Transcript of the real Glambert's story shared in Glambert's Radio. Written by hoangthien - a 41 years old, gay, businessman. He has won the 1st prize - Trespassing boxset - from the contest "Adam Lambert in my heart" hold for all Vietnamese Glamberts.

--

Dear Adam Lambert Fan Club Viet Nam,

You have chosen a different one to be your Idol, that means you will face a difficult situation on your way. Thank you for being so courageous and altruistic to do this! This is such a meaningful contest. I, myself, have loved the Trespassing album so much and bought it. So, I send this to you just to share my story.

My life has passed 41 years, I am a businessman. It can be said that my life up to now, everything I do have but also have none. I can buy anything I want, except the peace, which I am willing to pay any price to get. Simply because: I am gay!
Since when the university entrance wide opened for me and when my first love hit me, I have known the life storm is coming. 12 years of high school passed by, there were no images of any girls were able to fill my eyes. I excused for myself that the busy study life threw me away. Deep down in my heart, I knew it’s not true. Because I fell in love with you, my tan skin darling from Quang Nam, with curly hair and determined eyes. And you are a boy!

Such a horrible thing! I had thought I was a monster or something. I rushed into the Internet and books to find out what’s the kind I am. After being acknowledged the truth, I still had not predicted what would come next then. Once, I took all my courage and tried holding his hands. He took it back immediately then turned to see me with angry and scornful eyes: “You aren’t that kind of sick thing, are you?” That news has been spreading all around from his mouth. I hid myself in my cave since then. After graduation, I left Hue and moved to Ha Noi to forget the old sad memories, and to avoid my parents’ introduction of some girls to me.

I worked hard like crazy! And became a successful businessman as I am now. I had wasted my life in some aberrations. I had some love that leading nowhere. I had flirted with some girls too, made them fall in love and then turned it into tragedy. I knew how to make a lot of money, and I knew how to waste them! I was a bad boy in Ha Noi, wild and crazy. I became a gentleman everytime I came back to my hometown just to please my parents. They always started their story with the sentence: “Hoang, you are 41 years old already, how about starting your own family son?” And I always start to think about my life with the darkness, deadlock like the tiny lanes in the shims. I hated everything, especially myself.

Until that day, I heard by chance a song that one of my staff playing: “Mad World”. This vibrated my heart. I searched the singer’s name. And here it was: “Adam Lambert”. He looked like a flamboyant, rebellious, ostentation guy. That used to be my first impression about him. Such a good singer, I thought, but there’s no chance. He’s definitely gay, I guessed. Soon after then, the media announced it. At that time, I felt gloating. Don’t know why I was cruel like that. I just thought: “So, have you known how to be hurt? That’s the lesson you have to learn boy! Why do you dare to dream when you were born this way like me?” He lost, as I predicted. “That’s how the life goes boy! Come back to your place, hide carefully and live in patience, waiting for the day this life passes away!”
But he didn’t do that way. He came out, he admitted. “You will have to pay for this!” I thought.

As the way this mad world runs, he did meet many obstacles after then. It was a surprise for me that he still smiled, still lived, held head high and was faithful. He kept continuing fighting for the equality that in my opinion, the outstanders always scream louder and get much more than what we really have. Some of my friends hate Adam. They think he’s fake. I didn’t. I thought he was brave and resilient. No weak man can be out there and live with that kind of truth. I just thought he was some kind of delusion somehow. So I ignored him, turned back to my own life. Just sometimes heard about him when my friends mentioned about.

That day! I came back home, drunk so bad. I ran into the bathroom and cried my eyes out. Looked at me in the mirror, I realized I was old. I have lived so long and I felt bored with myself. My lover will marry with a woman next week. “This is what the life will be, we all will die in vain and tears.” – that’s what his last words to me. Running, I have running from my heart for the whole life. Now I want to die

But I did not die that night. There’s no way to explain why I did that; I came back to my room, turned on my laptop and googled the name Adam Lambert after a long time. I did want to make sure that he died. And… he didn’t. He even released a new album. Damn! Why? How can he live like this? Does he has a secret? A magic?

I clicked onto the link, and a video appeared. Not like the catch, boom bing rhythm I have heard the 1st album somewhere, there was a pathetic lyrics: “They say we’ll rot in hell, but I don’t think we will”. “Don’t die, please don’t die, we have run so far, but don’t die”. It seems like he talked in my head. I cried. That night, I spent whole time listening to all the songs of Trespassing. And in my head, a sad film slowly played: the hopeless, the hurt, the deepest… feelings that can’t be proved.

“Underneath” – Adam really came deeply into me at this night. He did a surgery to my soul. There’s not many ones out there, even the ones who are raising the rainbow flags, knew exactly what the people like me have to face. No one wants to dig that deep. Who knows what will happen if tomorrow I come to my company and come out? I would lose everything in this society and my parents would die ‘cause they can not accept it, and they never will. But Adam might know. He surely knows. He can understand my tracks of tears, he can feel the dark sky always covers above my life. He knows this isn’t easy at all!

But, when I turned off the laptop, after such a long time suffering all that unfair, hurtful, and hateful things, even like that, on the screen I saw that night, still a smiling Adam was there. Then I understood what he wanted, why and how he has lived that way. He wants me to look at him, and live. He wants to show me that it will alright. He has been suffering, and been OK, for me to see. That will be fine, he told me by living his life, and don’t die.

I hadn’t had enough courage as Adam. I still choose to keep silence. Don’t blame me for being weak! I have to. But there’s one thing has changed in me: I don’t wanna die anymore. I will live better than ever. ‘Cause Adam has shown me the way: we can be abnormal, but as long as we live the life as good as the others, we can hope to find love. The love for this life, for ourselves, and somehow, the love from the others, like the fans give to Adam!

I took a flight to HCM city, I paid more than 8-million VND (~$400) for a ticket to enter Hennessy Artistry from the black market ‘cause the show did not sell tickets. In return, I can face Adam. My little prince was shining, proud, and safe on that. At last I feel “peace and safe” somehow. When I witnessed many young and straight fans screaming his name and the love spreading on their faces that night, I thought that I should feel that way. Hope you guys, the one are his fans, know how difficult the road that someone like Adam has to take, has been and will be. Then, PLEASE LOVE HIM TO THE FULLEST!

Thank you, my boy, Adam!

This was beautiful. I cried. I'm a straight woman so I don't know what gay people go through in other countries but it breaks my heart to know that so many gay and lesbian people and their love are so hidden. Life is so unfair. I hope every single gay person on earth can find hope.

I read this yesterday and got choked up. Many thanks to Adam's Vn fans. I believe they also had a radio broadcast with Adam's music yesterday too. I was MIA at the time so I am hoping they have another.

Adam touches lives in ways we cannot even imagine. His influence is world-wide. I know we've said it many times, but it's true. He gives people hope just by having the courage to be himself. This man's experience is just the tip of the iceberg.
Love you, Adam!

It's sad he still considers himself and Adam abnormal. They are not. I hope some day he can see this. I hope strong and supportive groups can grow in countries where being LGBT is so unaccepted.

Tears are rolling down my face also; so sad but, I am glad he found sone hope and relief through Adam.

Adam is so brave; sometimes it is easy to forget the sad times he probably is still going through. Bless his dear sweet soul. He keeps on smiling through sometimes a heavy heart I am sure.

When this next album comes out; I am going to work, work, work and buy and gift and spread the word as much as I can for Adam. He was such an inspiration the this gentleman. I hope that he sees this. I feel so bad for him. But, how many more him's are out there?

Yes, Adam is more than just a singing voice. He is a God sent miracle to this world!

Uhhhhh....I'm crying my heart out. :'{{{{

I sometimes think about what must have been like in Adam's heart and mind when he realized he is Gay. In one of his documentary he said he realized it when he started Jr. High School. That's at age 11 or 12. Finally his mom outed him at age of 18. What Adam went through for 7 years in his heart and mind just kills me. Two songs on Trespassing make me cry. Outlaws of Love and Underneath. I hope this fan like Adam can find solace in his life. Only for this one reason I'll be Adam's fan forever and every chance I get I will open up people's mind about LGBT. Human Rights!

Hoang Thien-I just wanted to hug you and make it better somehow for you after I read your brave confession. I am so sorry for the human race that a wonderful person like you has had to suffer internally with the concept that "gay" is such an awful crime. I tell all of my "Bible Belt" family and friends that our G-d Almighty and the Universe created gay people just as he created straight people. Hoang-you are G-d's creation-be proud and hold yourself in precious esteem. The world just has to get better for all gay people. Thank you for your story and I wish you happiness and peace. This is the first time I have read this powerful story about brave Hoang and my heart is breaking. I wish so much that gay people did not have to suffer in the way that Hoang and so many have. We who love Adam have always known he is special for reasons beyond his superlative singing talent. Adam has been unafraid not only to speak out about being gay but being proud to be gay. His beautiful album, Trespassing, has spoken openly about the heartache he and many others have suffered. As Hoang has said, Adam continues to shine in the face of hatred and bigotry. He has won millions of people's hearts by not being afraid to show his real self by example every day of his life. The beauty that is Adam is obvious to us because we know his heart. He is not a fake like most of Hollywood. Adam is not just content to enjoy his well-earned fame. He continues to reach out to others who have no hope and in doing that, save lives. Welcome Hoang into our family.............nancdruuu2

Thanks for sharing this story! I cried,WE ALL LOVE ADAM TO THE FULLEST LIKE YOU.being gay isn't abnormal,it's natural!I am glad you are having hope in life after knowing adam.

Yes I cried! I cry and the stupidity of people who hate people because they are different. They were born different and God created them.
Many Christian of which I am one go on and on about the bible and I not in anyway knocking that but gay people I am sorry are Gods children to.
I honestly believe they were born that way and did certainly not choose it.
I believe Adam had helped mire people than we will ever know. gay, make a wish children, many adults and children in Africa with clean water and me i felt like giving up with all I facing again and again. But Glamberts have help me some nice ones and there be no Glamberts without Adam.
This made me cry but also happy that Adam has in some way helped this man. Correction Adam has helped more people. Adam may be a Gay man but more important Adam a good man. He like all of us had made mistakes grown and matured he had good times and hard times and he still here and stronger than ever and the best is yet to come. I certainly hope this man fines peace in his life. Seems like Adam has been a role model in some ways to him and many others! Sue

Hoang Thien, with your letter you share your heart, your pain, and you do so with so much honesty, and I am moved to tears of sadness for your cruel experience, and happiness on finding Adam and his music. Please love yourself; you are a precious human being who deserves to love and be loved. I believe that you take here the first courageous step in your journey to taking pride in who you are. Such an intelligent and eloquent man with a burning message as yourself is sometimes what is needed to crack the false world open with the truth of all people's worth. In the words of Adam Lambert, "Love has no color; love has no orientation. All is love". I hope you will continue to grow in strength.

Anonymous said...

Just a reminder for those expressing concern for Adam's pain, maybe it hasn't been as bad as you are worried it has been. Adam has said a couple of times that his parents are very accepting and he lived in a part of southern California that was accepting and he was kind of shocked running into discrimination and hate after Idol. Not at all saying Adam hasn't experienced that pain but saying it is so good it hasn't been as long and pervasive as some others have experienced. Very happy for Adam for that. Looking forward to and working for the day no one will have to deal with this pain.

Anonymous said...

Adam's songs come through with passion and compassion for people who suffer the injustices of being different. Because he bares his heart so eloquently and honestly through his example and his songs, we cannot help but gain passion and compassion for them. Thank you Hoang for sharing; you added to the struggle with your growing strength and testimony.

Yes, I remember Adam saying he wasn't bullied at school, due to his height, but he always felt alone and as you said, his family has always been extremely supportive of him.

@kitty
I think you're referring to the articles and comments made after Adam came out publicly after he finished being part of American Idol.

glitzylady said...

Those comments are often still there on "public" articles. But that's sadly true of other celebrities as well. There are people, if you can call them that, that just troll the internet for opportunities to put down anyone and everyone. For no reason at all. No one is immune from it.

But again, sadly, Adam is still a target of ignorance, homophobia, and hate, not to mention sarcasm, and stupidity. He even gets hateful comments on his twitter feed. I see them when I check replies to his tweets. He has to block people. So Adam is a target even now. And I'm sure he sees those remarks.

I suppose he just tries to ignore them but they still must hurt ... Just like we see on this blog from time to time, hateful, rude comments about Adam, and about other posters here. Anonymity sometimes makes it easier to be disrespectful. Adam has said "Forcefields UP" when he's spoken about the hate and ignorance directed at him, but that can't make it any less painful and frustrating.

Something to think about here too......Bullying goes on everywhere. It would be nice to be part of the solution, not part of the problem....

Anonymous said...

11:32, I've seen them. I wasn't saying it doesn't happen or doesn't hurt. I was trying to focus on the positive thing that some LGBT people have been spared some pain. Hopefully there will be less pain and more acceptance in the very near future.

I hope Hoang Thien continues to realize that he is entitled to love and be loved-just like all of God's creations and I'm so glad that our dear Adam has touched his life in such a deep and personal way.

I,too felt such a pain in my heart last night when I read this letter written by a man from across the globe. I don't think Adam could even begin to imagine the extent of his influence on so many people. Adam has a special place in my heart-as I said to him when I met him, ever so briefly, at the Del Mar Fair last July. Not only because of his music but because of his courage and his ability to reach so many with his open, loving heart.

I have raised a son--and I don't imagine, for one moment, that Adam's growing years here in San Diego were pain-free and without sadness.I know the things kids say in the H.S. environment and I had discussions with my son and daughter when they were in high school and would come home and share some of the hateful remarks made by some of the kids, and sad to say, even by the football coach.I didn't know Adam during these years but I;m very glad I took the time to let them know that our home was not a place that would tolerate bigotry and hate. I am proud of the young adults they have become and the values they have embrace

I thank this beautiful, courageous man, Adam Lambert for all the love and light he has brought into this world.

Adam was once asked about his greatest fear. He said, "Growing old alone." I think this may be true with many LGBT people. It is tragic that a whole segment of people may face a life without love and intimacy simply because they are gay and may suffer severe consequences. To have to hide who are really are for an entire lifetime is a reality for so many in this group. This Vietnamese fan is taking a major step to perhaps being able to live more honestly and happily. Unfortunately, the societal consequences can be severe. Not ever gay person lives in liberal southern California or has a loving, accepting family. Adam's public honesty has been a double-edged sword. It has brought him praise but at the same time has hampered his commericial success. I think his legacy will be strong and positive. I hope he finds true love along the way.

Anonymous said...

Adam has gotten much more benefits than disadvantages from being out. His lack of commercial success is due to his taste and judgement and not due to him being gay.

Anonymous said...

6:58 and you know this because? Please state factual examples. Have you been at Adams side and face his everyday life. Yes music is a matter of taste. Agree. But there is a lot of bigoted marketing and business behind what is played and promoted. I applaud the higher ups that are opening doors for all for the love of Music.

Anonymous said...

I agree lack of radio play has little to do with being gay. Radio stations will play whoever they think will make them the most money. They don't care who it is or how good it is as long as they make money.

Anonymous said...

@6:58 AM

Ignorant observation. How do you know that? You don't know what goes through the mind of the people making these decisions.

In saying what you said; you are trying to say that homophobia does not exist in the business world.

Adam is beautiful outstanding human being and role model to young people. So it is not due to his taste and judgement.

If that were the case; there would almost be no one in Hollywood or anywhere else with commercial success. I think I even so M&M on a commercial once; and the beibs; I would hold Adam's character and decisions up to many of those any day. So you really don't know what you are talking about.

I believe if Adam was not Gay; he would have had many more advantages! With that one in a billion voice; and the looks of a Greek God!

Well since I need to leave soon please forgive me if I don't spend the morning documenting this for you.

Adam got a shitload of publicity and attention because he was gay. Remember the rolling stone interview, the abc interview, his entertainment weekly cover. All of it was driven by the fact that he was thus outrageous gay guy who got on idol. Lots of questions and discussion about him being gay.

He didnt come up with good enough music to capitalize on it during the second era. That album was his baby so it falls on him that it didnt succeed. People were open to him but he didnt deliver the goods.

What kept him going was the gay angle. The gay pride events, the marriage equality events, Trevor project, the la lgbt recognition, the AT&T promotion. He has been the gay poster boy this last year. Without it he would be as forgotten as kris allen.

Anonymous said...

7.10 I have heard so many gay remarks about from DJ when people requested his songs I count them.
Don't worry he will prevail because of his good taste and judgement. Everyone who worked with him love him.

People who say there is no discrimination or prejudice against other minorities don't understand it unless they themselves face the same thing. I've been discriminated against my belief in my home country and discriminated against my nationality in a country which adopted me. Being an Outlaw or an outcast most of my life even though I've always been law abiding citizen of both countries. Although hardship makes one's character stronger and results are victorious at the end. Thanks to great upbringing and being surrounded by loving and supportive family and friends.

If he had sung WWFM at the AMAs and done a great job he would have had a platinum album and a much better career. People have this lasting image of his overt sexuality. That goes to his bad judgement. He made himself gay first and a singer second. No one objects to Elton John, Ricky Martin or KD Lang or Melissa etheridge because they made their sexuality second to their music

. Also all the idols have problems because of being from a tv show. You need a really amazing song to get their attention.

What kept him going is his international appeal and the album did quite well internationally.
He appeared on many shows and awards shows and garnished many awards. He still doing that. Not to mention he done Glee and Queen and much more and continues do front Queen and Appear on Glee not to mention Divas and many more appearance here and abroad.
Trespassing was a very good album with good reviews and did well abroad.
Another thing that kept him going he still has them coming far and wide to see him something others never could do. Most of his charitable appearances were not even known to anyone but us so that certainly not why he still thriving. Like KA but talent wise could not hold a candle to Adam as a singer or a concert performer. I don't feel bad saying that since a couple of his fans have gone on here and every thing Adam mentioned on and trashed Adam.

Anonymous said...

Trespassing did not so well anywhere except maybe Finland because of sauli. If he was really big internationally he would not have been dropped by RCA. That's common sense. Sony is an international company.

Anonymous said...

I never really understood gay people and probably never will. I have a more open mind now, and except them for who they are. Because of Adam Lambert, we all need to love each other, they are people like we are, and have fillings that can be broken.

Anonymous said...

@7:45 AM I say your wrong. The media was chomping at the bit waiting for Idol to end so they could address Adam's sexuality. Adam was forced to meet it head on the same way it came at him. You wanted him to be coy? Get real. Adam had all he could do to get to his agenda (singing) while still swimming against the current from the media focus. He has been pushed in so many directions it's a miracle he still maintains his self confidence.

Anonymous said...

8 29
Well obviously he had no choice but to come out after idol, and I never said he should have done otherwise. That doesn't mean you have to make a sexually charged spectacle on a huge awards show when you are just starting out. Show people you can sing first.

Anonymous said...

Just saw Adam will be a guest judge on ru paul drag race this season. Another thing he would only get because he is gay.

@ 8:40 AM
Adam's appearance on Idol left no doubt he knows how to sing. You are still making him accountable to higher standards than all the other performers out there. AMA proved he could 'run with the big boys'. He's no more shocking (If your reading this Adam, I'm sorry if I'm hurting your feelings Adam) than any of them.

Anonymous said...

So he gay! He had good success with trespassing and won many awards and performed at big award shows. Internationally he did have success with trespassing way beyond Finland. Nothing to do with ex SK. He will never be forgotten like anyone you mentioned because he a way bigger talent. Also he was with RCA nearly fourteen months. If there was no success he been gone three four months later like some. sK fans and fans of others this is not your site not at all. Stop spreading lies! Sauli and Adam have moved on why don't you!

Most of America does not watch idol. That was his huge opportunity and he did not do well. He did not blow anyone away with his voice. All he did was remind people he was gay and make a vulgar spectacle of himself.

But regardless, his song WWFM was played by all the radio stations, and so was IIHY. He was not blackballed. They didnt all of a sudden refuse to play his second era because he was gay. They just didnt like the music enough

I think fronting Queen for two years at any major appearances and Glee and much more. Plus up coming performances with queen. Probably will ensure with upcoming music no one forgetting Adam.

Anonymous said...

8:46, yes, the only way to get to be a judge is to be gay. Just ask Sharon Osborne and Kathy Griffin who have been judges on the show. So sad this is the only gig Neil Patrick Harris can get too.

mC was vulgar as hell great rewards and kisses girls all the time. Like in Vegas dancers.

He has not fronted queen for two years. Remember the olympics?? He had a total of 6 shows with queen and one half hour set this past year that was shared with another singer.

Brian mays health will determine if they can go again.

There are people posting on this particular thread that appear to have no good will towards Adam. No matter what Adam does, or is asked to participate in, it will always be something that they will find fault with.

It is quite obvious that a few of these posts, in my opinion, are homophobic in nature. Some even border on dislike of Adam, again in my opinion. This is unfortunate on an Adam Lambert fan blog site. It is ok to express different opinions; but, not in such a disrespectful way.

I don't feel a need to call out different posts; you, and any fair minded person reading this site knows who you are.

What Idol show were you watching; surely not the one Adam M. Mitchell was on. Adam was the talk of the town. First and only standing ovation at that time that Simon Cowell ever gave. Adam outshined everyone on that show. Will not rehash all the reasons that Adam may not have walked away with the title; water under the bridge. I'll put it this way Adam did not lose anything. He is a winner, he knows, I know it; and in your heart of heart, if you have one, you know it. You need to face reality!

Lol signed or unsigned is just full of crap. Nothing this jealous pin head has to say is a bit true. Trying to say all this with such conviction anyone that's know all that Ad done which is tons more than KA or SK knows that the lol troll and the SK trolls posts are total and utter BS.
Queen has not toured a lot in last few years but any significant concert they have done Adam has been part of it.
Yes for any thing of any significance Adam most certainly is their front man.
If Queen BM is ok they will tour this year.
As far as that half hour show Adam did it was the biggest music festival to date. He done 6 concerts with queen, the EMA's closed the show. iHeart huge music festival. If BM health holds up more to come this year with queen who loves the hell out of Adam.
BM health is most important thing but looks as if ok hopefully.
They said to an interviewer at IHeart Music festival that Adam and Queen just happened it was fate. That they could have looked at millions of people and never found any one near as good a fit and singer for them.
This is a direct quote from Brian M to an interviewer winners of these reality shows like Idol often just fizzle out but Adam has caused quite the sensation. If you got a problem with that talk to Brian M. He most certainly said that.
Also world wide Ad trespassing did do well in way more places than Finland. He loved in Asian and his fan base grows all the time. He performed and received many awards there like the best global artist award he just got and no he is management did not set it up he won twice plus many other in the last year not just Asia. Album did well in Asia, Africa, Finland, Russia, before any dictatorship and sure they still love him, Hungary, Korea many more. Certainly not just Finland.
He was with RCA nearly a year and a half before he left. Not three or four months like some others on second album. If it had not sold well internationally he would not have been.
As far as first album it sold over two million and went platinum in several countries. Also nearly 5 million singles. kA no where close to that figure he did have one hit song.
9.28 the first one what the hell are you talking about. Adam did terrific on Idol the best ever to be on the show. sC said you have been the best most original contestant we have ever had on this show. Many said the talent level dipped after Adam. He mentored the year after he was on because the show was tanking big time. Only one to do a full mentoring job.
Adam was magnificent that year. Magazines saying Adam single handle fly saved idol that year. That was the best year idol ever had. He was in no way vulgar on that show. As far as the AMA's he was the talk of the world just like MC.he done nothing like that ever again in five years so get the hell over it. Does not look like you jealous people ever will. Sure lol and the other will say there not jealous unfortunately actions speak louder than words.

@ 4:00 PM

I have a feeling yours is not the Beautiful Essay mentioned at the beginning of the thread. But just so you never have to type it again and again and again, you will be happy to know I bookmarked it. Therefore I can look it up and remind myself and remind myself of all the pertinent points you have made.

Sue unsigned...or signed, always these long lists of Adam's achievements and doings we all know.
Don't bother yourself with the trolls and provoking trouble stirrers. Besides these trouble makers no one else except you is bringing up Sauli's name here. Just ignore and stop mentioning Sauli's name altogether, maybe you feel better.
And please stop using the nick name Ad, off limits for fans, however ardent they might be!
