As glitzylady posted on June 2nd, Adam Lambert recorded, "These Are Your Rights," a track written by Broadway composers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez for the Barack & Michelle Obama-produced television special, We The People, premiering this Sunday, July 4th on Netflix.

Well, the good folks at Netflix decided to post on their YouTube account an advanced preview of just two of the show's segments and, aren't we lucky, one happens to be Adam's..!!  (A second, separate video is of rapper/singer Cordae's "Taxes.")  Adam's video is below, after which you will find a lyric video that YouTube user Soul Music kindly created (thank you!).

It truly is a wonderful song — ENJOY!

Apologies if I offend anyone, but Adam's segment really drives home the injustice certain people in this country are committing right now against The Bill Of Rights, against The Constitution, against the democratic principles of our nation and the reasons our country was created in the first place. I truly hope Adam's segment and some or all of the other segments on this special help to drive that point home and reach at least some people to reflect and reconsider their positions.

Great idea to get the message across

Amen, Broddybounce. I'm afraid your optimism is greater than mine, though. I can't believe how divided our country has become...and so much anger! TRUTH has been discarded as an inconvenience, and half the country belongs to a cult! It breaks my heart. What happened to the democracy we were so proud to display to the world?

I love you broddy and appreciate all you do here, but, please take back your apology for speaking with optimism and decency with conviction. We have been mercilessly trampled on by the far right with nothing but contempt for longer than we recognize. I'm not an activist but I am a cheerleader for decency and rule of law as our Constitution lays it out. I refuse to apologize for that.

I'm with you 100000%, broddy! Our current society is in a very warped condition right now. I am quite sure that our founding fathers would be appalled at how our precious rights are being mis-used. We are in an age of extremes, where no one wants to meet in the middle. At least some don't want to. I love Adam's segment with the Bill of Rights. I hope it gets played and viewed a lot and get used in schools and elsewhere. I am so happy he got involved in this project. One good thing often leads to another.

Well, THANK YOU, Angeladam, Nanbert, Patria and Dee — I really appreciate your support of what I said above, and your full concurrence! It means so much.

AND ... I just updated this post again with brand-new art from Creative Sharka! Yes, already! She's done it again!

I got side-tracked with the MESSAGE of Adam's performance, and forgot to comment here also on his rendition. "These Are Your Rights" has to be a VERY difficult song to sing, but Adam gave it life, clarity, and intensity.... as only he can do. I'm constantly astounded at the control he has over his superb "instrument"! How fitting that he was given that song by the Obamas!

I am sorry that we can not see him sing it in person, but there's no doubt that the lyrics of the song needed to be displayed even more.

And Sharka's new picture is perfect, as usual. She is a genius. She always catches the essence of Adam. She's got great instincts.

I totally agree with all on this post. If we do not speak up for democracy and our rights they will disappear. That is what the cult of DT and the so called republican party ( most of it) are trying to accomplished ( another DT cult). Trying to make it extremely hard to vote for disabled people ect, ect. That seems to be the only way they can be elected.
Here a novel idea try changing your policies for the good instead of doing nothing but spreading BS and trying to eliminate alot of voting rights and fighting against every decent thing president Biden is trying to do The cult of Donald Trump is not a joke any more most of them are criminals and I think we all know the many other names they have so richly earned and they are really horrible titles. If I offend any person I just do not believe it is right to apologize. Like Adam we must voice our disgust at what is going on in Washington and many states. Broddy and Patricia thank you for your opinion. I am not saying there are not a few decent republicans in Washington. But, sorry they are in the minority now. If you do the right thing you get voted out of that party. Going to listen to Adam's song now. My husbands had more trips to the hospital that is the reason I have not been on here lately.

I meant to put a period after what President Biden trying to do.

Dee R Gee said...

Good to hear from you again, Sue! It's been a while. Adam's new song has got us all thinking about the value of our Constitution and how we have to know our rights. I keep listening to the song and I just marvel at how perfectly Adam sings it.

Sue Smith said...

Wow,that was amaizing. THESE ARE YOUR Right. Adam did a wonderful job.

Sue Smith said...

Sorry I did not see it. Thanks Dee R Gee. It has been one thing after the other.

Nanbert said...

Sue, good to hear from you. Sorry you and your husband are having more health problems. Hope things start looking up soon. This anxiety about our country doesn't help either, does it?

Sue Smith said...

Thanks, Nanbert no it does not help at all.

broddybounce said...

Thanks Sue — and thank you for your extremely spot-on comments of your own! You couldn't be more true on that.

Wishing you a happy 4th, and the best of health for you and your husband.

Nanbert said...

It's here NOW....HAPPY 4TH, everyone! Have to admit that this is the first time that I've actually focused with such intensity on WHY we are celebrating.

It's not just an excuse to have parades and fireworks, but a reminder to be proud of our democracy, "take stock" of its current health, and make plans for how to strengthen it.

Democracy is a work in progress...not to be taken for granted. Right now it's on really shaky ground!

Thank you Broddy and Happy 4th to you as well. Thank you for all you post here. Thank to all that post here for our Adam for so long.
The longer post I posted should have had more periods ect in it. But, when I get a bee in my bonnet(think most of the older ones on here know what that means) I often mess up on that.

It's OK Sue...most of us are guilty of that too😉

Don't worry Sue! There are no Punctuation Police around here. Or Comma Cops. Or Spelling Snobs. We're just here to share what we have to say.

BTW, just heard that the Andrew Lloyd Webber soundtrack of Cinderella is being released this Friday, the 9th! They delayed it months ago, but now it's coming! Adam has a song on the soundtrack. Can't wait to hear it!

Nanbert said...

Thanks for the heads-up, Dee R Gee. Hope to hear it soon...finally!

Sue Smith said...

Thank you Lori and Dee R Gee. Good thing there is no police like that on here I would probably be the biggest offender on here. I also badly want to hear that Andrew Lloyd Webber album with Adam song sang by him on it.

Nanbert said...

Oh my! I'm SO looking forward to the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Adam Lambert opus....but I will be away from my computer until mid-month...and will have to play catch-up here when I get back.

I agree with everyone’s comments here, so there’s nothing else for me to add. I too am excited to hear Adam’s other new song from the Cinderella album. :))

Patria said...

Thanx for the heads up Nanbert. Whatever is happening in your life, take care and hopefully have a good time. (I'm thinking you're going to visit family. Not my business but you know we're going to speculate. lol)

A bit of this and that: That LGBT telethon on August 14 should be fun. Adam will be in good company. I hope he is in it for more than just a song or something. We'll see. Also, the film for that "Cover Bands" show starts the first week in August. Adam should have a good time as a judge on that. And then the British LGB% Awards are on August 27. I wonder if Adam will have something to do with that? Hope so!

Just stumbled upon some info about Adam's songs on the Cinderella album. His solo song is called "The Vanquishing of the Three-Headed Sea Witch" (which sounds very "Adam") and the other two songs he sings with a chorus, called "Man's Man Reprise" and "The Wedding Party." Sounding like fun to me!

Hey you guys I just heard Adam’s new song “ The Vanquishing of The Three Headed Sea Witch” on YouTube. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s YouTube channel. It’s just fantastic and his vocals here are on fire! Amazing Adam! Broddy or Glitzylady you can now post this new song since it’s out now. :))

Adam's got a musical theater voice that is has good as anybody's out there. Great to hear him use it! Still hoping that he gets to do a live theater role sometime.

The Witch song is really wicked!

Sir Andrew says that Adam's song "sadly is no longer in the show" So we will hear this song from Adam's recording only

Sir Andrew continues saying "but never mind about that"
'never mind' my axx

Dee R Gee said...

Yes, that is sad news. But Adam wouldn't have been singing it in the actual show anyway. We can still enjoy that great song on the soundtrack. Love how Adam puts his whole personality into it. Really like the "Man's Man" song, too. Really clever lyrics so suited for Adam.

Sunflower said...

It’s too bad Adam’s song will not be included in the play but good we have his recording to listen and watch too.

Yes Patria and Dee R Gee it is sad but many Glamberts on Twitter were saying “it’s probably because no one else can sing the song”. It has a lot of words but Adam tackled them. No one else can top Adam! No One!

Here’s some more happy news, the director to “Playmobile” Lino DiSalvo responded to a tweet from a Glambert saying that she would love to see a future project with Lino and Adam. He responded with a GIF of a little girl smiling devilishly and Lino’s caption comment “ it’s in the works”. See there another project for us to look forward too. YAY for us there’s more of Adam to come!

Shoshana had said a while back “Your guys are going to lose your s—-(I omitted the next 3 letters) when we start unfolding the musical (Adam’s) But we aren’t ready yet so gonna be a bit more of a wait”.

Sunflower said...

So that’s that Glamily! I think we have been and still getting spoiled! :))

Dee R Gee said...

Lino adores Adam! Can't wait to see what he and Adam are working on together.

I think Adam's Sea Witch song was omitted from the final show because it probably doesn't fit well with the momentum of the story line. It's a great song, full of clever lyrics and great melody. But my guess is that just wouldn't keep the flow going. It's a complicated song and may seem a bit out of place in the story. JUST GUESSING, of course!

broddybounce said...

Just posted Cinderella! Sorry, guys, neither glitzy nor I could get to this any sooner today — but thanks everybody for contributing above, really appreciate it!

Sunflower said...

Thanks broddy it’s still appreciated! Actually there’s pictures you posted that I didn’t see before so new for me. So much excitement! Hehe
I like your guess Dee R Gee on Adam’s song not in the play, works for me.

Patria said...

Sunflower, we are being spoiled with all the 'this and that' popping up. I'm loving it.

Dee, I like your guess about Adam's song being deleted too. It may have been the conclusion of more than one difficulty that has arisen. So glad he is on the album, with pics.

Dee R Gee said...

Don't worry, broddy. We appreciate everything you do. We all have real lives. LOL There are good people here to pick up the slack now and then.

broddybounce said...

Thanks,guys! ☺️

Adding one last note here for those of you who have posted above about Cinderella but who haven't posted yet on the Cinderella post itself, just to make sure that this is seen by everybody...

I just added a video from Gelly onto the Cinderella post that compiles all of Adam's social media posts about it, as well as Andrew Lloyd Webber's comment about Adam that he posted on his IG (it's part complimentary and part off-putting). I know there are a few of you not on social media so Gelly's nice compilation video will let you see it all.

Nanbert said...

Well, Adam's song is probably no longer in the show because it's too darn difficult for anyone else to sing besides Adam. That ".....Sea Witch" song was a tour-de-force! It showed up some more power and darkness in Adam's lower register, too.

As fantastic as Adam is with impossible music, I'd love to hear him sing some gloriously sad, uplifting, heartbreaking, and otherwise stirring music that will let his voice soar and tear us to pieces! A few old-fashioned love songs would be nice, too.
