At least Adam wasn't completely shirtless. Baring his shoulders and upper chest was a symbolic way of conveying his "opening up/exposing his inner self" that the song was about, not meant in a sexual, salacious, or attention-grabbing way. It was tastefully done... enhancing, not distracting from, the song's message, IMO.
In general, there's too much "skin"-showing these days...not enough emphasis on talent, IMO.
