Grace Slick on Adam Lambert

What Grace Slick thinks of today's stars:

She keeps her ear to the music scene today and follows what keeps her interest.

On "American Idol": "I don’t understand why Adam Lambert didn’t win. He is a stunning entertainer."

On Celine Dion: “She has a spectacular instrument.”

On Lady Gaga: “Right in your face, a real good singer and piano player. I like what Madonna did, changing her image all the time and pushing the envelope, she did some interesting videos, but Lady Gaga is a much better singer.”

On Britany Spears: "I don’t even understand her. What is that? Why did people go for that? God bless her and the people who buy her records but I don’t understand it. Then people don’t understand me, either."

Wow this never occurred to me until I saw this article , but I would ADORE hearing Adam cover "Someone to Love."
He is one of the few people who could rock it as much as Grace.

She obviously likes Gaga more than Adam Lambert..

1:54, I didn't get that at all about her preferring gaga over adam. She is making quick comments and really made positive comments except for Britney.

I've had enough of Gaga. I swear I'm going to burst.

Gaga is shock. Adam is substance. Everyone should be so over Britany.

Gaga doesn't shock anybody anymore. She's so boring she desperately decided she'll bring corpses to her show. Which isn't going to be shocking unless the corpses are real.

Anyway, saw pics of drag queens who played Celine Dion (My heart will go on) and Lady Gaga (beer cans in the hair), it looked hilarious.

Keep the pledge Fanberts!! No negs about Lady Gaga. He loves her, is inspired by her and they are NOT in some sort of Pop competition. They are delightfully different and both amazing. Positive vibes on this terrific site only!! Love 24/7 and all who play here!!!

I agree. No need to hate on Gaga. she's a talented woman who deserves her success and she's a huge supporter of gay rights.

Adam loves her and I LOVE HER. She's an amazing woman.

So, not even news or joking about Gaga. Only praises.

I love gaga personally. I think she's broken a barrier for many artists like Adam. but I still prefer Adam to any other singers.

Another smart woman "of a certain age" who appreciates Adam's talent...

I don't mind some of Gaga's music but I absolutely adore Adam and his music. I just cannot get enough of his fabulous voice. IMO Adam is also playing the fame game a lot smarter than Gaga. Adam has his OTT stage persona but off stage he transforms back to his normal sweet-natured self. He has even come out after shows to meet with fans freshly showered, sans make-up and wearing comfy clothes. Adam's fans accept and expect this and actually love to see him in off-the-clock mode. On the other hand, Gaga seems to have created a situation where the public expects her to be Gaga all the time. Not a good thing, in my opinion. Perhaps a fast track to burn-out.

Relax,anon5;31 No need to nitpick. Nothing hateful about Gaga, or bad language. People should still be able to voice an opinion without being reprimanded. If everyone always agreed life would be boring. It never hurts to get a different opinion.

I think Madonna opened the door for Gaga, but Gaga kicked it open the rest of the way, and broke the handle off in the process! I never thought I would see such "performance art" accepted by the mainstream. She's like Madonna and Marilyn Manson all rolled into one. Shocking you, while throwing sex in your face. I think she's great, because she pushes the envelope...but then, I'm in the fashion business, so to see someone wearing such "extreme fashions" excites the hell out of me! I love her bravery.

But then there's Adam. He's in a league of his own. He pushes the envelope as well, but (as 7:18 commented) he is so "real" off stage. That's why he's so FUN! He's such an entertainer, yet you can relate to him as a "nice guy". I love that he can take his personas on and off. He's genius! And sparkly. And fun. AND talented. He's the whole ball-of-wax...someone you'd want to take home to mama.

Grace Slick put the rock in starship and airplane. Haven't heard if she still performs, but loved her voice and she knows what she's talking about. Lady Gaga has a beautiful voice, "Speechless" being a favorite, but the gimmicks lose their effectiveness over time and sometimes doesn't work. Christina Aguilara went to extremes and it didn't work, but her voice kept her in the game. Adam isn't outrageous, he's flambouyant and theatrical, but it just makes him more exciting to watch. When he's offstage he's like the rest of us and he's authentic. It's what sets him apart and keeps it real. Grace sees he's the real deal. funbunn40

I LOVE Grace and that she gets it about Adam and is willing to tell the world. I've always wanted to hear Adam sing "Somebody to Love" & "White Rabbit" (and every other classic you can think of!)

To those of you who don't know who she is, search out "White Rabbit" and "Somebody to Love" on youtube. Awesome.

Agree - White Rabbit and Somebody to Love = totally awesome. And if Adam were to do a version of one/both? Almost unbearably awesome.
