It helps a lot to get thru life if a person is crazy.
nancdruuu2 here: Twerk!lol
Please forgive me, but the first thing I thought of when seeing the new feature pic was Adam just passed gas and is saying Ahhhh. Anyone else want to title this pic?
RollingStone has Lay Me Down as no. 1. Take note radios.
Exactly @6:05 so cool to see the Lay Me Down track as #1. Please let it become a single at some point. Read on adamtopia the best thing for Adam is to buy the Avicii album True from Amazon or preorder it now, then when True comes out,buy Lay Me Down from itunes. If you buy or preorder the whole album from itunes then buying the single later won't count toward sales. So this is how I will handle my purchases.
You're not alone 5:45.
About Leto's leather pants, loved them. So avant garde.
I just pre-ordered the True album on Amazon.
MUST READ THIS ARTICLE:
http://eqmusicblog.com/eq-commentary-lgbt-equality-or-just-a-really-good-show-the-macklemore-vmas-gay-debate/
....... “Why should a white, straight rapper make millions from his track that isn’t any more special than any other gay anthem, written and performed by an actual gay artist?” To further add salt to the wound, the music industry elite then go on to bestow upon Macklemore a highly-coveted MTV music video award, literally turning him overnight into the “new face of equality”, something that the gay community really didn’t have a say in......
......On the other side of the coin, we have the gay trailblazers like Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters, Sam Sparro and Adam Lambert who have had moderate mainstream commercial success whilst being out from the very beginning of their careers......
MUST READ THIS. GO TO THE LINK ABOVE READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE AND WRITE YOUR COMMENTS.
LOL
Avicii please release LMD as a single as soon as possible! It's amazing !
CT
@7:12 Great! I pre ordered True on Amazon also.I really like a lot of the songs on that album,of course LMD being my favorite and will buy that on itunes once the album is released. We can also purchase the song more than once from itunes if it is gifted to someone else.
@7:16 PM
The article is so right and makes me so frustrated that I just want to burst into tears.
7:16 I hope they will be nice comments before it is all over people will act like Adam wrote this article.
@6:05
Thanks! Made my day to know that it's No. 1!!!
why would people act like adam wrote the article- that makes no sense. the writer is just saying what a lot of people are thinking. I'd never heard that group or that song (Same Love) before the MTV awards, and why in the world did J Hudson need to join in? it is very frustrating to say the least.
"Jelz" .... there are people who are so grammatically lazy these days that they can't be bothered to say the real word AND/OR they think they're being cool doing it.
Like I said a few threads back, the part the Jennifer Hudson sang was tailor made for Adam. I thought for a minute it was going to be Adam when they announced a special guest would be joining them. Exactly why Jennifer Hudson?
So great to see LMD praised and in such high regard! I hope that song continues to get noticed and keeps a high profile AND becomes the next single from the album
The link to the commentary on the Same Love song on the VMAs the award it received is amazing and should be widely read. It says EXACTLY what we Adam fans have been saying for four years. The most honest and talented gay singer is right there in front of them and they continue to "forget" about him. It's puzzling and confusing and infuriating. We have all felt it. It literally gave me the shakes to see Adam have to hand over an award to someone else, when he has paid his dues many time over. And he has done it while being completely open and honest about his sexuality. OOL is every bit as profound and significant a song as SL and should have been recognized as such. I wish OOL could resurface now as a companion song to SL. I'm glad the OOL video was posted in the article. Adam MUST get his due in time. To continue to have lesser talents reap the sales, concert opportunities and awards is simply absurd. I want to shout that article from the rooftops.
DRG
To have Jennifer Hudson up there as part of the SL presentation was pointless.
I've suggested before that LMD should be released as a single with a well-thought out video, with Nile, Avicii and Adam close-ups because we want to see Adam, his dance moves and expressions. Hey Nile/Avicii, can you let Adam's voice come through a bit more at the ee sound he sings at "see" and "need' which are a little obscured by the electronics; those are Adam's delicate singing nuances I often refer to. Nile/Avicii LMD arrangement is excellent.
Lam-my
Rolling Stone......FUCKING RIGHT!!!!!
MUST READ THIS ARTICLE. Anon 7.16pm Thanks so much for the link to that article it was so well articulated and says what has been on our minds for the last four years. Everyone here please read it, it is so beautifully written.
Yea the sudden appearance on the screen of J Hudson to duet with Mary Lambert took me by surprise literally. In fact I had to examine closely to make sure it was J Hudson. I thought they had gone on to a different segment...a bit disconnected there, not so for the audience I guess.

The author of the article on "Same Love" is missing a few important facts. The winners of the MTV awards were by public vote so the public thought that song had the best message out of all the nominees. Also, he doesn't know who Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are because he writes about pop and electronic music. Macklemore is a rap artist. Homophobia is still rampant in the rap and hip hop community and is one of the reasons Macklemore wrote that song. It was risky for a rap/hip hop artist to write and release such a pro LGBT song. Macklemore has gay uncles. Many people think Macklemore is gay because of the song. He also allowed the song to be used in the marriage equality campaign in his home state. If you listened to Macklemore's acceptance speech he said the award for Same Love was more important to him than the award they won for best rap video. As far as JHud joining them, was two women singing those lyrics to each other lost on everybody? It would be great if there wasn't an issue for LGBT being accepted and having all their civil rights. Allies like Macklemore and songs like Same Love getting airplay can help change peoples minds. Change is happening quickly and straight allies are needed to help open peoples minds.
It would make no sense for Mary Lambert and Adam Lambert to be singing those lyrics to each other. That was two women singing she keeps me warm, and love is patient, etc to each other. That was a big point.
And why MTV VMA rebroadcast doesn't show Adam's presentation segment? I don't buy that it's because of the newbie artist category he presented, directors decided to cut it from the rebroadcast show. They deliberately cut Adam's part. Hate politics of big corporations. So hypocritical, bias, and undemocratic.
US is about to go to another war in defense of democracy and human rights violation. Yet the big corporations that are running its core culture acting totally different. WHY?
7:16....Thank you for posting. GREAT ARTICLE and I am so glad that this was written as it totally addressed the horrible knot in my stomach as I watched the award given.
AND he was right on about the meager award that Adam so graciously gave out. A "who cares" award.
It it a great article because it opens this very important dialog. The total lack of support in the industry for gay artists.
I don't know how to do this but could you please post this article on this site.
SO APPRCIATED!!!
Undying eternal love for the rare and brilliant human
being that is Adam Lambert! GENIUS!!!!!
9:25, if MTV has to cut over 20 minutes from the broadcast, why wouldn't they cut the live voting portion? A video clip of that award being given is still on their website. Why do you assume it was to scorn Adam? Think the artist that won maybe thinks he is the one being cut out? You are irrationally looking for something that isn't there.
So there are complaints that Adam is asked on enough shows and then when he is the complaints are that it wasn't the right category. Some of you are never happy. Adam could host every show on tv and you would still find something to complain about.
@9:02pm. You didn't get the point of the article. He said why not give awards to actual LGBT artists like Adam who are out and proud and have even better songs that conveys the inequality and discrimination in LGBT community. Why the support is given to straight artists like Gaga, Madonna, etc. singing the struggle of LGBT.
I kind of like 9:02's positive outlook of the Macklemore debate. The article writer too has a very strong line of argument. That is, why does a straight guy singing a gay rap song reap the full benefit of what an 'authentic' gay person like Adam cannot; instead made to present a VMA to one lesser in talent; rubbing salt into the wound. That is my grouse of this VMA treatment of Adam. I think if I can feel Adam being slighted, much of the world watching would have felt exactly the same. Also why was Adam not invited to perform Outlaws of Love instead of having Macklemore do Same Love. What's the difference, other than prejudice; on worldwide tv at that. I happen to read about a new kind of synthetic diamond which outshines the real mineral diamond and is grabbing attention. But as 9:02 points out, we need everybody's mind and heart to enrich this eye-opener equality movement.

As many have already said, I LOVED that article and the truth of it. Yes, I hope Admin posts it as a separate article. I have always been, as so many others, so discouraged about the lack of radio play for Adam. Many have written that they requested Adam's songs but were told they couldn't play him - even tho the DJs said they liked his music. Many, many radio stations are owned by Clear Channel, who are homophobic to the max. We can only hope that the day will come for Adam. Fingers crossed ...
LL
omg please no one from any awards show read this dumb thread. You people are never satisfied,so embarrassing.
The article author and some of you are missing the point of the VMAs. They are awards for the biggest and best known videos. They don't promote little known songs. There isn't even a video for OOL. If MTV was doing a different type of show then maybe these complaints would be valid. I don't understand how putting down an artist that took a huge risk with his pro LGBT song and video helps the cause at all.
And Lam-my, you fell into the trap of being asked to present on the show wasn't a good enough role.
The moment Clear Channel thinks they can make money off Adam he will be on their playlist. It's all about the money.
Discrimination against women, LGBT, children, and other minorities in hip/hop culture is brought by a straight white male called Eminem. He is sweeping millions by spreading hate in his songs around the world. I can't wait to see him sweep the streets he used to own.
Hey why don't you guys keep bitching so Adam never gets invited to appear at another awards program.
10:00 PM, LOL, the black guys in hip hop are doing fine all by themselves without Eminem's help.
So the thrill of seeing Adam on our tvs is already gone? Never enough for so many of you. Constant complaining, often about things you know nothing about, seems to be the only thing that makes you happy. Talk about Debbie Downers.
Adam was on the VMAs, tons of people saw him again, we have tons of great red carpet pics, why complain?
Love seeing Lay Me Down as number one on the Billboard Playlist!
@10:03pm. Poor black hip/hop artists are wrongly inspired by Eminem. Wrongly without knowing follow his foot steps.
LOL, maybe MTV was really cutting out Emile Sande because she's British. How dare they!
9:55
I am aware that a presenter is honoured when asked to present an award to a recipient at any ceremony be it a musical show or even academic; because it means the presenter is higher. But only if the presenter himself/herself has been honoured first. And that is exactly what I didn't feel. OOL is a genuine LGBT anthem song written mostly by Adam who has been recognised for his role in the LGBT movement, for example by the LA Mayor who bestowed on Adam; "Hope of LA" at that rather important ceremony. So even if OOL doesn't have an accompanying video, Adam is well suited and able to represent the LGBT community by just singing OOL. It would have been the talk of the town and probably robbed Miley of it inadvertently. By the way, I'm not complaining; don't be so narrow. I'm merely taking part in a lively healthy discussion. Very thankful that VMAs invited Adam as a presenter despite my grouse!
Lam-my
You guys who are angry of others with opinion seems like you haven't read the article. I love this part of the article and go read the rest:
"You see, white boys rule the world. Even though we have leaders like President Obama in office, he ultimately is just a figurehead. White boys do in fact, control everything that society deems acceptable. They control the corporations, the government, Wall Street and the world’s financial markets. They even control the music and entertainment industry. It’s very sad, but it’s true. Over the years, they’ve allowed society to accept blacks, disabled people, and more recently, the gays, because well, minorities can get REALLY LOUD sometimes and that can lead to wars around civil rights and they certainly don’t want that to happen. But ultimately, in the end, it’s the white boys that make up the establishment. And sadly, the establishment, runs the world. Not girls. Sorry Beyonce.
This is why “bimboism” amongst female artists really exists in the music industry. You wouldn’t see Ellie Goulding, Robyn, Sia or Adele getting their tits out on the MTV stage or rubbing their ass against a white boy whose current smash hit eludes to being just a teensy bit “rapey” now would you? That’s why artists like Madonna, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Lady Gaga have all had their massive commercial success – it’s because they pander to the establishment. The establishment allows these female artists to reach the success level they reach because they know they can control these artists whether it be via money, record deals, sponsorships, etc. It’s ok though to ultimately call “bimboism” what it really is though and that’s “female empowerment”. And hey, a girl’s got to eat and bring home the bacon, so who cares right? Express yourself!"
10:59.......the TRUTH!
Yes it is!
I always count and appreciate Adam's blessings, not what he doesn't have or have not attained yet and I'm thankful to God for that.
What is lacking in this world are appreciation and gratefulness.
What a peaceful world this would be!
I don't think that the" coming out" of adam, had an effect on his career as his infamous performance*tongue diving tommy*.yeah it is double standard to make a big deal of it when 2 female artists did the same thing.
Recently had an argument with my big sister who works with sony.her point was if adam had kissed tommy after having 2 successful albums(with established fan base),the impact wouldn't be as it was.I do remember eber asking adam to apologise, what did he do? He made it a duty to tongue dive in all his concerts!(I did enjoyed it).
I do believe that Adam will bounce back.
I have a dream that Adams music will be appreciated and not judged by his sexuality
Phew!
There's more than one side to this Macklemore story:
I’d like to revisit my favorite moment from that night. It’s not often a hip hop artist addresses a human rights issue on that kind of stage but Macklemore & Co did just that with their performance of Same Love. It was powerful and touching– if this performance were getting the kind of attention that Miley Cyrus is getting we’d be making real progress.
http://www.theqside.com/2013/08/28/macklemore-ryan-lewis-same-love-live/
From another gay blogger: Macklemore’s “Same Love” Is the Only VMA Performance Worth Remembering
http://www.slate.com/blogs/outward/2013/08/26/_same_love_macklemore_s_mtv_vma_performance_deserves_more_attention_than.html
Mary Lambert herself about the performance:
http://www.mtv.com/videos/news/949773/mary-lambert-exhilarated-by-vma-same-love-performance.jhtml#id=1713036
From New Next Now:
“Same Love” helped propel the Seattle hip-hop duo into the mainstream, and helped propel the issue of marriage equality into mainstream music. Tonight on the MTV Video Music Awards, the track rightly received the award for Best Video with a Social Message.
How has it been seeing “Same Love ” explode the way it has, both commercially and as part of the marriage-equality movement?
And their interview with Mary Lambert:
I don’t think we ever expected “Same Love” to take off the way it did. I imagined the song would have an impact locally, as gay marriage was up for a vote in the state of Washington, but to see it explode the way it has, is unreal. Going platinum is a really emotional thing. I have to say it to myself: A gay-rights song went platinum. Even if I were a random person, that would still be a huge deal to me.

All positive comments at GLAAD

So the gay singer on "Same Love" is excited the song went platinum. That says way more to me than the diatribe from the eq blog.
@11:38 - not that it matters but neither Macklemore nor Lewis are gay.
11:52, Mary Lambert that sings the "she keeps me warm" and "not crying on Sundays" parts is gay.
Just a comment or two :)) ...:
First of all, while I agree with much of the EQ Music article posted above, I really DO have to give props to Macklemore & Lewis for being strong and outspoken allies for Marriage Equality, and specifically in Washington State, where I live, and where I also helped with the campaign, as another straight "ally". Their song/music video, Same Love, was broadcast on TV stations in ads during the election campaign last year when Marriage Equality was on the ballot (and subsequently passed!!!). It was a great song/music video, IMO, and I recall that Adam has commented more than once about how much he likes it. But then we know what an unselfish/generous with his praise for other artists..man he is. And I'm waiting for the day that he gets that praise back a thousand-fold by those who have been on the receiving end of that heartfelt praise from him. And also from the many who have yet to hear him sing......
So, while I agree with much of the article, I also applaud Macklemore and Lewis for speaking out and bringing attention to Marriage Equality via music. And for MTV/VMA's for presenting them with the award. Something we no doubt would not have seen just a few years ago. As someone above said "baby steps".
BTW, I was hoping hoping hoping that Adam would be invited to do a little Marriage Equality concert in Seattle before the election. Nope. Would have been perfect. A gay man singing about Marriage Equality, or just plain Equality in life: Imagine that.........
@10:59
"That’s why artists like Madonna, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Lady Gaga have all had their massive commercial success –"
All these you've mentioned have sold their souls and they admit it why they're at the pinnacle of success.
Seems they can do no wrong.
Revelations came from their own mouth, watch You Tube!
Wondering when Obama will invite Adam to sing at the WH?
Macklemore gets bonus props for bringing the issue to the rap and hip hop community. I'm thrilled it has gone mainstream. Macklemore and Mary Lambert have both said how many people have told them heartaching stories about how the song has helped them or changed them. Somehow that blog has become all about Adam and there is a bigger issue at hand here.
GL, where did you volunteer? I was in the Capitol Hill center.
Very interesting article.
Just want to add though, that I do not like the song same love, and I didn't like the performance on the VMA's, just don't like rap.
What is if Macklemore is openly gay and do SL song.do u think people will accept that?do u think his song will win award ?
For me if straight people sing about equality,LGBT that is acceptable in community but if proudly openly gay sing and make video like SL are people will accept that?look at adam..every article about him ,there will be some ignorant people bashing him bring out GAY on him.it shows people still cant accept GAY in their life.
Just preordered True from Amazon.YAY!
Regarding Same Love, we have to take baby steps. Heteros singing about Gay issues makes it more acceptable just like whites marching with blacks. Unfortunately, mainstream American comes around very slowly and that's just the way it is. Of course I don't like it. Imagine how Adam must feel about it deep inside, but I'm sure he understands. My POV.
nancdruuu2
To be honest, I had no idea if Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were gay or straight or bi..until quite recently. It never crossed my mind to ask. In fact, I sort of assumed they were gay, and I suspect others may have thought so as well. I think they just really got very lucky in having the success they did with Same Love. Right place, right time. Their song was heard, Adam's was not. Darn it...
@Anon 12:16 AM
I volunteered in Everett-Snohomish County....
Oh they heard Adam and Adam's songs loud and clear! They refuse to listen! is more like it. But there are some good strong people behind Adam; thank goodness, at home and abroad.
Lam-my
Love this article. White boys make their fortunes by taking advantage of minority groups. Women all naked. Taking arts from gays and making millions. Promotion of trashing women and gays in hiphop. The author of this article showed the other side of the coin that people won't dare to talk about it.
@Lam-my
Adam's song has not been heard by the general public but Macklemore's has been. That's what I'm referring to. The really important thing here is that the message of equality IS being heard and things are changing for the better. Hoping Adam's voice will be heard more in the future because he has so much to contribute, not only his spectacular voice but what he has to say, including his message of love. His time will come...
And what I also meant to say is that if the general public actually had the opportunity to hear Adam's song "Outlaws of Love" in the context of Marriage Equality, many WOULD listen. A significant number of Americans are supportive of equality. As is evidenced by the ever increasing numbers of states who have passed ME legislation. Now, if Adam can only get a label that supports him and promotes his music....and radio doesn't ignore him like it did last year....
I'm not convinced Adam's LGBT songs, namely Trespassing and OOL have not been heard by the general public! Perhaps not extensively but MTV/VMAs people would have heard them but simply ignored them. And so my point being, they heard but refused to listen. But when a straight singer sings a 'gay' song, it goes platinum...clear-cut double standard.
Lam-my
"Sold their souls"? as 12:02 so ridiculously said. A little dramatic, dont you think but she's the dangerous religious fanatic that comes here from time to time to post that same kind of shit. She and her ilk give religion a bad name.
@9:44 I think you don't realize that you are the uninformed. I was shown these videos where they admit they've sold their souls - Kanye, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Bob Dylan Rihanna, J-Z etc
11:27. Get real. Satan personally paid out cash for the souls of these 6 ? How gullible are you ? How much does one get - in cash - for a soul in the 21st century. It would be a hefty sum to interest these mega buck folks.
Uh, could you give us the link to look up these confessions?
