i don't agree with 3 stars, adam is worth more than that 4 1/2 stars, YES!

I knew the reviewer was a guy before I scrolled up to catch HIS name. Most men simply do not get Adam. Many men do not take Adam any more seriously than they do the legions of females who are his fans. Mr.Walters obviously has never gone to a GNT concert, does not understand the New Orleans steam punk concept behind the fabulous costumes, nor get how well-conceived this concert was by Adam himself. Maybe he should have done some homework prior to penning this half-baked review.

Reviewer gets * out of ***** from me.

What happened to ROLLING STONE? They relied on Adam to sell millions of copies of his cover issue.....and 3 stars is all they're giving him? I assume this is out of 5 stars.

I canceled my subscription of the magazine a few months ago and I'm glad I did.

Haven't seen or heard the Simon & Garfunkel 5* piece but how in the world could Simon & Garfunkel be more exciting than the extravaganza & audience excitement of the GNT? Did the critic have Adams cane up his A.. when he wrote this??

What a F*******this review about?!
You know, ladies, I don't like to use this word very often but this is only word I can use to comment thie post. F***** Rolling Stones for three stars, also.
Thank, Kentucky Fan. You said exactly what I would like to say

As much as I love, adore and obsess over Adam, you simply cannot compare Simon and Garfunkel to Adam. S&G's reissue is of one of the best selling and most loved albums of all time. A reissue with a bonus DVD is simple built of nostalgia, rock and roll history.

Adam is a new kid on the block. Granted, he sold them a ton of magazines last year. And for a few months was mentioned or pictured every month. And true , lately they have not even had musicians on the cover ( Snookie, Howard Stern ).

I didn't expect a better review from them of the CD/DVD. I expected worse actually. So, now I'm not disappointed. For better reviews, go to popeater, and others.

On a different topic, I'm curious what you all think about the Chris Brown incident on Good Morning America today. I read that Brown got agitated, performed only one of two scheduled songs, and smashed his dressing room window with a chair. Yet ABC is still planning to have him perform on Dancing with the Stars next week. WTF???

krismidas

Anonymous said...

Go to ABC.com, and complain. I did already. I asked them to put Adam on instead.

How ironic, they replaced Adam with Brown when he got booted from GMA after the AMA's.

Tit for tat as it were.

I also said that if they do not cancel him for his aggressive and violent behavior it is tantamount to telling people it is OK to do whatever you want and be rewarded.

Google Chris Brown and find out everything he did today. In a nutshell, got pissed during interview incomplete performance, stormed off, trashed his dressing room, threw his chair at the window, shattered it onto the busy New York street below, scared the makeup and wardrobe people, they called security, he was aggressive with execs, ripped off his shirt, and stormed out into the street shirtless and menacing looking. Pictures on line. = THUG

Anonymous said...

@8:46 Thanks for your suggestion to complain to ABC.com. I am going to do just that right now.

WWWHaaat the F????? What an insult! His singing seems barely live??? Comes across like an actor playing a rocker>???? WTF???

Ok, can anyone tell I'm pissed? Thank goodness even this blind - deaf fool reviewer couldn't help but notice and mention Adam's "charisma and considerable chops"... Ya think??

Thank you Kentucky Fan & Liva... (and those who agree) and I admire your kind & controlled statements that still got the point across. I guess I'm not that nice, lol

Rolling Stone used to be the ICONIC God of Rock Magazines... they're rapidly loosing my faith & respect.
At least they HAD the good sense to put Adam on the cover when they did.

I told ya - read this last week and have only slowly cooled off. It's not the 3 stars that irks me, it's the "lingering staginess" comment, like that cover shot in their magazine wasn't purposefully stagey, like their own caption, "Wild Idol" didn't give them a clue to his authenticity. It screams back to Simon's comment about complaining about mooing from a cow .... Adam Lambert put on an actual SHOW!! How shocking!!!

Anonymous said...

Has anybody here ever been able to send RS an e-mail? I have tried so many times. Their website is way too hard to navigate.

Please keep sending messages to abc.com it's really easy.

I'm afraid that RS is not the magazine it used to be. They will never accept Adam. He made a good cover because of the "scandal" of coming out. Of nearly winning Idol and being gay. I'm frankly surprised they didn't have a picture of him with Sauli on the jet-ski's in Bora Bora. It wouldn't be about music, it would again be about gay.

I'm the same poster from 8:46

Anonymous said...

Would someone please explain the "prerecorded backgrounds" that the Rolling Stones reporter is talking about. I went to a bunch of Adam's concerts, and I don't have a clue!!! Could he be talking about the FYE that played prior to Adam taking the stage??? Everything was live!! WTF is he talking about.

Anonymous said...

OK, I'm 9:25. I have the CD but haven't watched it. Maybe they over produced it like they did everything else.

Anonymous said...

Well. I have to admit I'm a bit upset and taken aback by this review like many of you.
What bothers me is not just the three stars, the description also seems rather bizarre and off-putting.
First of all, the writer of the so-called review needs to get their facts straight. Everyone (or at least the fans and everyone who does their job like they are supposed to, by doing research) knows that Adam was never on Broadway, nor is he singing any musical theater numbers during his concert. So why the Broadway reference? Surely there are more accurate ways of describing Adam's performance style...the Broadway reference is lazy and too specific for the purposes of this concert I think.
Next, how on earth is Adam coming off as an actor playing a rocker when he is actually performing/singing rock music?
He IS and has always been a singer (and a great one at that) so I don't get the acting reference either. I mean how much more "real" can it get?
Can it only be real if it's some old straight dude singing?
This isn't a Broadway musical or a movie, it is his concert with him singing HIS music LIVE.
Yes he performs in a theatrical way but that doesn't mean he is putting up a facade and trying to act like a "rocker." These lame, stereotypical and overly-simplistic categorizations denote the incompetence of the reviewer and his lack of knowledge of true vocal skills (anyone with just the slightest musical knowledge can tell you that rock music suites Adam's high voice perfectly and he has the technique to back it up; they can also tell you almost immediately whether someone is singing live or is lip-syncing...clearly this person wasn't paying attention when watching the concert).
Just sayin.

coloforadam said...

Careful responding to RS - They expect us to get all defensive and outraged. Think about how it reflects on Adam and if it helps or hurts him.

glitzylady said...

I really don't think Rolling Stone as a group actually "gets" Adam, in all of his uniqueness. And this guy who reviewed the concert DVD certainly didn't quite get him either, although he did acknowledge his talent and charisma. His review was confusing.. I guess I'm glad they gave him 3 stars..but I really think it should have been at least a 4 star gig. (I asked my Adam fan hubby his opinion on this..he tends to be slightly more objective than I do..and he has been to 3 GNT concerts, including once in the front row, thoroughly enjoying Adam himself, so he knows of what he speaks, and he said he thought at LEAST 4 out of 5 stars..,without first knowing what this rating was...) In all fairness, it wasn't as lavish as a Lady Gaga concert or a U2 production, but Adam had a FAR more limited budget and really did an outstanding job putting it all together. I suppose I would not have gone to 6 GNT's myself, 4 of them far from home, (speaking of spending some serious time and money) if he hadn't put on a pretty fabulous show..It was a whole lot more successful than many tours last year. And to be somewhat vaguely critical of his theatricality ("lingering staginess" "..an actor playing a rocker")..well good god!! Here we go again...That is precisely part of what makes him so special, in addition to his unbelievable voice range, control, always on pitch, non-autotuned, AND (very important here...) he does not lip-sync his concerts...The fact that "his singing sounds barely live" (you..are...kidding me....right???) in the opinion of the reviewer, should not in reality be construed as a criticism, but proof of his ability to deliver a fabulous and perfect performance nearly every time he opens his mouth to sing. I don't think its a bad review, just one that doesn't really seem to quite get the concept: "close but no cigar". In reality, Adam's tour was a combo: music concert with a little theater/musical thrown in..not such a bad idea in my book. Just glad they are at least acknowledging his existence again, and saying, "Hey, he did a pretty good job". We'll see where they take it from here.

RS hasnt been a fan of Adams since he said something about the article they wrote on him that it wasnt quite accurate and that they took artistic license with his interview. He said he never told them that he saw AI in the sky (re-read the RS cover story). Seems they havent been a fan since then. Seems they got their panties in a knot!!!

Anonymous said...

I agree. RS been pissed since he commented on that article as being inaccurate.

Obviously the critic has his opinion, which I don't agree with. Like Adam said, he is not for everyone and we know that those people are really missing out on a great voice and performer. We get him and I'm glad Adam is there for our entertainment. Go Adam!

I think Adam had a chance to "put on a show" and he did. I think he has learned a lot, mostly that he wants to stick around a long while and grow. I think the OTT show was a one and only. He's gonna go another way, just as good or better
and I hope I'm around to see it. I think of him as a sweet boy but he's really a special young man and my offer stands, if you ever need a Florida grandma, I'm first in line.

Adam has pre-recorded background vocals on GNT. Monte and (perhaps Cam) is doing background vocals too. But to say that it sounds barely live is big BS. This is a review from a straight man with issues and a closed mind. I have seen exactly this kind of review after GNT here in Stockholm so I´m not surprised. Not every man is as brave and open minded as Ronnie.

I think it irked them. Just my gut pov.

The part I can't believe in this RS article is when they said it seems he is barely singing live. Did The reviewer listen to all the acoustic parts of the show? Adam is one of few singers that does not use autotune or lipsyncing. Anyway most all other reviews have been real positive. Adam made them lots of money when he was on their front cover didn't he.

Anonymous said...

Who is B.W.? People who do reviews need to use their whole names not just initials.

His opinion re: "his singing seems barely live" is ludicrous. I stood at the stages edge at one GNT and I'd love to tell BW, it was very LIVE and not pre-recorded! He must be thinking about Taylor Swift or Brit Spears but seriously, not Adam.

I'm not sure this was a fair review and BW seems to have an ax to grind. What happened to RS? Lying in a review to make the magazine seem edgy is not the way to go.

Besides...I know he didn't listen to the CD. I just listened to it with ear phones and Adam's vocals are right there in your ear...very, very LIVE so, he didn't really watch or listen to the entire package. I'd venture to say, he only watched a few songs on the DVD as well.

Anonymous said...

I am a huge fan of Adam's voice, but I do agree with this review that from time to time Adam seems to be acting more than being himself.

Remember guys, when someone comes along who is different, even in the best possible ways, there will be some reviewers that aren't on-board initially. Elvis, Michael Jackson, and other greats got mixed reviews for some of what they did, especially early on before they were widely appreciated. Over all, this isn't a bad review - the author clearly sees Adam's considerable talent and charisma. Building a wide, positive reputation in the entertainment industry takes time....

Clearly they didn't attend or view the International Glam Nation concerts. All Glam Nations were awesome but certainly the DVD covered a toned down for the US viewing audience. Sure hope Adam doesn't over tone and lose the unfiltered glitz and glammer simply to keep the US happy!

Adam was on a sold out edition of the Rolling Stone magazine, and beautiful beyond words it was. So what's with this guff. Don't they recognize a Star when they encounter one? Obviously thier loss.

Give Mr Lambert the budget he deserves and Rolling Stone will soon change their tune.
It's coming!

Rolling Stone Panned Freddy Mercury / Queen among others. I believe they gave Freddy a 2 out of 5.What do they know.. Look who they give high grades to and then decide if they know WTF they are talking about. I gave up on RS,when they stopped covering ADAM.

Anonymous said...

I don't read RS, but I suppose it represents the popular culture and less about pop and rock music. That's why they cover Snooki etc. The editors don't either like or they don't know about glam rock. Glam rock is timeless. These editors are stuck in the 60's. I thought US had hair metal bands. Did they even cover them?

Anonymous said...

I give Adam all the stars in the sky!
It doesn't matter what this reviewer says he's ONE person as long as we love him it's all that matters!

Glamitup said...

This is just one guys review of the dvd. Although he is completely WRONG (totally 5 stars), I don't think much of it. As for Adam replacing Chris B.,that would be awesome. It's too bad that he is still hanging around and not taking the help that has been offered to him and try to work on being a better person. Adam is so the opposite of him and deserves a chance on these shows! I would love for Adam to perform on Dancing!!! Can you imagine if Adam was a contestant? omg, I would die!!! Although Dancing With the Stars is supposedly for the "D" list and we know that our guy is A,A,A all the way!!! Love him!!

Anonymous said...

I'm happy that Adam's DVD was mentioned in rolling stone and I also think that they are bang on. I love Adam so very much, but he "is" theatrical. That's simply what he is and has been so far. One simply cannot fake or act rock and roll. You either are or you're not and I agree that his amazing vocals make up for any authentic rock star that he portrays, acts out or tries to be. Adam is unique and I'm really, really happy that he's getting mentioned and noticed. I think slowly, over time, he will gain the respect that he deserves and I do hope that the Glamberts learn to relaxe a little bit. The general music industry, non-Glambert fans and the like are "not" going to become Adam Lambert fans because the Glamberts insist they should be, and get angry and hostile every time Adam doesn't get a five star rating. Actually quite the opposite. You will turn people off by shoving a celebrity in their face and even more so if they're sickened by what they will only consider your rediculous obsession. Step back a little and let Adam's music get out there. I already hear it more and more and have become much more confident and comfortable lately just knowing that yes, Adam has made it. Us loyal fans will continue to support and love him but "he" has to prove to the music industry that he deserves recognition. If they see certain flaws or weakness in his approach or performance, then he has to decide if he wants to change that because him and his fans may very well be happy with his performance being exactly what it is. You cannot please everyone. He is an artist and he will appeal to some and not to others. That's just the way it is. Shoving him in other peoples face and demanding that they "must love Adam's music" or there's something wrong with their ears, is just pointless. The affect he has on his fans remains a phenomenon and we love him madly. But to continually lash out at people every time Adam doesn't get the highest rating, is just, well, negative and silly in my opinion.

Anonymous said...

immma shamed of myself, but more ashamed for the critic.

Anonymous said...

@Anon 10:36
I'm huge Adam fan, but I agree with you. Shoving Adam into other people throats is not doing him any favor. His BSC fans do not realize that RS is not bothering with reviewing EVERY album (or DVD), so the fact that they decided to review his CD and gave him 3 stars speaks for itself. Do you read RS magazine? Not everybody gets even that.
Adam is not perfect, but he is VERY talented and a fast learner. Constructive criticism is good.
I am expecting great things from him in the future.

adamluv said...

@MGF, a "hi" right back at you. And thanks for noticing my absence a week or so ago in an old thread. And to the "acting" remark - other than the artists who sit on a stool and strum a guitar, all singers are acting to some degree while performing on a stage. No one doubts their authenticity, why doubt Adams? . . . Adamluv

Anonymous said...

Reviewers look at the same type of singing and peformance in two different artist. They will criticize the performance for one artist and completely praise the exact same style and performance for the other artist. Go figure. Somehow I don't think RS criticizes GaGa for being theatrical, etc. The reviewers pick and choose what they say about whom, even when the reviews contradict themselve. This is just one review. It won't make or break Adam. RS lost credibility for me long ago anyway.

Anonymous said...

Three stars is still good. I suppose Simon and Garfunkel have an iconic status.

Anonymous said...

Of course Adam is acting. He has told us that all along. What you see on stage is an extremely exaggerated version of everything. He's a performer. Just look at that cute smile at the end of most performances, and you'll know when he's putting on a show for us. He is not a rocker, and I'm not sure at this stage in his career, he even knows exactly where he fits or the direction he wants to travel musically. We can see that in what he says about his new album. It's all good. He is evolving, and I look forward to what his talent and imagination bring. I think 3/5 stars next to S & G's 5/5 is excellent. Those boys have been around 40 years and are true genius icons. Their music is truly classic, and their originality has/will never be duplicated. Adam fans, cut RS some slack. Thank them for their nice review instead of slamming. You generally get more with honey--ask Adam.

The Dark Side said...

I thought this particular GNT was a little strained at times. Adam was just hitting his stride about then and went for the gold by the time he went international. Also had to be a little stressful, knowing it was being videoed for release. Still loved it in it's entirety. RS always leans on the downward side of reviews, so take it for what its worth. BTW, I also jump when Adam yells jump!

Anonymous said...

WTF...all singers put on an act when they sing...it's part of the performance....should they just stand still and look like a friggin statue????

Anonymous said...

Hey, three stars from RS is pretty good props. Like it or not, they're still the big dogs in the music review world. I'm sure Adam is not disappointed with the review. He's just at the beginning of his career. The best is yet to come!

Anonymous said...

The Indianapolis GNT was pretty tame compared to many of the other venues. It had to be, because it was going to be marketed to a wide audience. Truthfully, I thought some of the other venues had better flow and were a lot sexier, which I like. Although I saw them all and LOVED them all, this one wasn't my absolute favorite. But a reviewer certainly hasn't seen them all, so they have to go by what they know.

Anonymous said...

Adam's life before Idol was the stage, so it will be part of him. He gave us a show on Idol, and we loved it. He does just stand or sit for some songs, and pours his heart out while singing. He has said over and over a song has a story.
This is an Adam site, therefore we make comments here about Adam. I, for one, do not go to other sites to try to shove Adam down anyones throat. I think most of us feel Adam is not given the same breaks as other artist.
I do feel, however, people are becoming more open minded, which is a very good thing indeed.
P.A.S.

Anonymous said...

I, for one, know in my heart that Adam will not be a short-lived, popular talent. He will grow gradually and will gather fans and fame over time. That's the way to maintain his integrity and keep him with us for the long haul. He will grow into so many other facets of performing.

Anonymous said...

Adam whips his fans into a frenzy of excitement and we love every minute of it! But that's just the joy of being his fan. Understanding that not everyone gets to experience that is hard to understand sometimes, I know, but like religion, trying to shove the love down someones throat is just not going to work and you will appear as nothing more than a crazy fanatic. That's all I was trying to say. Lately though, I've been able to step back and realize that, that is exactly what I was doing without even realizing it and in doing so, did more harm than good in promoting my love for Adam Lambert. Thankfully I do have my fellow Glambert Fans to talk and share my love, joy and excitement with. But yeah, it sort of has been like crazy, mad, teenage love that is now slowly starting to grow and mature. Not sure how else to describe it, but I am much more confident and secure about where Adam sits and reigns in the music industry now. I think he is and has done very well and I will continue to support him, wish him well and certainly look forward to his new music and I don't feel like I constantly have to go all frantic and defensive anymore every time his name is mentioned. He is a true artist and he is maturing and should feel confident enough to know that his fans will continue to support him as he slowly grows, changes and evolves.
Much love y'all...

I am and forever will be a fan of Adam and I didn't think it was a bad review. It did begin with prerecorded music, then Adam in "Broadway type" costume sort of rushed thru first songs, when the coat and hat came off it settled in to let him show his talent...in a spectacular way.

Be fair, he does "act" his songs...we like it.
They didn't, that's their job they give their opinion and boy do we give ours. The many costumes and choregraphed dancing was again more like a show than a concert. Female stars can get away with this, male rarely do. Double standard, you bet.

Three stars out of five your first time out, that's pretty good. They felt his charisma and heard his "chops". Don't feel bad.

He has his thinking cap on and the next tour will knock their socks off!!!!!!!!!!!JM

Adam is not a rock star, he's a great singer who can sing rock and everything else. I knew a lot of the "hair band" guys in the 70's and 80's, I was a "roadie". Traveled with some of the biggest. They were mostly drunks who threw up on themselves, trashed rooms, performed HIGH,picked out the girls they wanted backstage like they were picking out a tie. Which none of them wore.

It was a depressing life, don't wish that on Adam. Fortunately those bad "good old days" are mostly over. This kid will be alright he may have

done a few drugs growing up in LA for the last 10 years but he hasn't fried his brain. CL

Three stars from RS is pretty good, considering they seem to be rock snobs. If they had no visuals of Adam and had only heard him sing WLL, 20th CB,etc. with no knowledge of AI predjudices, I think they would think he was the ultimate rocker. Everyone wants to label Adam and put him in a box and they don't know what to do with him because he is so multi-talented and can sing any genre so authentically. They expect artists to be one dimensional and Adam can't be caged. Eventually the world will get it. funbunn40

I wouldn't even give him one star. Ok fine he's a gay man, but I don't wanna seem em doing one on stage, get a room please!! Maybe that's the reason they put him in a box, and as for all you women chasing after him, he don't want you, except maybe your money and your support. Wake up and smell the roses. Don't belive me, then answer this, how many of you are buying 10 or more CD's of his? I know because I've read some of the blogs here. Anyone in his/her right mind can read the writing on the blog, and know he's the way out, Goodbye Adam... As for you married women I feel sorry for your husbands out there!! Maybe in a year you'll all wake up, if not, we might be reviewing five star divorces, and lawyers taking away some more of Adams would be funding.

@3:27 AM!!

Adam is not after women´s money. Of course he must get his payment of the great job he does. But he does not think women as just money machines to his highness. No!!! Everybody here knows he is a gay man. We ladies do not get Adam as a husband (except in our fantasies..)

Our husbands and boyfriends mostly think Adam is great. That´s why they are not jealous and secondly because he is gay. What divorces?!? Because of Adam. Come on!!!

I don´t need your fucking roses by the way!!!
