A reality television show where aspiring singers compete for a recording contract and a shot at fame and wealth? Sounds like a winning formula — and “American Idol” on Fox was just that, year after year, until its end in 2016.
Launched in 2002, the show focused on finding the best singers, but it also offered viewers weeks of “audition” shows in which bad singers humorously took the stage, too. Contestants had to be between 15 and 28 years old at the time of the taping; and while contestants in the the earlier rounds were evaluated by celebrity judges, in the final competition it was viewers who voted via phone, text message, and on the official website.

2.) Competitors who hit the big time. Fifteen seasons of "Idol" have left their mark on our culture. Some of the music industry's most popular performers came out of the "Idol" reality TV boot camp, most notably Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Rocker Chris Daughtry and actor Jennifer Hudson did not made it to the final round, but both have had great success in their performing careers nonetheless. Also notable is Adam Lambert, who has seen success both as a solo artist and as a replacement for the late Freddie Mercury in the group Queen. A reboot will no doubt provide us with plenty other talented, chart-topping artists.

Just watched Entertainment Tonight. They mentioned possible judges for the American Idol revival, Kelly Clarkson, second Adam Lambert. Yeah Adam, wouldn't that be awesome.

This performance is the original 'tooooo looove' first one, the best one! The contestants provide very good harmony and Adam coming back to drive the last nail into the coffin, kills it dramatically. Only Adam could do that, the drama needs that voice and power.
Well, Simon finally stood up to acknowledge his protege, which he couldn't at the infamous S8 AI results finale.

So a return to his roots, AI in 2018, as a full-fledged judge. He'll definitely give it that potential feel of success needed to float the sunken vessel from the depth of the ocean. In reality, he played a major role in sinking the ship. I did say many years ago, if he can break it, he will be able to put it back.
Still, he may not be able to better his own unsuspected Superstar outcome...or perhaps like Double 07 would say...You Only Live Twice.
Well, Good luck Double 08! lwl!

I think American Idol needs someone from the record industry to be a judge as well as an Idol alum & perhaps a well-known recording artist who's been in the business for a good while. It'll be interesting to see who's chosen & it'll also be interesting to see if American Idol on another network is the huge success they're wanting.
