American Idol Insider: "Adam Lambert is the show producers' top contender."

VIA Yahoo's latest article on American Idol Judges:

Clarkson has been floated as a candidate since the news broke in May that "Idol" was looking for a panel of alums for Season 13. Both insiders confirm that she has been contacted by the show to gauge her interest, though her reps confirmed again on Tuesday that "Kelly is not doing 'Idol.'"

We also hear that Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken, two other names floated as possible former contenders-turned-judges, have not recieved offers. Though one of the individuals we talked to said that if the show actually moves forward on an all-alum panel, then Lambert is the show producers' top contender.

About friggin time they stopped putting people the public don't want to see and put Lambert on the show.

They mean between Adam and Clay and only if they went with an all alum panel. Which doesn't seem likely since Kelly has said no.

There are other alum that would do well besides KC like her but far from my favorite of the show, female species.

They are going to play with Adam for a while and the choose someone else, just like they did last year.

It's never about what the people want. Or more precisely what those active ones who have chosen to vote want.

Adam!!! DO NOT DO IT!!!! Just don't!!!! Put out more videos!!!

They need a big enough name like Kelly or Carrie to have an all alum panel. And if neither of them will do it then I don't see it happening.

I hope they try all Alum. It's got a good shot at working. The show is dying with their overpriced egotistic picks. If the show dies all Alum, it would be the best last season way to go.

3.17 I am with you, we would all like more videos. Unfortunatley they cost money so I guess the Idol gig would help financially.
I would love to see Adam every week on my TV, not sure though if I would like all the flack he will have to take as we know there are always nasty people ready to spew their venom.
Some one said a way back if you cant say something nice, say nothing, there is a lot of truth in that. don't you think?

It's good for Adam that he is part of the press cycle on this and is being considered. There is nothing bad about it. They aren't "playing him".

for those who don't think Adam is a big enough name or draw, see whose name they put in all the headlines for the Fword campaign. he is a draw to whatever is being promoted. otherwise it would not keep happening

YES, YES, YES Idol producers, MAKE THIS HAPPEN! Adam will BLOW UP YOUR SHOW. America will fall in love with him just like we have. His appeal is amazing and universal.

Adam as a future judge? . . . I will watch. SO EXCITING!

Gosh, so they fired all the Idol producers ? Back to square one.

I want Adam and Keith plus one or two pretty and smart ladies .....JLo and JHud have been mentioned. Now that would be a whole lot of pretty/handsome and something for everyone. Also, I think the judges should have similar input to DWTS in the outcome of the winner. Finically, guest mentors with better theme weeks would also improve the show.

YT is full of imaginative music videos that can't have cost much.

Adam doesn't need a bunch guys dancing or doing things around him. All he needs is an art student with some computer skills and some nifty ideas. Surely there are creative people in the US as well?

This one is of my recent favourites and Adam could do something like this because it is him and his pretty face we want:

Those who have no stomach for the game, don't play. Adam obviously can handle it, and if he wants it, then it's his call; we're just spectators who egg him on or throw eggs at his career decisions. The pros outweigh the cons, and those who are on the fence about a controversial Adam as judge will eventually fall in love once they see him as Idol judge.
And so what if they don't offer him the job. Think of all the buzz around him from all this speculation. Several factors have changed since last year. Adam's become more popular, Iovine and other decision-makers are moving on, Idol has learned its lesson about chemistry and personality as necessary criteria for a judging panal.
The qualifier of "if an all alum panel" limits the condition under which Adam would be picked somewhat, but I'll take the news for what it is: a pox on the Adam bashers. The way I see it, the more Adam's name is touted as contender, the more the choice not to bring him in becomes indefensible and risky for Idol. atm

Nobody is playing Adam.

Stay calm, this is all still rumor. Idol has not said anything officially. Nobody knows how this is going to play out over the next couple of months. In the meantime, it is all free publicity for Adam.

From the Yahoo article:
Darnell's exit and the pending departure of the top producers makes for a confusing mix at the top of Fox's ranks, in addition to what the executive calls "dysfunction" between the network and "Idol" producers, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment.

And nice pic from Life Ball, I hadn't seen that one.

It's no secret that Kelly Clarkson won't do American Idol. For crying out loud, she's touring with Maroon 5 (THE VOICE -- DUH!!) and has also mentored for that show. She broke her AI reins a long time ago. Adam should do same. He IS popular and should wait for another and new type of show, not AI.

Did KC not appear on Idol this yr.? She has not completely broke all ties.

Anonymous said...

Lol this would be the best thing that could happen to get Adam back in the game. Don't kid yourself about that.

Anonymous said...

And how many months (and threads!) before the decisions are made?!?

Anonymous said...

Last year it wasn't announced until mid September

Anonymous said...

Don't expect anything official from Idol until they finish reorganizing and hiring their staff LOL.

Don't expect anything official from Idol until they have squeezed every bit of publicity and speculation out of the choosing of judges that they can. That's the game. A tiresome game that creates as much anticipation as it does frustration and boredom. Though I know it keeps Adam's name out there........for better or worse.......I'd just as soon skip these prelims and get to the announcement. So I can commence being happy or disappointed.........JAK

Adam hasn't even been approached to be a judge on Idol. It is all this rumor and speculation from putting out these different polls and individuals voicing their own personal choices. Keeping his name out there with all the buzz about him as a possible new judge is good publicity. Whether or not he gets the job is another story. He has said he would do it so now we have to sit back and wait until they reorganize the structure of the show after getting rid of two producers. I don't think polls or people's opinions will make any difference to the "suits" in charge of the show.

Which producer's were fired? NL is the one who messed it up this last year!

Anonymous said...

Nigel and ken were fired.

Adams name didn't come from any polls. He was named by idol sources to entertainment reporters as being considered for an alum panel. But no decisions will be made for awhile so obviously it could change. And an alum panel doesn't really even seem that likely now.

Anonymous said...

Nigel and Ken are out.
Jhud's was only verbal negotiation, contract not signed.
JLo could make a comeback as judge because surprised to know Simon Fuller is her manager???Steven has been heard to say he wants back as well if Jlo is back.
Keith is still hanging, not fired and not confirmed back.
Don't understand why Idol already negotiated with JHud when they have no Reality Chief yet and no replacement for Nigel and Ken.
Ticket sales to Idol tour this year is the lowest why shows were cancelled.
Idol needs a miracle to make a successful comeback next year.
I wonder how many will audition for S13!

7:52, go read the article.

JAK, it's publicity for Idol and Adam, but seriously, they can't do anything until they hire a bunch of producers and directors.

Anonymous said...

I hope upon hope they don't welcome Jennifer Lopez back. She has no idea how to critique. She showers affection on the contestants, hence giving them false hope. AI judges need balls like Simon possesses but with a little more tact.

Anonymous said...

Tactful balls...........an interesting concept.....JAK

I'm sorry, but I've grown very tired of all of these singing competitions. I will not watch idol; I don't care who is a judge. But there are lots of people out there who are still into AI and will watch. I think it would be great publicity for Adam.
