednesdays, the other six days, fumbling. lol!

Fumbling sets the brain fathoming
Why one can't climb without trembling
Ah, when things don't line up
According to expectation
That's when the brain starts experimentation
Slowly but surely, we gain wisdom
To see things in the right direction
Always putting others first like Adam!
This process comes with a price
You'll fall or fail many a time
Not that things didn't tow the line
Like Adam says, perhaps
It's really not the right time or the right kind
So take a step back and sip some more wine lwl!

I just found this listing. Adam comes in right after Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley. I think we can bow out to that can't we?^^

Marion... Thanks for the link.
The three Icons mentioned above are indeed geniuses in the field of music/singing/dance/creativity. The common thread running through them is they don't copy; completely different from one another in their style and talent. Perhaps there wasn't anything to copy; they're so ahead of their own time. Now comes Adam, whoa! he seems quite a different story in that he can sing all the songs of the above-mentioned, as good as the originals, some even better and his own works are comparable to the three mentioned Icons. Well, he had three predecessor Maestros for him to follow in their footsteps.

I think Adam has been ready to 'toe the line' since he first set toe on Idol stage.

*tow the line... a deliberate pun! not a misspelling; not using it in the usual sense / to conform. On the contrary, Adam did not toe the line / conform; a major reason, he lost!

Lam-My said...

Can also mean *tow the tugboat line to anchor it or call a *tow truck to get help.

Adam was more than ready to 'toe the line'.......he was knowingly alert to the fact that this was the best chance to get his voice and name out there! He was ready for the race....Ready, Steady, Go! ....... Go! Go! Go!.......best race he ever ran.
Idol gave him the push, as he had hoped, and he is still running straight into fame and fortune.

Adam is a wise man, he knows that if he wants to get what he wants, he needs to toe the line. Alas, the line fell short but he got up on his own two feet and ran his own race to the finish line. Final analysis...he did not toe the line to AI expectations! otherwise he would have been crowned, wouldn't he?

By the way, I think Don Lemon/CNN read my *Fumbling poem (above). He used the word *fumbling twice rather deliberately on his show I just watched, 7 Aug 2016. lwl! Perhaps he likes fumbling! in other situations. lol! Well, he was saying why she keeps fumbling over the emails scandal...Don Lemon critiques both sides with impartiality, that's his job.

Toe the line does not always mean to conform......
